Thanks for a great, serious, in-depth tutorial. This is so much better for the beginner than the many rushed treatments out there. It is also interesting to hear the thinking behind your musical decisions. Looking forward to viewing your other tutorials.

Thanks for this -- very useful. However, certain elements went by very quickly and were difficult to follow as a beginner, for example trying to follow what you were doing with the XY effects was difficult. Still, I learned more from this Force video than any other so far, so thank you for that.

Hi Wolfgang. This was a fantastic video. I got the Force about a month ago and was a little bewildered by the whole thing. So much to learn, but where to start. It’s great to see someone break down their workflow and show how they amalgamate the individual components into the finished article. This has given me much more confidence and insight on how/where to start. Wunderschön P.S Do you always start with the melodic sections before the percussion and beat elements?

Hello Shaun, glad to hear that my video was helpful. In 80% of the time I start with the drums as probably most of us do. But if you feel like lacking inspiration, trying to find interesting sounds or melodies can help you to feel inspired again. That's why I didn't use my typical approach.

Hi. well done. Do you use anything else besides Akai for mixing and mastering that it sounds so clean and deep? regards
@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows 2 года назад
Thank you. Everything you hear is only the pure audio signal that comes out of the Force without any post processing. As you can see, I am only using a limiter on the master channel and do not even add an eq. Most of the mixing process is done while creating the track. I always get the feeling that the sound of my Force productions are much cleaner and powerful (especially the low end) than in my ableton productions, even though I use professional mastering plug ins like the Ozone Mastering Suite. The Force simply sounds amazing without having to add much to it!

@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows 2 года назад
Thank you. The stand is from Fonik. They make awesome stands for all kinds of music equipment. You can either buy the parts and put them together yourself or you can also order the complete stand. But in the latter case you pay twice as much.
@jesset3241
@jesset3241 2 года назад
@@wolfgang_grows Nice, i was looking at those earlier today. A little pricey, but every comment i've read about them has been positive.
@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows 2 года назад
@@jesset3241 The quality is awesome, but 160 bucks for the top notch Akai Force stand from Fonik is definitely too expensive. You could easily get a synth like one of the Korg Volcas for that money. That's why I decided on the stand for 70 bucks which you have to assemble yourself.

Thank you for the video, was wanting to cheek out the force workflow, and I am stunned/ and disappointed at how much the operation relies on the touch screen considering how much HW real-estate the Force has .. Is there not a encoder follow mode (where the encoders reflect/edit what is going on on the display or user shortcuts to screens via hold/shitf + a pad )? thanks!
@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows Год назад
You can activate an option in which the knobs change the parameters on the screen and I'm using this workflow more often today than I did 1 year ago when the Force was still relatively new to me and when I created this video.

Hey, have you given this song a name? Its phenomenal! Edit: Also a quick question for somebody who just started using this part of the melody making, how did you move your root note to the top third bar? I'm in the correct key and everything but my root note lane is showing up near the BOTTOM

don't the wood sides block the cooling vents? looks good though
@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows 2 года назад
That's exactly what I was worried about too in the beginning. However, since there is more than 1 cm between the left and right side of the force and the stand and since there is enough open space below, in the back and in the front of the unit for the air to circulate, the force doesn't get hot at all.

Is there not an ''encoder follow screen'' and user shortcuts to menus via pad options? seams like the workflow is 85% touch screen 15% hardware.. I would have imagined the encoders would be use to display and edit during operation ..

You can activate an option in which the knobs change the parameters on the screen and I'm using this workflow more often today than I did 1 year ago when the Force was still relatively new and this video was created. Menudiving is hard to avoid if you use a groovebox like a daw. 90% of the available shortcuts and Force button combos are used in that video.

If you want a workflow that mostly relies on turning knobs and pushing buttons, you should take a look at the Elektron Syntakt or Digitakt.

I’m lost right from the start! Which pluck sound? Which buttons did you press as you chose it… I have no idea! Maybe this is a tutorial for people who already know what they’re doing but not for beginners like me. Thank you anyway for making this available I will come back later.
@wolfgang_grows
@wolfgang_grows 2 года назад
Hey there! This tutorial already explains the process in very small steps. If I mentioned every single detail the tutorial would be at least twice as long. For this tutorial you need lots of time. So coming back later might be a good idea. Don't be fixated on using exactly the same pluck sound I picked ( it's from the f9 instrument expansion as stated in the video), just pick another pluck sound that you like. PS: It doesn't say anywhere that this is a tutorial for absolute beginners...

@@wolfgang_grows I've noticed in other tutorials that sub titling what buttons you press works very well with beginners, probably time consuming for yourself but it would target a larger audience in the long run. Keep up the good work anyway I'm learning a lot through them already
