He was languishing in Philly playing out of position. In OKC he was still good for the few games he played, too good for the tank actually. Thunder basically rehabbed him for a year and picked up 2 first rounders for their troubles.

They tried playing Horford at Power Forward next to Embiid, even though Al Horford plays like a power Forward since he can pass shoot and handle, but his natural position is center, he’s different from a guy like Bobby Portis who’s primary position is PF he’s a stretch 4, Al Horford didn’t always shoot threes he didn’t really start shooting three pointers until his first season with the Celtics, back in his Atlanta days he was a low post player who took all his shots inside 15 feet. Just like Brook Lopez back in his Brooklyn days he was a low post player but when he arrived in Milwaukee they converted him into a stretch 5.
