How to setup and play Akrotiri by Jay Cormier and Sen-Foong Lim. Akrotiri is a 2-player only pick up and deliver game with tile placement that was originally published in 2014 and plays in about 45 minutes to an hour. ZMan games has reprinted it in 2017 with 2 new player colors and new goal cards.

Great explanation! Played for the first time today, and after watching your video afterwards I see where we missed a few small details (empty boat can move 2 per action). Will be fun to play again after following your directions. Thanks

I appreciate the comment and I’m glad it cleared a few things up. This was one of my first rules videos so it’s not as succinct or scripted as I like to do now so I’m glad you still found it helpful :) We haven’t played this in a while, it might be time to pull it back out.

You’re welcome, I hope it helped! This was an earlier video I made before I found my “ideal” format. I kind of want to redo it but i think it’s good enough to get the gist of the rules across. I mostly hate how it doesn’t just jump right in to the rules, my babbling in the beginning takes too long!

the oracle action confuses me. so whats stopping everyone to just always go through the pile to get the color they need? Why draw randomly at all? Also, what do you do with the tiles that were not chosen?

Two things you might have missed: 1. The oracle action costs an action point so you might not want to spend an action to do it and 2. You have to be docked at Thera in the middle to do it so if you’re far away it might not even be an option. I believe the discarded tiles just stay in a discard pile but I’d have double check the rules on that one. Hope that helps!

@@MyklSkeleton so each tile you turn over and look at costs 1 action? or going through the entire deck of tiles costs 1 action?

It costs 1 action to flip tiles from the deck until you find the color you want, it’s not 1 action for every tile you flip.

@@MyklSkeleton that just seems OP. When my friend and I were playing it we thought surely we must be doing something wrong because why not just always go through the deck to find exactly the color you need for one action point? i think i will play with a house rule to nerf its power and make it more of a gamble. just being able to go through the entire deck to find the tile you need...why have a deck with a random draw at all?

a lapel mic, better lighting, and a tripod to stabilize those board view shots would help a lot. no fancy equipment, just some basic stuff. overall i liked it. good job.

LikeyNoLikey Thanks for the feedback! I actually researched lapel mics last week and have one coming soon, I hope it helps. I'll try and improve the lighting too but it's tricky since this is our game table. I'm always trying to improve so thank you for the suggestions!

You're welcome. I think the lighting could most be improved in the shots where your face is visible and you're holding the box btw. Best of luck with your channel.
