ASU has DEFINITELY come far with their music arrangements and They brought it against JSU. However I am very upset with all the foolery going on with the Stingettes captain Janae! She has been slaying all season and this is how the band director treats her?? So unprofessional and undeserving to put her through all of this. Got Damn JSU y’all some monsters over there!!! If ASU had the numbers as JSU, it would have been a very interesting battle, and I would have DEFINITELY been on the fence with this battle. ASU Sounds great and their music selection and composition WAS ON POINT!!!!! I love the old school and the good new school music. SHOUT OUT TO ASU, for standing strong against that monster LMAO!!!!!! This message is for the people who truly understand music composition, not the fans representing their school. OH AND I DO NOT AND HAVE NOT ATTENDED ANY OF THESE SCHOOLS SO I DON'T HAVE ANY BIAS AGAINST EITHER. Numbers do not matter it’s all about the quality of musicianship. You can have a 300 piece band with bad quality musicianship thats lack luster or you can have a 150 piece band with quality musicianship that can blow big bands out the water.
Micah Briggs we are saying the same thing believe that. Numbers does matter when the bigger Band (JSU) can play exceptionally well, have great compositions, and have a good music selection. Today’s fans only care about how loud the band can play and that mostly consists of NUMBERS. Like I said I enjoyed both bands, they did a great job.
IMO ASU sounds the way they sound is not because of numbers, each section is playing together and their balanced. I wouldn't want ASU to get a whole lot bigger than they are right now because you will start having tempo problems like JSU had back in '14. Don't get me wrong JSU sounds good, but let ASU be ASU.
A lot of y'all on here lying lol! First of all, JSU can't help that they're large, in-charge, and the better band. This goes back decades! Saying that takes absolutely nothing from ASU. They sound great and their arrangements are some of the best I've heard in the SWAC. JSU is extra though - the good kind of extra - and will hold their own against ANYBODY. It wasn't a fair fight.
When bama got ppl they have more volume too lol ...aside from the obvious difference of bodies producing sound the arrangments, tone, execution, entertainment was all on display at a higher level than ASU. Didn’t say they did bad at all...just not close to what I was hearing from Jsu.
Jsu n su are the best. I can never choose whose better because southern will definitely put the technicality on you, while jackson plays stuff that just makes you groove.
Great fifth quarter. JSU definitely had the volume and played those riffs. ASU had more musicality played songs. I wish ASU had played Take You Down legato instead of choppy, sound like they tongued the entire song. Both bands did great and had a different approach.
Can we stop the win and lose it's band c'mon man... ASU put on a good show JSU was just massive right now. I gonna have to take off to go the Boombox classic this year I can see where this is headed!!!!!!
Old head here...ASU took that...lol...good sound, balance and good arrangements....JSU gotta come better than playing loud, out of tune trap songs...gimme the old JSU that had a book...
ASU stayed true to themselves. They had good song selection that was technical and groovy. JSU seemed to be concerned with power and their arrangements were questionable.
@@familybusiness2997 my exact thoughts... With the exception of I Wanna Be Your Man, everything else JSU pretty much sounded similar. Well Danger sucked lol
Watching this is always exciting. I love these two teams. But it also makes me sad. I wish things were different for JSU. they look so good when they're all dancing.
JSU's Sonic BOOM is just too much for ASU. Looks like Bama State and the Stingettes weren't prepared. JACKSON gets the Win. Step up Stingettes, you can do better.
JSU gets the 'W' because of their fullness in sound but, I'm guessing that their numbers may have had a lot to do with that. (Power in numbers) JSU's music selections were better but, their tubas didn't bring the funk. Seems as if they've got a 3-star tuba section. 'Too big for so little sound.
Jtfo let’s not lie, jstate tubas have been the best in the swac for at least 5 years now... that’s really what’s saved them against SU in past years (garbage trumpets outside of this year) but besides that... DONT LIE ON DAWG TEAM🗣
Ehhh I wouldn’t have said 3 starrr... they’ve got pretty good tubas. I’ve never heard such a sound come from tubas like those guys sound. The sound they produce is a different kinda full lol
Couple of things..1. Real funny how when State was big n loud all their fans talked about was power and we loud, but now you small and it's all about something else now. Confusing Lol! 2.IF Oliver dont want his Dancers hunching the damn bleachers like dogs in heat he has every right to stop it. I'm very sure he had previously discussed his expectations with this squad. So he had every right to handle the BS right where it happened at. You act up in public you get disciplined IN PUBLIC. Since the man wants to show a little class now.... so he in the girls business? How the hell is he in their business when the whole band is his damn business. Auxiliary ain't even needed and FAMU proves that every time they perform. Yall got a lot of nerve to be dragging this man name all because there are those of you who lack class and would love to see the lovely young ladies demeaning themselves to no end. Is that what you want?? You can dance without being vulgar and distasteful. Vulgar ain't sexy. GTFOH with that crap. It's his band!! IF you want to run a band program....GET YOU ONE.and you can have your girls hunching bleachers doing all the Classless stuff you like. 3. State has improved from week one good job in my opinion.
