My son was right behind the White Sox visitors dugout where they come out to the batters box when they were in St. Pete playing the Rays. AJ was just looking around at the crowd with a smug look on his face. For some reason my son tells AJ his mom isn't coming to the game. He said AJ looked like he was going to hit him with his bat.
500/500 club. No one is even in the 400/400 club. Such an amazing stat! Definitely deserves to be in HOF regardless, it was the era they played in. Him and Manny Ramirez were the two best hitters I’ve ever seen in person.
JT snow and AJ are the only autographs I don’t have on that team because they wouldn’t sign a ball for my 8 year old self. Every other person on the team did including Barry Bonds.
Aj is one of the worst baseball guys ever. He was an above avg catcher for a few years, I guess. But terrible personality and terrible ambassador. Didn't know about jt snow being a chode as well. Sorry that happened
@@chickenfkeryayI wouldn’t call him a douche but he was on the club level for a fan event thing and was taking a few selfies with some people. I swooped in and asked for a quick selfie, while he agreed and gave a good smile, he definitely gave a little attitude and rolled his eyes a bit. My 10 second impression, for what that’s worth, is that he will smile for a camera but doesn’t like taking the time to humor fans. Please take my impression with a grain of salt.
Barry signed my 1995 UD collectors choice card which is literally a card of him signing a ball for fans . Signed a nice sig and I still have it as a middle aged man 👍🤣
I was always a Griffey fan because of his style character and sweetest swing in baseball. But yes. I agree with AJ. Barry bonds was best hitter I ever seen. Pre steroids and after. High walk ratio. Great eye. He would only get like one maybe two pitches to hit a game cuz they pitched around him all the time.and when he got them he did not miss.
im tired of peole making excuse for barry he shouldn't have juiced i cant say the giat is a cheater shit dint sound right my guy if u the best why cheat
Not just hitter tho… he stole over 500 bases and had gold gloves lol He was the best all around player since mays. Not billy mays either…. “With three easy payments of just 5.99 you too can own this one of a kind cement sealer”
@mikesnow Hank Aaron took greenies …. I don’t hear the same amount of hate for hank. Players in his take took amphetamines, players in bonds day took juice. Answer me this: What’s more valuable? Being able to slow time down and have hyper reflexes that give you a way better shot to make contact? Or hitting a ball harder? The object is to hit the ball, juice doesn’t help your hand eye coordination. Bonds had better hand eye than hank without amphetamines. Game set match, you are done now son, have a seat, grab some pine to go along with your wine.
No one is making any excuse for bonds. He's the best no matter what. No matter what metric you use. Could have been only 30 guys in the whole league who weren't on juice. No way to know. But we can know , is Barry was the best hitter ever. No one is even close. Maybe he only hits 650 hr without juicing. Still the most dominant battery by far . Only Ruth comes close. Aaron was never even the best hitter during his Era. Never
Uh Bonds played 147 games, the most of anyone that season for the Giants so I don’t think the manager was truly concerned that Barry wasn’t going to show up and he also knew that if anyone deserves some leeway it would be the 39 year old still leading the team in runs, hrs, and batting average.
@@thecatwrangler9448 all due respect i think u may have misunderstood me my point was aj was spot on and its a shame barry got black balled he had a good 2 to 3 years left in my opinion. But i agree with your coment.
@@mattnoah8309lol yeah we do facts he helped give us the rights to talk shit to the Cub fans about why we brought a ring to the city and they didn’t at the time. I gloated for 11 yrs. Until 2016 lol.
@@themilkmansfuckinyawaaaf if LeBron wanted to show up 10 minutes before the game dress like a circus clown, there is nothing that the coach can do. Same thing with Barry bonds. Dude wasn't a leader
Oh wow. I'm so glad I came to the comments section. I learned so much about how great a hitter Bonds was by listening to a complete idiot talk about how the all time HR leader was intentionally walked. Fkn simp
@@Outright_Mike he was just toxic. Didnt work well with the pitchers. Bunch of stories came out how he didn’t join meetings with pitchers to prep games. There’s a bunch out there about him but he’s hated in SF
Growing up a Red Sox fan. Id have to say that Ted Williams was the greatest hitter of all time. How many home runs would Teddy ball game would have hit, if he didn't serve in WWII and korea.
@waylonmercy1533 like I said. Give Teddy Ballgame his average home runs the year he spent in Wars and he's the all-time home run leader. Plus he's still the last player to average over 400 for a season in the MLB
@waylonmercy1533 give me no steroid Willuams in his prime, over small dicked Barry. A Ted Willams without WWII and Korea would have had a home run record Barry would never even sniffed with his little dick. Andy Van Slykes words, not mine. He said he watched Barry' s. Dick shrink so much it basically became an inny.
Whoa whoa. Wait a second. Barry bonds got special treatment and could do things other players couldn’t? How wild. Yes. Upload this. The world needs to know this wild injustice!!
Barry has to take his nap. You don't mess with that. Story is... he'd go into cage.... hit 2 or 3 balls knew his swing was good and would go take a nap till about half hour before start.
That's what everyone who hates on him doesn't get. He was so much better it'd not quantifiable. 04 bonds, even without any juice(speculation that he even was juicing), would crush any pitcher in mlb history. Only Nolan Ryan and Pedro even have a shot to come out ahead. They feared his eye at the plate , pitch selection, and ability to make contact. His power was secondary to all of those things
@@honchosaysof no u give ruth steriods and the other shit barry was taking and all the new sport science and he hits 1000 hr easy same goes for griffey he hit 630 clean imagine on the roids
@the milk If juice just makes you the best ever…. Why did Ryan Braun struggle to hit 30? Lmao Why didn’t Brady Anderson hit 70? Ken caminetti?piazza? Fat David? Juan Gonzalez?tejada? Dozens and dozens maybe hundreds and no other 70 home run hitters? Seems you know nothing about steroids. Line three guys up and give them all 250mg of test and you will get three different results. Every . Single. Time. Why doesn’t everyone put exactly 50 pounds on their bench when they do a cycle? Fact is someone puts 20 on someone puts 100 on the bench. It’s genetics and talent too, hard work, you don’t shove a needle in your butt and become Superman. That’s not how this works, it’s unfortunate for your argument, but that’s the reality.
Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn, and Barry Bonds were probably the three greatest hitters to ever play the game and I had the privilege to watch two of them throughout their magnificent careers. Barry Bonds was undoubtedly a Hall of Fame player prior to ever taking a single steroid, but his legacy will now forever be tainted in my eyes. Sure it gave him a couple of more years and the home run records, but was it worth it? Only Barry could truly answer that question and I am not sure if he even knows himself.
And how many greenies did hank take? Talking bout how juice helps? I guess taking amphetamines and seeing a beach ball come at you doesn’t help lmao That was a good laugh. Hank was nice I liked hank but he’s not facing the guys bonds did and he was on greenies cheating but nobody wants to admit that.
While I think bonds is better, the pitching wasn't that much better for Barry. Also , Barry was allowed to wear body armor like he was a juggernaut in call of duty. In the 60s and 70s he'd have been blasted back into the dugout trying to crowd the plate the way he did . He wouldn't have been able to hug the plate and therefore wouldn't have had as much success at the plate. There's no arguing that either. That said, I still find him to be the best hitter of all time. Ted Williams and baby Ruth are only other candidates in my opinion. Everyone plays within their own Era and they can't be compared fairly. So based on dominance , those 3 are the clear cut best hitters of all time. I don't think Aaron makes the convo. Mays gehrig, and a few others rank as better hitters than Aaron for me. But he's still an elite hitter and no less than 10th best batter of all time. None of the top 25 hitters in mlb history should be diminished or slighted. They were all elite and no doubt hall of gamers.
I’ve got a 100% true bonds story during season he hit 73 home runs. It involves cocaine prostitutes and all started after a Sacramento kings game. Ex Brewer Greg Vaughn was also involved as well.
Get em in!! Him, Roger...as a kid growing up and being one of the better players in football and basketball yet one of the WORST! when it came to the art if hitting a baseball! Now defensively, the opposite... Hitting could have but my confidence was forever shattered when i failed to make a LL team! So that being said, i was and still am a fan of the rawhide! Many, not all, juiced. Still gotta throw hard and accurate enough and hardest of all...u guessed it... hit that damn ball!!! And guess who was the GREATEST ive ever seen!!! A BAD MAN!!! BARRY BONDS!!!
Watch some players who didn't need a " chemical romance " to perform @ Hall of Fame levels. The only player I have ever seen who's head dbl'd size. Roid head . Tony Gwynn, Albert Pujols, Miggy, Stan " the man " Roberto Clemente, "Shoeless " Joe Jackson, etc pretty bold statement from somebody who does not matter AJ !
He wasn't the best of all time before he injected himself with steroid so that's the end of the conversation. You want to say he was a Hall of famer and an all-time great and fine but he wasn't the best before he stuck a needle in his ass so it's not really anything to talk about
Nah, he just needed steroids to get paid like the other guys did. He was a top 20 hitter before them. The best ever with them. And a force at the plate that no one will ever replicate or even come close to matching. How do you cope with his walk to ko ratio? Even if we exclude half the intentional walks?
He doesn't have a ring, only because Dusty Baker took out Russ Ortiz in Game 6 of 2002 WS. If you knew anything, you'd know there have been teams that won titles, when players didn't even like each other.
@@christophernelson2423 Yep, baseball is an individual sport masquerading as a team game. Team chemistry isn't worth crap in the game unlike football & basketball.
Dusty is a poor manager. I’ll be nice and not attack him like he deserves He blew the arms out of many young men, he pitched the dog snot outta guys til their arms fell off. I’m not for this 100’max pitch no matter what non sense but dusty needs that rule. It was prolly made after ol toothpicks poor load management. On a different note razor Ramone is looking down with a smile
Consider that mad dude took juice and never hit bonds level… yes Big Mac hit 70 But he was usually not hitting 300 or getting on base at a .500 clip lmAo Nice try Sosa McGwire Ortiz Canseco Gonzalez (Juan and Luis) Braun Rodriguez (pudge and Alex) Tejada Palmeiro None of them had those stats. All of them were on. So …. I guess it’s not a miracle drug after all, why won’t hey hit 700?
I figure if Bonds is resting then they'd try to play their most powerful roster they can, but if Bonds is playing then they can rest many other strong players. That way the team is roughly the same strength every game.
Actually he has a better obp than them and.. take into consideration he was a power hitter…. And… rarely struck out. He is better than both of them and is not even close. You could say they are better in batting average, only that.
Barry Bonds walked 1000 xs more than he struck out! Barry Bonds was on base 50 percent of the time for his entire 22 year career . Barry Bonds has 762 Home runs while batting 298 and there is someone better
@@jamaalhorton2343yes,the guys not on roids.Take 15% of stats away from all in the roids era and make sure they don’t get in the HOF.That’s fair. They got the extra $for cheating and filling seats and that’s enough.it’s a shame!!!
@@jamaalhorton2343 well, there is Ted Williams, who spent the bulk of his best years in the cockpit of fighter jets .My money is on Ted Williams every single time, then Mays and Ruth and whoever else you choose to put in that line. Extraordinarily gifted players.
It’s really simple. If AJ was on your team you loved him, if he was on the other team you hated him. White Sox ‘05. Loved him. Only player in the history of baseball to steal first base.
Barry was a DH right? Kind of weird that they would change the whole lineup (or at least the catcher) when they could just swap the DH position (or whatever Barry's position was.
im not really sure if i believe this, because this was the same guy who refused to go over pitches and players with the starting pitcher while he was with the giants.
Barry didn’t play day games after night games, I missed the opportunity to see him twice because of it. Opposed to Kobe said that he would play even when he was broken because he knew fans came just to see him

Steroids doesn't make you a better hitter. Strength does equal hand eye coordination and pitch selection. He was a HOFer before roids. Do your research
Jim Leyland was the only manager/coach Bonds had that wouldn't put up with his shit. He was molly coddled from the time he was at ASU all thru his career
Sorry bud, but I'm gonna have to call BS on that. It's easy to say stuff like that from the cheap seats, but when you're dealing with the all time HR leader you'd probably give them some leeway, too.
True, but some leeway. Yes,but he doesn't make the team. He tried that in Pittsburgh, Leland did have any of it. Cause if you allow him to get away with it,what make you think others won't follow. Yes it will be a hard decision to make to sit down a threat, but sometimes you have to lose a battle to win a war.
When bonds allegedly started juicing, he starting hitting less ground balls , and increase his fly ball rate. Steroids don't turn ground balls into fly balls, let alone homeruns. Unless you don't know physics, then keep your weak opinion on this matter. I've posted other comments regarding the other changes he made around that time at the plate , on this video. But you'll see steroids did little to affect his numbers. Lower k rate. Go ahead and try to argue your weak media talking points
It's always the sub-par wannabee great baseball players who think Bonds is the best hitter ever. My guess is he used steroids too but he still wasn't that good so Bonds is like his hero cuz it made him alot better
It's always the people who think bonds hitting hr is all due to steroids. Bonds elevated his fly ball rate around 2000 , and also lowered his ground ball rate. Significantly in both categories. Do you not believe in physics? Ground balls don't turn into fly balls , and certainly not homeruns from steroids. His change in hitting style and philosophy coincides with his alleged steroid use . But the truth is , without steroids, the only difference in his career numbers is he has more doubles and less homeruns. And even that is just purist wishful hopium. Almost all of his hrs after 2000 were hrs for anyone with such good contact swinging the bat, except ichiro
Dont let ur personal feelings get in the way - Bonds was the best hitter ever, the most feared by pitchers and managers ever. Thats fact, no amount of steroids made anyone as good as Bonds
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jesus?! That's funny af! Not only conflating the two sports but also ignoring LeBron spends a good time past his 32 season on the injured list, your confidence is conflating the two and the sports 🤯💀🤡
What relevance is that? Nothing. Better question do you understand baseball? Answer, No. We're talking about bonds being roided and if he wasn't he would'nt have had a career resurgence in his mid 30s, he would've declined like pujols.
@@fartkicker vs Roided pitchers like Roger Clemens? Roided pitchers vs roided hitters, OR non roided pitchers- who pitched more innings vs the likes of Williams.
No. Just Barry bonds. The guy who started hitting more fly balls, lowered his ground ball rate, and amazingly hit more home runs. Lots of guys have done the same. You gonna call all them juicers too?
Barry Bonds was the best hitter in the MLB ever. He is the only guy Managers wouldn't throw to, and feared by every pitcher. Look up Maddux look up Gagne or any pitcher that faced him. He could change the game with one swing. Rose and Gwynn were greats, but did not strike fear they way Bonds did. The eye hand coordination, and to know the strike zone so well, is unmatched. Best of all time.
@@BoogerBrains1987hahaha batting average hahahahahah Hahahahaha There are plenty of .298 slap hitters throughout baseball history. Nobody was scared to pitch to them.
I’ll always love AJ for his game winning hit against the A’s. So nothing against AJ. And Barry is the best hitter ever ya know *ON STEROIDS. Just a minor detail lol.
Barry had a big head to begin with, then the roids blew it up like a basketball, to bad he messed with the roids. He would of been in the HOF. His HR records of 73 in one season and 762 lifetime will always be tainted . In my eyes aaron is alltime HR leader and judje is single season HR leader.
