"SOUNDS LIKE 1972" that is the problem. Anyone who's ears are telling them this is absolutely delusional. He sounds fantastic FOR BEING 78 YEARS OLD. Sounds like Al Green 100%... But in no way does he sound like he did in 1972...
Luckily most the disrespectful comments have been buried by the positive ones now. They didn’t know what they talking about anyway 😂 Green still got strong stage presence & his voice much more intact than 90% of singers his age - and 100% of white singers ;)
@@JFullerTruth nah the negative ones were probably here at one time, those people talked about them early, but the disrespectful ones got buried because they not getting “likes”
It's just something special about his singing and music. Even when one of his hits like love and happiness just how he starts it off and the beats and then guitar sound come right after I tell you not just the adults be dancing even the younger children be laughing and stumping their feet at many family gathering I've been to and seen. God bless Al green.
I’m here in Memphis Tn with you sis. Unc still sounds and looks good for his age. I grew up in Whitehaven near Auburn and Raines not far from Al’s church. Much love ❤❤❤
❤ I can't play "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart!" But I love it!! Memories get in the way! ❤😊😢 Some of y'all know what I'm talking about. I used to tell my kids, 'that's grown folks music!' 😂
Why you sound like my great grandmother, she use to say….just keep living, as youngster, didn’t understand, but you hit the nail on the head, these young ppl don’t realize it’s a blessing to live & get older, cuz the alternative is to die young!
My brother loved Al Green, and he passed. He left me all his vinyls of all the old school. Ohio Players, Marvin Gay. I still listen to all of them. Best music ever!
So I’m 65. My mom passed at 85 2023 September. Pancreatic cancer. It was quick. I was raised n Oakland, Ca. Mom listened to The Great Al Green back when there were records lol. She was in a car accident in a cab. She was compensated. Purchased a wood console stereo which consisted of turn table tape player and radio. Like we were pooooor. Mom had become fond of alcohol due to not a support system and drank daily. During those increments she would play Al Green all day long, every day. When the album was finished she would call out, somebody put my record back on!!! 😅yes for a child it was hectic all hours of the night. She had no support system unless they came for money. That’s the sad part. The amazing part is we as children who loved their single mom living in West Oakland, Ca. all graduated from college bought her a home and the first thing that was put in the home was a stereo system. So she could play Al Green 24/7 if she so desired without neighbors complaining. So I just came across this RU-vid video of The Great Al Green it warms my heart. As my mom would say, hey somebody put my record back on play my Al Green❤. Thank you Mr. Green, you helped my family through. We children are still here.
My mom purchased those records also and would put the flat disk in the center so it would slide down the skinny pole in the center of the record player. That was fun times.
@@tonymckinney1355 Let’s see a full picture of what you look like from head to toe! Hum, you don’t even have a head shot while you’re trying to talk about someone else! World full of sad azz, negative social network twerps hiding behind their keyboards! 😏
Ron Isley is the closest. The only other singer who shares a similar voice. I've even read somewhere that some think Al Green's singing style may have been somewhat influenced by Ron Isley to some degree. Being that Ron Isley arrived on the scene ten years prior to Al Green.
My mom was his #1 fan! Even after she developed Dementia she could remember and sing all of Al Green songs! We played his songs everyday! I miss you momma and thank you Al Green for the wonderful music we enjoyed hearing my momma sing!!!
How is he still a reverend when he's done a turn around back to where he started the Bible says bitter water and sweet water can not come out of the same cistern ???❤James3:11-18
When your into ministry you can listen to music that promotes love and positivity.....I'm assuming a person supposed to listen to gospel making love to his wife as well??? Y'all people need to grow up and think about common sense.....@@frederickhunter4649
I’m 63 years younger and still ❤️me some AL Green from when I could remember as a teenager. My Mom ❤️him she used to attend his church and he always called her Momma and when she transitioned he did her Homegoing and it was Beautiful . Big 🆙 Al Green a true Legend 💯
I grew up in Whitehaven off Auburn and Brownlee just a couple of streets down from his church. I remember I seen Mr Green in Whitehaven Piccadilly’s. Good singer and still looks good for his age. Keep it up Al. Luv and Happiness
@@damewame3379 I lived in Whitehaven for many years and I know that area you talking about . I used to satay in the Difference Apts. off Winchester and also stayed in the Brookwood Apts also.Good Ole Days . Whitehaven used to be Popping back then.
@@Electriclady58864 I remember the Brookwood Apts. Yes that was the good ole days. It’s different now. Lol. My folks still stay in that area in the house I grew up in. They trying to build that area back up. Southland Mall I believe has about what 20 something stores. Still my hometown. Take care yourself
So many years of joy. It would be an honor if he just sat in a chair on stage for the entire show and the audience sang to him. He has earned that and we love what Al Green has done, and is still doing for us.
Oh my goodness!!! Looking AND sounding great!!!!!! 🎉🎉❤❤❤❤ a true legend! We are so lucky to still have one of our most talented black male singers still alive and sharing his gifts!!!! Thank you … Mr. Al Green for your years of blessing us with your music!
That man made music that will forever stand the test of time. Music that will never go out of fashion. Music that still is an absolute pleasure to listen to decades later. He’s a living legend. Period!
Young ones don't have a clue. We were so blessed to have had so much raw talent in our lives. No CG voice overs... Still in love with ya Rev. AL Green! Sure nuff in love wi' you! ❤❤❤
How could anyone in their right mind disrespect or hate on someone like Mr. Green. Must be someone who isn’t of the era.. Amazing that he still sounds like this..
God gifted him and never took it away. His voice is straight from heaven. The time goes by so fast age and time makes us change but his voice is untouchable. I fall asleep to the Im still in love with you album at least once a month. The sound track to my young middle and older life. ❤
He is still very. 'relevant' and the PUBLIC fans from all around still love HIM he is a living LEGEND. His music transcends generations.... always will. There is nothing like Mr. Al Green, I love his originality always will.
Al sounds great his band sounds great too! Yes he needs to lose weight, don’t some of us?! I know I do! He’s a national treasure. Black folks don’t appreciate people like Al Green . Thank you for sharing your video! 🙏🏾
Al Green has been my favorite since I was 13 years old. He can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and I would be happy. He is my absolute favorite!!!!!!!! I am so glad I found this video!
The disrespect towards our legendary OG’s are absolutely disgusting. I thought everyone was raised to respect their elders. Let’s appreciate them while we still have them, many didn’t make it to 30 and very few to 70. Rev. I humbly give you 🌹🌸💐🌺🌷 while you can smell them.
I was there, it was a pleasure to see and hear this legend 😊 I hope he does an evening with AL Green at one of the house of blues and he does the greatest hits album and whatever else he wants to sing for us 🙌🏾 I'm there 😊
We need people around us to speak life into us. . Great voice, but struggling in other areas like ALL of us. Praying for someone to speak health into this Legend. Great singing Mr. Green
Al Green is absolutely a LEGEND!!! My parents listened to his albums incessantly. I truly miss the 70s and wish I could re-live it. Al Green's music brings back sooooo many AWESOME CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.❤❤❤❤❤
AL Green's greatest hits got me through some challenging times in College. My friends used to laugh at me for listening to his "Old music"! Lol....But after two or three wine coolers in my dorm room on Friday nights every one of them got hooked like "crack" on those sweet melodies! We all laugh now about those wonderful memories over thirty years ago. Thank you Mr. Green! ❤️
Al Green still has a nice voice after all these years. Give him his flowers 💐 now while he can smell them. You can't expect him to still look like he's in is 30's. He just needs to lose some weight, and he will have more energy, but he still sounds good ❤
He looks age appropriate and sounds great! This absolutely made my day and put a big ole smile on my face. The Al Green, one of the greats & legends of all time.
Al Green has 4 grown beautiful daughters, he's a grandfather, and a great Granddad, and he's about in his 80s now. So let's all of us applaud him, and thank God that he's still alive when many famous great singers from his days are no longer here with us today. Don't judge, so that you won't be charged.
