We are planning to go on Nov and I like to be the most prepared as I can, I'm loving the serie, thanks for sharing, nice work!!! regards from Panama!!!
Dude! I absolutely love your youtube videos on Japan. Presented well, funny, to the point with no wasted time or scenes. I also like that you're focusing on places that aren't well known. Keep it up!!
So glad you enjoy the videos and I appreciate the compliments! I hope you check out some of these places one day, and I hope to hear from you in the future!
Dude, I've browsed your assortment of 2023 vids... you really put these together well! Heading to Tokyo Christmas week 2023 and my Akihabara day is looking pretty awesome :). Thanks for your great work!
I'm so glad I could help you out with planning your trip to Japan ! And I will always take time to reply to anyone who takes the time say such kind things about the channel as well, so thank you ! Let me know if you have any other questions for your trip!
I love your videos but Im only gonna be in tokyo 4 1/2 days later this year and my itinerary is already stacked, I dont know how much more i can cram into it
Super Potato in Akihabara was fun, but way overpriced and super picked through. I found a lot of the other shops in the area had better prices and better inventories. One of them was called Retro Game Camp I think. That being said, Super Potato has kind of become a tourist spot on its own, so I do think its worth a visit even if you don't buy anything.
Agreed. The prices weren't cheap, but the ability to have so much crammed into one shop is convenient. It's also really cool with the arcades at the top floor!
@@AyaV18 lmao! You could certainly attract some looks being a tourist in a super hidden spot of Tokyo 🤣. Oh shoot! I'll have to put the pin down on the description to help you out!
@harblife no worries bro i was super busy with my own plans myself honestly, I spent 2000 dollars on a Gameboy lol 😆 I plan to return in the summer with my wife 😌 Hopefully then we can meet 🙏
I'd hate to sound like a food snob, but wagyu is a breed of cattle with a very beautiful and balanced marbling of fat content within their meat, and that is what makes it a special thing to try. When it comes to making a burger, it is always ground beef where you have full control of the balance of fat to lean meat, so getting such a rare cut of meat and grinding it up would be a waste and is often just a fancy way to sell the less desirable cuts that can't be used for steak. So I'm not saying you shouldn't go to wagyu burger, but I wouldn't consider it "having tried wagyu" for anyone who is trying to make sure they tick that box on a trip.
Thanks for the clarification! I suppose it might not be as close as eating a cut of wagyu beef, but it was very good nonetheless. And it was pretty cheap and fast service. 👍
Hey man love your vids! How do you order / pay in those restaurants? I've seen tons of japan food tour videos but rarely do they include the ordering and payment process. As someone who doesnt speak much japanese it scares me because I'll be going there soon.
You can order by pointing at things on the menu they're usually pretty understanding. You can also say "osusume" which means "recommend something for me ". And the take card most of the time but always have cash on you
@@harblife Learned the hard way to always have cash on you because even going to a big chain like yoshinoya, it was literally my first time where they didn't accept card (mind you it was right next to a station) luckily I'm traveling with my husband so I just stayed at the restaurant and hubby went to go to a nearby 7/11 to grab cash
I'll be there in 2 days. I can't wait to have Japanese food. There are so many amazing looking vegan restaurants and I'll try to visit as many as I can :)
I added them on my Thatch profile. It's hard to mark it down any other way. You could just DL the Thatch app real quick, get the location, and then uninstall after. But would appreciate the support!
I have my trip on a couple of weeks and I am super exited! Your videos have help me a lot !!!! ❤ but I do have a question maybe you can help me ! I am going with my best friend! He got the 2 COVID shots but he don’t want to get the booster he rather do a PCR test! we live in Florida USA , what places are 100% secure for Japan Tokyo Haneda to accept the PCR test please ! I don’t want to go through some trouble can you please help me !!! Anyone!! Any knowledge in the matter
LOL i was wondering where radio Kaikan was on my last visit this past november. i was blown away at how many stores and floors it had. in the end it was also a great landmark for me to find the station . i must say i messed up then, i kept putting off a ramen shop, Coco Curry and Yoshinoya... its on my list for next visit. i did visit thr vending machines at night, such an experience
Hahaha yes it's hiding in plain sight. Cool building though! I'm sad you didn't try cocos while you were here it's soo good. Just have to get it next time !
@@harblife funny story with that, i happened upon a shrine holding its usual food festival on the last day in Tokyo. i had to buy some stuff to eat and misjudged how much food it was LOL. was too full a bit too late before i had to head to the airport. i had around 2hrs to explore the last hotel area to pass the time. that food stall area filled me up.
Thanks for the video! I am planning going in July for the first time ever and I want to explore all of akihabara from top to bottom, but its so far rpoving slightly difficult on estimating how long that would take. Would appreciate any advice :D
Thanks for the comment ! I would say you could hit most if not all of Akihabara in one solid day . Maybe a little more than a day , but you could go to Asakusa or Ueno after since it's close by.
Anywhere from 2-3 days if you’re first timer and want to explore Akihabara deeply. The shops open from 12pm to 8pm and what Herb is covering in his video is the extra hidden gems that Akihabara has to offer haha. I think just his video is easily 1 full day of exploration alone. There’s themed cafes like Eorzea Cafe Akihabara that is also located nearby and Super Potato is just one building out of the dozens. Just imagine buildings with multiple floors of merchandise. Plus the charm of Akihabara is that they’re the quickest when it comes to updating their wares to the latest anime popularity.
Going to Japan for my first time in exactly 50 days from now and I will absolutely be trying that Oni level ramen from Kikanbo 🫡 Thank you for another great video full of great advice!
I would say they're about the same. Akihabara has more selection , but is farther away from a lot of other things in Tokyo. Just weigh the pros and cons of each one or just visit them both 😊
!!!!Tip on the replica weapons!!!!! Get them shipped to you via a postal service when on holiday. NO the airport will not allow you to bring them on a plane. Seriously i think some people forget this on the way back to the airport from a holiday.
@@edwardfletcher7790 looking at a particular area of Tokyo and defining it by just one thing is very one-dimensional. Each area is famous for something, but doesn't mean it's the only cool attraction there. Plus, everyone knows about the famous parts of each area of Tokyo, so my videos aim to cover all the other great things to do there as well. Whether you choose to visit them or not is up to you, but I give people the option by making them aware there is more to see than the tourist hotspots 👍.
hmmm,... actually,... I'm glad Akihabara got taken over by anime, manga and maid cafes ... long ago I used to go here to shop for electronic parts but these days I just use Digikey and Mouser ... it's good that the city was revitalized by nerds and weebs !!!
Transparency issue-Are you being compensated to mention businesses that you mention- if so you should say so. If not you should say so which would give credence to your reviews and recommendations as being independant
that upbeat presenter voice is honestly kind of jarring. I feel like so many travel youtubers try way too much to sound as excited as possible but like man does it really have to be played up that much?
It keeps my videos more energetic and keeps me more animated during my recordings. I might experiment with a more normal voice in future videos though. We will see!
@@harblifeI think the problem for me personally is that i can basically see the script in front of you. A lot of travel/how to youtubers have this cadence and it ends up feeling synthetic and insincere. In all fairness i could never do what you do and it takes genuine commitment and skill to craft scripts that are actually engaging and interesting so honestly more power to you man.
