Please don’t give up on the Force! Your videos are among the very best out there for teaching us how to use it. If you can find one brand new or much newer it might be more reliable. On the other hand, if it does in fact have a widely documented high fail rate then I do understand if you give it up.

The Force is still the only unit that does what it does. The P3 has already come and gone. It’s a never was. All of the Akai devices are easy to service and the parts are available. You only need patience and some basic soldering skills. Don’t be afraid to take it apart. Set your camera up so you can see where everything goes while you are doing it.

That sucks. I buy all my gear used and haven’t had that kind of nonsense. Hope akai does the right thing. If not I’d open it up and see what it needs. You can do it! 👍🏾

I have thunk of another solution, if repairs don’t work . You could install the ssh enabled firmware, then access the file system, and delete the many midi learn templates ( these are part of the Mpc firmware) , then create a new template in the free Mpc beats software that corresponds to a midi controller of your choice, then copy this template to the location of the previously deleted templates. These controls will now be your qlinks . It will work . I am on an Mpc one and can swap between both Mpc and force firmwares using a korg nano kontrol for qlinks etc.

I’m sure there will be a diagnostic mode that checks all buttons and knobs etc, there is on the Mpc for sure . I had the main button on the Mpc one fail probably still in warranty, but I’d bought it used akai would not do a thing, although I repaired it myself, it was clear it was a design flaw, as the pressing of the buttons pushed the solder pads away from the circuit board. If the diagnostic mode confirms they are not working, I would open it up and give em a squirt with contact cleaner, this has. Worked for me on all my dodgy encoders. Didn’t need to do it with NOVATION equipment, they sent replacements out free of charge. I have to say, opening a FORCE is a pretty complex task… The inside is packed AF with tons of different things everywhere, with weird angles etc… Nothing is impossible with patience, organization and dexterity. But you need patience, organization and dexterity. 😂

Oh no..... I bought mine new when it came out, first one got really hot top left of screen. Second was fine. Ive had my mpc live since Jan 2018.. not a problem with q links?

Sounds like a bad batch. I hope you get another Force since you're one of the best at making demo's for it. I also just started my channel & made a video of the BOSS DR-202 going into 2 Force FXs. Check it out if you can. Peace & good luck with your Force.
