About Married with Children:
The less-than-lovable Bundys are a radical departure from the saccharine-sweet TV families popular since the days of Father Knows Best. With offbeat humor and unflinching honesty, Married... paints a more realistic picture of middle-class existence, warts and all. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) is a shoe salesman who is fond of frequently reliving his doubtful 15 seconds of fame on the football field. Al is terrified of the all-too-frequent amorous advances of his ditsy wife Peggy (Katey Sagal), who spends most of Al's wages at the salon and the mall. They have two teenage kids: stunning but superficial party animal Kelly (Christina Applegate) and egocentric Bud (David Faustino). I like how Al isn’t even close to being scared of the Devil. He hates his life so much and is so disappointed with it that talking with the Devil is actually exciting. How bad does one’s life have to suck to where you think selling your soul to the Devil is actually an improvement?

You have to remember that God created Al Bundy so that when anyone arrived in heaven and asked God why they made them suffer so much in life, God could just say, "At least you weren't Al Bundy." After that no matter how terrible your life was you would be grateful to God that you weren't Al Bundy.

Oh Al, you should have known better than to make a deal with Freddy Krueger! Does make for one funny episode though. Love how the Devil feels so awkward patting Al on the head after al kneels down to him in gratitude after old Hades tells him he'll never see Peg or the kids again.
