Al Kooper on living half a block from Jimi Hendrix and seeing him all the time on the street, playing on the Rolling Stones "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and adding a french horn to the intro, bumping into Brian Jones at a clothing store, sneaking tapes into Columbia Records, getting the call to play with George Harrison, and recording with him the day after John Lennon was shot.

Great story from Al...I had the pleasure of hearing many of Al's stories over the years...he has many! Great guy and great musician! In the studio, he comes up with his own brand of parts...and they all WORK!! (our producer in the MOSE JONES days)

This guy discovered the great Lynyrd Skynyrd in a bar called Finocino here in Atlanta and produced their best albums. That’s the big story to me!

I was very close to Mike Bloomfield and am sad to this day that he died as he did..Also Paul Butterfield, my son's father, and Richard Manuel. Soo much talent, soo much genius, such a horrific loss. My life totally unravelled. Hope they found peace💔

@@TheWeeklyShowwithDavidJMaloney That was a long hard night after they announced Lennon was dead. I stayed up listening to Lennon songs and cried pretty hard. Still hurts.

I've heard Ringo say many times that he was on vacation on a tropical island (can't remember which) when he heard the news about Lennon and flew to NY to see Yoko, so placing him at Georges house that night doesn't quite add up.

I think his memory is a bit clouded? If you remember Ringo flew to 😮NewYork the day following Lennon’s murder, he had come from Some island in the Caribbean ,Al is reminiscing about the recording of all those years ago which happened months after the murder, actually the next year 1981, nice stories but maybe not the most accurate?
