Welcome back Akira Bike Project Fans and recubment motorcycle / feet forward motorcycle enthusiasts! In this video I get started on a massive 8' long modular frame jig and build the platform out of two 2'x4' certiflat welding tables making a single flat 8 foot long base for a modular frame jig.
Follow along while I'm designing and building a fully functional high performance recumbent (aka feet forward) motorcycle inspired by Kaneda's ride in "Akira" in this ambitious motorcycle project.

Looks like my workbench lol I bout went through as much hell on my workbench as you did is why I'm laughing so hard about the rubber being more a mess as I had one heck of a mess too on my table just not leather and rubber

Yeah that thing was crazy to cut apart, much more work than I anticipated. Editing made it look less terrible than it actually was, I didn't want to dwell on it much but it sucked, lol.

Nice job on the jig! Quick question: What band saw is that, and did it come with the hydraulic piston?

Thanks! That bandsaw is the 5"x6" swivel head from Grizzly.com (model Grizzly G9742) The piston does come with it

Electric in hub motors are now available, no need for petrol motor. Just letting you know bud.

Yup! I plan on making hybrid versions and all electric versions. Hub motors do have challenges of their own, they substantially increase unsprung weight which decimates suspension response and thus control in emergency situations, ligther weight ones still require transmissions to handle the RPM and torque ranges necessary, and motorcycles in general have less room for batteries due to the physical laws of scaling, and battery energy densities are still an order of magnitude less than petrol. Currently, and for the foreseable future, electric motorcycles are much more expensive and even less useful than regular petrol powered bikes. Plugin hybrids give the best of both worlds imo and my platform can comfortably handle all the requirements!
