My Lord..., Joe Sample was just KILLIN' it on the piano solo! I miss Al Jarreau and Joe Sample and this whole era of music, but what a blessing to be able to watch this.
Yes both are masters beyond compare. I watched both of them perform together in Rotterdam, Holland back in 1992 - they were smoking!! RIP Al Jarreau and Joe Sample.
Yes-- Master musicians-- they bring back great memories--the days of my youth--back in the 1970s-- I think of Al--Joe Sample--Larry Carlton--Steely Dans Aja album-- many others- Michael Franks-- Return to Forever-- Weather Report-- so many great artists- George Duke-- Patrice Rushen--Herbie and Chick--Miles-- so much time has passed-- but you young students of American music--have a great legacy to explore-- there are so many beautiful musical artifacts to discover- so enjoy the journey--
RIP Chick Corea. Another great has left us. “It is my hope that those who have an inkling to play, write, perform or otherwise, do so. If not for yourself then for the rest of us. It’s not only that the world needs more artists, it’s also just a lot of fun.” Chick Corea 2021.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tips you can offer me
Miss Al's voice. IT was like he had several instruments....and knew how to play each one....splendidly, and most excellently! You and your golden voice may rest in peace, Al. Thank You.
I'm Brazilian, originally from Rio de Janeiro, and listening to Al Jarreau is one of the great musical wonders, this musicality, this typical swing of black American music, I feel extremely in a musical trance (laughs) if this feeling exists.
this is an enigmatic piece of music. al jarreau soars over Chick Coreas timeless flamenco progressive jazz masterpiece. vocal acrobatics that are not just megaton shreds, but also nuanced in its syllable by syllable perfection. RIP Chick Corea and Al Jarreau, the world is so much more beautiful with their music in it.
Live Under The Sky festivals hosted some of the greatest performances from the 80's to the early 90's. That large hall reverb really brings more depth to the mix. Classic 90's man. Nothing beats the primitiveness in the old school music. Real musicians, real music.
Creativity and perfection. The high level of musicianship demonstrated here boggles the mind, especially from Jarreau, Sample, Gadd. In addition, one of my favorite guitarists, Buzzy Feiten, also plays. My only regret is Buzzy did not get a solo.
The world is a lot more crappy without this incredible human being. A fan from a young girl still the best ever. No one can get me out of my rut better than this man . ❤️ I miss you Al.
The late great MR.AL Jarreau can not be/ could never be duplicated a sho nuff one of a kind voice. Al right there, Joe Sample, those piano 🎹 🎹 keys belong to you,and give that drummer more than some. GOOD VIVEBRATIONS!!!
....and Lenney Castro on percs filled the gap....thankyou CK for all your master pieces...and Al .. thank you for putting words to "spain" and as always...amazing delivery.....
2021, Chick Correa, Joe Sample, Al Jarreau it's like some of life's beauty and Joy is gone when some of the finest musicians are gone 💔😢May they RIP! I believe only Steve Gadd is still here.
Al Jarreau was not only a masterful entertainer and singer, but I understand him to have helped my favorite musician, Sir Michael Paulo, gain international attention. Now Paulo is one of the, if not the greatest jazz musician in the world. Jarreau was well educated, very handsome, and mot importantly, a decent and gracious human being. So is Michael Paulo. i wish there were more people like them in the world.
Having already heard this countless times already, Mr. Jarreau's "UH HUH" at the beginning still makes me laugh, he knew they were about to do something incredible up there haha
This my first time seeing Spain live! U have always loved al but seeing this with joe and Steve made me cry they were just Master Beautiful and al at the end. Speechless love it
Dude. Ed Zachary. Watched a vid of Mr Pure Energy and Katrina Verlade (looks much younger) in New York live. Was amazed at both of them, thought let me go to the original, and man am I glad!!! Katrina Verlade fan from South Africa.
La version de Stevie wonder de son concert de Londres est meilleure à mon avis. En revanche le solo de piano de Joe Sample est tout simplement génial. Bonjour de France 🇫🇷
I love this - and always will. The great Al Jarreau, Joe Sample on piano and Steve Gadd on drums, not to mention Philippe Saisse on keyboards. What I’d have given to be at this fabulous gig. Wonderful...brighter days.🌞🙏👍🇬🇧🌞
And if that wasnt enough, how bout Ready Freddie Washington on bass. Of Patrice Rushin, Herbie Hancock, Steely Dan (live) to name just a few. The best thing about the old jazz festivals is all these world class cats would come together and collaborate with each other live. Pretty much ad hoc with nearly no rehearsal time. Definitely missing that element these days.
I couldn’t agree more. I suppose that’s what makes them timeless. Herbie I’ve seen, and now Walter Becker has died, I’ll never see Steely Dan with him in it. "I learned at a very young age that music teaches you about life. When you're in the midst of improvisation, there is no yesterday and no tomorrow-there is just the moment that you are in.”Charlie Haden - Jazz bass player.
Only a gifted singer with an extraordinary voice can sing this kind. And I don't think anyone can except Al Jarreau.Very wonderful music. Wonderful band members, AL Jarreau is a wonderful singer.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL to rediscover my favorite artist, Al Jarreau, doing what he did best, and accompanied by one of my favorite drummers STEVE GADD, he's a monster drummer!! And from my hometown Rochester, NY!
There never was another better and there never will be another Al. RIP Al, you are still so loved, as much for your caring heart as for your great music.
Simply the best of the best.......Al Jarreau and Joe Sample. What a treat to see this video of the best at work doing and giving their all to the craft/gift of music!!! Thanks for the memories and the music that will always live on in our hearts and minds forever and ever a true fan!!!! RIP my friends of music like yours!!!!
