Akito Sohma's Isolation (Fruits Basket) 

Fruits Basket is an extremely touching story about love and togetherness that takes great care to analyze the nuances surrounding the relationships of its characters. Akito Sohma is indeed a frightening antagonist, and I'm not claiming that her childhood trauma makes her a blameless victim in everything that happened in her life, but that the complexities of her past are worth exploring while considering her role in the story.
