In this video I share my thoughts on why I think barrel mounts are the perfect way to attach flashlights to your AK pattern rifle and review two of my favorite barrel mounts.
Note: I bought both mounts with my own money.

I use the bm1 and I am quite happy with it. I still hit my targets just fine and I can keep my wood furniture 😁

I’ve seen a light mount that locks onto the bayonet lug for m16/m4 series blasters and that would be a great item to develop and sell for kalash blasters.

That indeed seems like an interesting concept. I wish I had access to a CNC 😂

@@vorwaerts_nie_zurueck I guess you could cad and 3D print a prototype for cheap. Or make casting sand out of used motor oil and sand. Melt down aluminum cans and cast yourself a few to account for bad casts. Once you have a prototype you can patent the design and contract a cnc machine to crank them out for you.

For mounting a flashlight, the RS as it's lighter and has a lower profile. For a LAM either a new handguard or the Midwest

I wonder how any lights and lasers would hold up against the heat of the barrel and gas tube…

My Fenix light holds up since years without any problems. It builds up some gunk but wiping it down every time I clean the gun does the trick. For lasers, I don't have any long time observations

Not really, they are always safe to touch

Are there any options mounted so the rail is in the 6 oclock position (cleaning rod removed)?

I prefer the RS Regulate BM. When I want to mount a laser, I prefer to get an extended hand guard, the ergonomics are otherwise a bit wonky. So the use case when mounting a flashlight only, just works better with the RS, as its less bulky.

Yeah it's rather pricey, but well made. These are the hardships of owning AKs 😂

Don’t put a price on your life. If something is primo and makes all the difference, it is priceless. Buy once cry once.

@@aribpm if it's your work / primary rifle, sure i agree price shouldn't be a factor (if your budget allows it). Otherwise, whatever floats your boat and works

@@vorwaerts_nie_zurueck when I first got into guns (2005) the thought of spending $100 on a optic or part was absurd to me. Now the parts and optics total up more than the gun cost sometimes. Optic, light, tail cap, mount, switch, alone on one rifle is $1200. It gets expensive but when you need it you know it’s going to work. Hopefully 🤞

With the RS regulate on, I still managed to hit a target on 400m with the magnifier and the eotech, so I guess it's accurate enough 😊

Things like ammo play a big factor, also how accurate is the average shooter vs how accurate they think they are. Go for center-mass like always.

@vorwaerts_nie_zurueck most engagements probably won't even be happening out that far anyways. People will find anything irrelevant to complain about unfortunately.
