I loved visiting the herb garden in what the locals called Grehan Valley. Gillian was an amazing person and a neighbour of mine. I remember her setting out the grounds to its full established herb garden. The crowds varied at differing times of the season and was best when it was queiter. Gillian had a small open cottage that blended with the land and with the sound of the stream forever present. Gillian would offer a free tea and or scone in those quieter times and towards the end of the season she and volunteers would be seen binding the herbs for drying. She was a creator and artisan that blended with the landscape. I am the person who built Mill Cottage (not the original of course)
Thank you so much for your most interesting recollections of Gillian and the herb farm. Nice to also know you built the new Mill Cottage. A building I'm sure will stand for the next 100 years.
I was late to catch a plane and did not have time to film the inside. When I go back to New Zealand I will make a film which will show the inside. Thank you.
