@@brandenlucero acctually when you you consider his previous performances such as Michael Corleone and Tony Montana, he deserves at least 1 or 2 more oscars
Ali Uygar Aydoğdu he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in The Godfather but Brando was nominated for Best Lead Actor which is weird when you consider that Pacino was the main character of The Godfather and Brando was in a supporting role.
“You broke my streak” that hit me hard. This man deserves much more Oscars. To be more specific, he was robbed in 1975 Oscar’s for his role in Godfather Part 2. But I’m happy he has at least one
I've had this speech ready since 1973", that is some tribute...very realistic... but then we have this world which has compromises on every step ! U summarised his brilliance in half a sentence,,,congratulations !
Tbh the only one who puts his whole soul is bale like the lengths dude will go to achieve stuff he wants maybe cruise somewhat comes close no ones on their level
Scent of woman was his Best actuation in Scarface .. if You watched the first movie of 1923 Paul Muny is the Best Tony Montana ... And in the grandfather maybe
His performance in Scent of a Woman has to be literally one of the greatest performances in the history of acting. I just finished watching it for probably the tenth time, and I just can’t get over it. As he said in his speech, the director, screenwriter, and Chris O’Donnel, deserve so much credit too. Unbelievable movie.
That is nothing watch scarface, godfather 2,gleggary glenn gross, serpico, dog day afternoon, and justice for all, irishman ,donnie brasco .these r btr performances of his.
+lee smith He could have won for almost all the work he did previous to Scent of a Woman, with the exception of his very early films (just because the Academy doesn't look much at independent films, but Al gave a great performance in The Panic in Needle Park, for instance), but then came Godfather I and II, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, And Justice for All, Scarface, Sea of Love, Godfather III of course (in which he also acts incredible)... He even got a nomination for Dick Tracy, while I thought that his performance (and the film) weren't very good at all. But glad that he finally won an Oscar. After this, he also should've been nominated for Carlito's Way, Heat, Donnie Brasco, The Insider... Damn, he should have about 15 nominations by now.
Newtype that means he didn’t win oscar for lot of great movies he did and now for this one he won the Oscar. So, the streak has been broken by winning this Oscar
In fact, Nicholson is the original Di caprio, and the fact the Leo is morphing into Jack , its more amazing. Jack and Leo were both 4 times nominated (and losers) before winning their first oscar, Nicholson was 39 and Leo 42. I bet that by 2025, Leo will win a second oscar as a supporting actor, just like Jack.
Watching this again and again and I cannot believe how it is possible he has won only one Oscar??? Most of his performances are just iconic and unforgettable.
I personally think he should have 0. He is one of the greatest actors but he’s never had the best performance of a year. Robert Downey jr or Denzel would have been better choices
Just listen to that applause there. Everyone was happy that Pacino finally got an Oscar after dozens of performances that were absolutely 100% Oscar worthy.
Seems weird looking back at these older ceremonies - took them a minute to give friggin’ Pacino a standing ovation and other legends like Shirley MacLaine don’t even get one, whereas nowadays any actor who wins, the whole audience are on their feet like puppets. Standing ovations don’t mean much now…
You can feel that standing ovation, was an acknowledgment of one of the all-time great actors, and the joy Al Pacino finally won an Oscar. It’s about time academy.
@@mustaquimahmedtanbeer2437 he was at the right place. His performance in Chaplin was amazing. If there was no Pacino among the nominees, Downey would win.
It’s outrageous that we see trolls saying he doesn’t deserve this !!! Are you kidding me ? This performance is legendary a real master doing his stuff like no other…. Even Denzel once said he voted for al …. Al Pacino is the greatest actor ever hands down ❤️❤️❤️
Its not like he didnt deserve it but compare to performances that got him oscar nomination in the past, this one is the weakest one. He shouldve won oscar for TGF, or TGF2, or Dogday Afternoon.
I am very happy that Al Pacino finally got his long deserved Oscar. It was a tough decision that year; every single one of the other 4 candidates would have deserved an Oscar for their performance as well. But it was definitely Pacino's turn at last
True , the reason is quite obvious tho That era was the golden movies time I mean dont you see the nominees here They all are iconic movies with phenomenal performance , time when someone wins, he actually WINS
+alex kanyima that's what i said , and that oscar worth 2-3 oscar nowadays movies , id wanna take new movies there credit but , scent of a women is on a league of it's own cant really name a movie recently produced near the level of perfection as this one my perfect actor's list OF ALL TIME : 1 al pacino 2- Denzel washington 3- Tom hanks 4-Morgan freeman 5- Leonardo di caprio you cant see a bad movie from these legends ..
@johnny67448 true malcom x was an epic movie.... but the (dinner scene) in scent of a women Oscar winning performance... all day long it clinched it... even though malcom x was such strong story and acting...
@@Saintinthecity-wh9nl suffering and dying antiheroes like Don Vito or McMurphy -- that's not the same like the at last winning Don Michael (although being unhuman with empty eyes).
How he walks on stage as he approaches the presenter... those slow tired steps of relief, as if saying... FINALLY... FINALLY. Love to the Godfather. He deserved way many and way earlier. Al fuckin Pacino, you beauty!!
They have the same personality, they have not a defined sense of identity. Is Indeed true that they don't act but they become the character they are playing.
He was 52 at this time looks better than me in my late 30s, the hair, the beard and he physically stayed in shape. I guess God game him great looks and he maintained himself very well.....
Robert Downey Jr was incredibly in Chaplin, but what a line up of performances that was! The Crying Game? Wow! Malcom X? Wow! Needless to say i've watched Unforgiven about a hundred times!
It's amazing how they realized oh we better stand It's Al Pacino and he's finally won it one of the greatest actors of all time who should have had two or three by the end of the 1970's!
Actually Al was nominated 8 times (5 for best leading and 3 for best supporting actor). 1. The Godfather. 2. Serpico. 3. The Godfather Part 2. 4. Dog Day Afternoon. 5. ....And Justice for all. 6. Dick Tracy. 7. Glengarry Glen Ross. 8. Scent of a woman. And should have been nominated more for his many other iconic roles.
Good call, but I'd replace Scarface with And Justice for All or Carlito's Way. Also, I loved Glengary Glenn Ross, but it was more of an ensamble film. Pacino was awesome in it, but so were Jack Lemmon, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Alec Baldwin, etc.
@@waynej2608 I think people admire Brando more because of his personality. That I admire about him. But as an actor, I think pacino is better. His vercatility it's too much.
The fact they nominated Stephen Rea makes me happy. I know he wasn’t going to win, but the fact the Academy acknowledged a performance that wasn’t that ‘showy’ and was more understated and quiet, shows how they appreciated real talent. He’s a fantastic actor, but criminally underutilized.
4:19 That part in al pacino's speech always touches me, as a young lady I respect and I love this great actor That young girl words was incredibly beautiful.
After not winning Oscar for movies like Godfather, Scarface , Dog Day Afternoon. You can clearly see his disappointment at 0:27 , he wasn't expecting this one for sure :(
One of the GREATEST ACTOR OF ALL Time u sooo deserved 2 win so humble so gracious beautiful story i 2 Am from the south bronx may god bless u and your family u truly have a gift❤
I was 16 when this came out and only now, (at 47), saw it for the very first time. Wow oh Wow Mr. Pacino. Next time, I cry, there won't be any tears because your performance in this fine film took all of em' out of me.
Джасур Мирхалилов nope just one. I think the academy has it against him cause for The Godfather, he boycotted the Oscars that year cause he was insulted at being nominated for supporting actor and not lead actor so who knows maybe the academy doesn’t like him or something
