So I just found your channel and I'm subscribed. Didn't expect to see a AL Hornet video from you, and I hadn't seen one where you weren't talking so it made the video all the more depressing and hilarious lmao. Been playing the Al Hornet since I just got back after 6 years and it has been fun and depressing as hell to learn the new mechanics in. I think my top damage game was about 156k with a kraken so that was fun, but for the most part this is just not a good CV. 1. Plane speed and plane health are just good enough to function in Tier 8 games, get absolutely massacred in Tier X games. 2. AP bombers are just hell to maneuver and have the same problem as the tactical in that a lot of ships have increased deck armor. 3. Lexington is just more fun to play. 4. This feels like it got hit by blanket nerfs to CVs without properly accounting for it's damage output. 5. I can't help but feel this should play like. High plane HP, slow planes, hard hitting, low reserves. In other words it should play like a mini FDR. Still getting accustomed to how CVs work compared to how they used to especially as I play more BB's than anything, but I'm really hoping the other CVs I pick up are more fun to play.
Rei, my friend. I learned much from you and now i`m wondering about your gameplay in this battle and your captain`s skills. Hornet needs all 3 protective skills for the planes, so they get much more sturdy. Then your gameplay, i learned from you how to torp DD`s to hell and often had "first blood" doing that. The B-25 are very strong against DD`s, too, they can devstrike some when RNG kisses you. Hornet is one of my best CV`s, winrate 64 %, a little over 70.000 average damage after 70 battles. Making bad DD players cry is so much fun with torpedo bombers and crossdrops, and they cry louder when they get hit from a bunch of HE bombs from the B-25 bombers. She`s strong in tier 10 battles, too, i just keep it careful. A single Desmo, hugging an island? My prey! The secret is not to waste the motor boost, i always have the boost nearly full before an attack. Full speed at approach, then above the ship hit the brakes to make the AP-bombs fall more vertical and a Desmo gets some hard cit hits. Then accelerate and run away, save the rest of the flight group and attack with torpedo bombers or B-25, if ready. Playing in a division with good players helps much. They often make the best use from my spotting, blasting some ships to pieces before i can attack. I also use the ability of the torpedo bombers to turn in the attack run without getting a bad spread, so i often surprised some opponents who never knew about it. Hornet is good and strong, but needs experience. So i`m still wondering about your gameplay in this video and your hate about this good CV. Maybe you should start over with Hornet with new skilled 21 points captain?
It’s not the ship, it’s the deteriorating playerbase. Zero incentive to win, zero skill, just mindless grind to T10 to be useless there, complain and leave the game, come back and be even more useless cause in that time many changes were implemented. Back in 2018 the worst you could have as a teammate was a 44%, anything lower than that was very rare. Now you get sub 40%ers daily.
Partially the fault of MM and partially fault of the player base. Some do try to win and some just queue up to press W and use auto lock on secondaries or just general lack of tactical awareness which leads them to sit somewhere all the battle. As for Hornet... it's a gimmick of a ship which besides the B25 squad has nothing redeeming,from the armament to the squad sizes of normal attacking group
Yes, very easy to play & very fast regen time per plane, so you can make mistakes! Recommended this ship to a friend of me who started playing cv as well. I’ve got 74% WR in it with 400 games.
