The Academic Karelia Society (Akateeminen Karjala-Seura, AKS) was a Finnish nationalist and Finno-Ugric activist organization aiming at the growth and improvement of newly independent Finland, founded by academics and students of the University of Finland in 1922.

1. Tää kansamme kauan on kamppaillut,
Se seissut on ryssiä vastaan.
Se ei ole orjaksi antautunut,
Ei luopunut kalleimmastaan.
Se ei ole tahrannut kunniataan,
Vaan takaisin Suomellensa,
Se viha ja rakkaus rinnassaan
On vaatinut vapautensa.
2. Ne voittomme lunnaat jos kalliit lie,
Niin sittenkin kesken on työmme,
Ja kyynelin käyty jos onkin se tie,
Niin kerran me vieläkin lyömme.
Niin kauan on iskevä Suomen mies
Ja uhma sen kalvassa kestää,
Kuin katkee ne kahleet kuin kirpoo se ies,
Mi heimomme herruutta estää.
3. Me kuulemme Karjalan kanteleen
Viel’ itkevän vangitun kieltä.
Käy veitsenä veljein se sydämeen
Ja Kullervon nostaa se mieltä.
Me nousemme voimalla kirkastamaan
Tään kansamme kauneinta unta,
Ja kerran myös juhliva vapauttaan
Suur-Suomen on valtakunta.
4. Me tahdomme suureksi Suomenmaan,
Me voitamme vastustajan.
Ja Vienanlahdesta Laatokkaan
Me piirrämme miekalla rajan.
Se meidän on veljinä velvollisuus,
Tää veikot on tunnus-sana:
Suur-Suomelle aamu on koittava uus’

English
1. Our people have fought long,
Stood against Russians,
Haven't surrendered as slaves
And abandoned their most precious,
Haven't soiled their honour
But back to their Finland
With wrath and love in their heart
Have demanded their freedom.
2. Though the ransom for our victory might have been costly
Our task hasn't been finished yet
And even if our path would be tearful
We still keep on striking.
As long the Finnish man keep on striking
As the defiance lasts in his sword
Until the shackles were broken and yoke thrown away,
Which prevents the supremacy of our tribe.
3. We hear the Karelian zither
Still weeping the language of oppressed
It strikes our hearts as a knife
Still raises Kullervos spirit
We shall rise with vigor to embrighten
Our people's most beautiful dream
Once again shall celebrate it's liberty,
The realm of Greater Finland!
4. We want to make Finland Great
And overcome our adversary
And from the White Sea to Lake Ladoga
With our sword we draw a border.
That's our duty as brothers
And hearken brothers this is our creed:
"To Greater Finland the new dawn will come
Even brighter than the dream".
