This video is from 2013 and three days ago a video of white girl from this college went viral as she spewed her hatred of black and brown people and used the n word over and over. UofAL kicked her out and so did her sorority, so maybe some things are changing.

It's partly the alumni (they donate money) and the girls that doesn't want to miss the parties at the fraternities. Some frats won't with certain houses if certain people are in.
Why is she expected to join a African-American sorority, because she 's black. No she can join whatever she wants..if she wants to join something that is similar to her beliefs or value then why not. Since they say their international meaning anyone of any race or ethnicity they can join..if it's because she is black..Maybe they need to rethink the word international. There is only one question mark, when you're asking a question. 8 years old you could of just commented without the snarky remark. I am sure this person got into college like everyone else, What did this person say that was wrong? You cannot use a word and put a question mark that is misuse of the symbol. Only people who make comments like this are bad at reading. Although their punctuation is incorrect we are not sitting in a college classroom being graded.
All the young brothers should see this viedo before joining the football team. As long as you are playing fb for them it is alright but you know there are certain areas that you don't cross.
Interesting.... the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter at the University of South Alabama pledged a young black woman back in 2004/5. Sad that UA is so far behind.

My current church pastor was a sorority sister at the University of Texas in Austin during the late 80s. Her house had an informal function where members invited guys who would mingle and be potential date material for the sisters. My pastor naively invited an Indian American male friend to this function. They sat at one table and the entire evening none of her sisters or anybody else would sit at their table or even speak to the brown guy. She felt so bad for her friend and eventually left her sorority.
@@treygray2817 She is as good hearted as they come, wants to think the best in everyone and was probably genuinely naive about her sorority sisters and frat boys. She was an outsider herself too, a feminist and highly sympathetic to POC and female causes. She said the only time a frat boy pursued her was when he planned to get her drunk and sexually assault her, but a friend knew him and warned her and she did not show up to meet him.
Now 5 years later, we have the Harley Barber video in which she is joined by her Alpha Phi sisters as she goes on a racist rant. There is a recurring theme here.

Alabama has several "Black" sororities that would have welcomed her, in addition to other sororities that would have pledged her. The fact is she chose not to rush those sororities. For those who aren't aware, that particular sorority chapter did not accept quite a few rushees of all races, including many "whites".

Wtf why should she have to rush a black sorority? She should be able to rush any sorority she wants. And the fact that sororities are segregated in the first place is f-Ed up. The fact that a black sorority has to exist just shows that this girl is telling the truth, because obviously minorities aren’t able to get into certain sororities.
First of all its not the sorority members that we don't want her in the sorority it's the alumnus that don't want her in the sorority. If you put someone in your sorority that your alumnus don't want in there then the alumnus will take away money from the sorority.

Funny how Alabama is literally ranked 49th out of all 50 states for education. Mississippi being the lowest. Alabama has very uneducated people, And is statistically one of the poorest places in all of America. I wouldn’t understand why (other than college football) anybody would want to go to the university of Alabama or even LIVE in Alabama. Come to New England where both black and whites hold hands. People do not see color up here. We also have the best education in the country along with statistically the most educated people. What's going on with black sister. She knew it was an all white sorority. Why is she going there? We have to stop to want to be accepted by whites, because we are ashame of what we are. And to be among whites make some blacks or mix people happy about themselves. So sad. She deserves it. She should be smarter than that.
Victor williams because people are allowed to join what they want. Just because I’m Hispanic I’m not joining a Lamda sorority or some type of Latino sorority. It’s about preference of what you’re into. I joined a predominantly white sorority not to be “accepted” but because I liked it so much
@@KCM1 yea exactly! I have a friend who is in alpha omicron phi at ga southern and they are several white girls, black girls, and even a few Hispanics in that sorority. Her big sister is even black :) it’s honestly a dream to join a sorority one day and I hope I find a sorority that I will feel very comfortable in and happy in too and so will u too :)

Umm no. Have u ever been to an HBCU? They are well known for their diversity on campus and in their frats/sororities. There are many non blacks that attend these schools and pledge. The problem here is not that a black girl got rejected, its that someone that was more qualified than any other pledge was disqualified strictly because of the color of her skin. If an overly qualified non-black was rejected from a sorority at an HBCU strictly on skin color, yes I would have a problem with that. But heres the key, THAT NEVER HAPPENS AT BLACK UNIVERSITIES! They accept everyone who is qualified to represent their brand appropriately. This is sad what happened, and yes it should definitely be brought to the forefront and addressed.
Why do you think that there are not any other cultures in the national Panhellenic council's sororities. Also it may have been historically black sorority due to the discrimination at the time but also at that time, and presently, the sororities are called National Panhellenic sororities. ,
Change comes from within. If she doesn't try to change the organization they will continue to hurt forever. Meaning in their futures Alumni who end up in positions to give people jobs, opportunities, etc etc will carry that ignorant mentality with them. It spreads like a disease more and more like this unless it's changed at the root.

The university of Alabama is not racist. There are examples of ignorant racist people all over America. So it’s not an Alabama thing to all you Yankees who have never even visited the state of Alabama

Before this even came out! It always puzzled me how this school has even one black athlete on the football team or any of the Universities sports teams for that matter! The Power House of College football currently! The football team should just consist of Caucasians. They Don't mind minorities on the gridiron but in a social setting on campus is a no no! Shame on the Blacks on the sports teams even if they wanted to stay close to home!
