Listen up children ...this is what music made with instruments sounds like. Forget about the auto tune, you won’t find any. That drummer...no quantizing. It’s the great Gadd!
I think there’s space to like this AND the autotune. I love jazz-and the late Al-but I really love classical music more than anything. And there are plenty of snobs who think THAT’S actually the only real music.
Absolutely beyond the one. Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller, Joe Sample, Steve Gadd, Michael Patches Stewart, etc. Complete syncopation and a real gem of a jam.
I had the privilege to see all these guys live many times!! Awesome time of my live that was, Al was an incredible legend, and Marcus became a star and I still follow him on his journey!!
I feel you on that. Al Jarreau was the soundtrack for all of my young childhood. He was in my Walkman while I walked my high school campus. He was in my Boombox when I was working out in my garage as a teen. He was in my Discman all those nights studying in my College Library. Certain songs of his were Representatives of certain crushes I had on a couple of girls back then. He was truly in a class by himself. And that is a LITERAL statement. During the We Are the World project, USA for Africa, Quincy Jones assembled the who was who and hot of singing artists of that time to be a part of that. I am elated and glad that Al Jarreau was mentioned and thought of amongst those powerhouses of that time. Yes he is still alive to me also in the music will always be a communicative gift from him for always and eternally.
The record had no good critics, but not only because of these masters it is one of three favourites by Al Jarreau. But the record is named "Tenderness" and not "You Don't See Me".
Thank Heavens they Filmed this.. This is as close as you can get to being a fly on the wall in one of the classic Jarreau Studio Session in the 1980's recording with The Monsters... Rest In Peace Al, Joe and Eric.
He is my favourite male vocalist,I have alots of Lp's with his music from the 70's and 80's.My favourites is Roof Garden,Susan's Song,One Note Samba and others... JazzyT.
It is with pleasure that I listen to Al JARREAU again and again. I always remember his last concert in Paris shortly before his death. Despite his illness that day he was there and gave everything. Rest in peace.
Yes music like Al Jarreau was a advantageous tool to take us through our day-to-day lives. I know that it an antidepressant for me accessing any of his Tunes to listen to anytime I wanted
Génial, en tous points de vue.... !!
So Bad ass!!..Super tight and groovy,,how music should be..! Marcus, Steve, PDC, Patches, Eric G , Joe Samp,,Phillipe and Big Al..! The coolest of the cool..Love it!
It’s a gift that arrived decades later! how lucky I was not to hear all. now when the real desert is around... these minutes - fresh, delicious champagne! greatest ever all of them, but Jarreau, Miller, Gadd, Sample...incredible!!!fantastic arrangement! all and everywhere syncopations! what a great composer too!
What a Dream Team of a band! With greats like joe sample, Steve gadd, Eric gale, and the young Marcus, how can we go wrong. This was truly a great way to start my day today.
@@vandasouzanogueira9395 yes younger but not that young. That video with al jarreau is from 94! Marcus started his career in the 70s. You want a young Marcus this is it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e584lUI4Gm8.htmlsi=ta7PRHkc3V1GOrpH
al jarreau was always a perfect singer, could sing anything he wanted & we could listen in awe as he went about his businees,, what an epic singer the only male jazz singer that had a chance of ewqualling him was mark murphy
when I was young this was a hit to me and my friends, we were so gifted with good !!! music in these years. I-m from Germany and I saw him in Bad Godesberg near the former capitol city of germany ( Bonn ). Somebody sold more tickets than places , so we (20 folks, haha ) broke thru the line of security and they accepted it and let everyone in and brought some more chairs... although nobody kept sitting on chairs later on, it was a wonderful time, love this man...
Sorta hard to make out 100% but it looks to me like: Marcus Miller - Bass Joe Sample - Keys Phillippe Saisse - keys Steve Gadd - drums Paulinho da Costa - percussions Al Jarreau - vocals Michael “Patches” Stewart - trumpet Eric Gale - Guitar Sharon Young - vocals Jeff Ramsey (?) - vocals
Got most of his albums on Vinyl..Cassettes & CDs..one if my fav powerhouse vocalist..his voice is the most powerful instrument on stage...Jarreau is still waltzing on the roof garden..his spirit lives on..
Listen to the lyrics of this masterpiece, and really consider the words in what he is saying, "you don't see me when I'm tryin' to do right" "Betcha' can see me now" took my pistel and made myself a sinner"
Lawdy, I sure do miss Al Jarreau. This lineup, good god y'all! Marcus Miller, Steve Gadd, gadd-zooks! Saw Al 3/4 times (can't remember cause I be old lol). He was the most animated singer ever and dang...SO GOOD, he always gave 150%...he da GOAT!!
We can see you, NOW....all it took was lots of talent, passion and focused dedication, as demonstrated by world class musicians. Many thanks for posting this gem!
Simply devine! Watched/listened to the video non stop in 1994 when I moved out to Germany on my own, some tough times - but put this on and everything was good!
