He’s said that by his later years, he’s played this song so many times that he started to get bored with it so he looked for more and more different ways to play it. This rendition is no doubt another product of his boredom ;)

I’ve always loved chicks solo on this. He has so much control and isn’t just going crazy like some other cats would. Its just a beautifully melodic solo. He’s truly one of a kind.

This has to be the best ever version of this piece. Absolutely stunning, arrangement reharmonisations and such superb energy. As a fellow bassist I like how when John does a solo the rest of the band does not just stop playing and leave the bassist out there on his own flopping around. Chic and Dave play but they get out of the way and let the soloist work. I never had that kinda help.
