@@enniswhalen2428 They never really gave it a chance, as I saw it, and in the case of Clemson, they were playing from behind, so not a running scenario. I'm not saying it would have changed things against Clemson, other than perhaps making it a closer game. But you have three fresh elite RBs, two of which are now in the NFL, and Najee Harris is projected first team all SEC. I believe the O coordinator had become enamored to the quick strikes with Tua. Clemson badly out schemed Bama, they knew what was coming, and they jumped all over it with the early pick-6, a play that set the tone for the game. Locksley was a terrible OC despite all Tua's success against lesser opponents. Good news is that he has moved on. As a Bama fan I would love to see them emphasize the running game, with Najee as a Heisman candidate. That's the only way they ever beat Clemson, IMO. You won't win a shootout with Trevor Lawrence. @@Chasstful - Hey, I have ALWAYS been an "old school running game" guy, and always like when the Tide can run the football and control the clock.It looks like Clemson now has an offense that you would like to avoid giving the ball.

@@glenndowdy4180 I believe I was right. How did it not age well? Their only chance in the 2019 title game was to run. Locksley sucked as OC and offense that relied heavily on Tua never really worked against elite teams. Hurts had ro save the Georgia game Sarkissian was a far better OC and frankly Mac was better than Tua. All that said, Clemson a generational defense that season. That Bama team had 3 NFL RBs.

Tua was 22 - 2 as a starter. He didn't play much in the second half of most of the games he started. Not sure where you get they were padding his stats. The 2 games Alabama lost were to teams that won national championships.

@@chrislane5145 True but Bama was every bit as talented as either 2018 Clemson or 2019 LSU. Tua had incredible stats no doubt, but Bama underachieved against the elite teams because they got away from the run game and got pass happy and predictable. Tua didn't play well in the pivotal games, Hurts had to come in and save the Georgia game in the 2018 SEC title. Locksley was a bad OC in my opinion. They got plastered in embarrassing fashion in the NC game. Bama had a great chance to beat the historical LSU team but Tua's early mistake made them fall behind. Bama underachieved under Tua's QB reign

@@Chasstful They were predictable. The first play of the Clemson game that was returned for a TD was the same formation and play they had run 1000 times that year. Hurts did save the Georgia game but Tua was injured early in that game. They lost to LSU when LSU had one of the all time great offenses and Alabama had one of their worst defenses in 20 years. Tua's mistake right before the half was costly. Tua was the reason that Alabama only lost to a great offense by 5 points. They did not make a commitment to run the ball when Tua was there and that was a mistake. Clemson had several defensive lineman that could have went to the NFL but decided to come back. They did underachieve when Tua was there but it had more to do with the lack of a commitment to run the ball and a historically bad defense.

@@chrislane5145 I agree with all that. One thing I'd add about Tua was that he was on the fragile side, and that was a flaw. Clemson did have a stud d-line and Bama probably would have lost anyway, but that pick 6 set the tone. As for the historical LSU team, Bama played them way closer than anyone, and could have won without some of those early mistakes. I'm from New Mexico and we had Locksley here as head coach. He went 3 and 26, and had players fighting and getting arrested. He's a horrible coach, and why Bama hired him as OC is beyond me. He won an award as top Assistant coach in the nation, which was an absolute joke. Its the sort of thing where if you want to get rid of someone without ruffling certain feathers you build them up as genius OC, then they get a HC job. That's what Saban did. I think with Sark as OC in 2018 there might have been a very different result.

@@Chasstful All of Tua's injuries took place when he was trying to extend plays. He needs to learn when the play is over. There is nothing wrong with throwing the ball away or punting.
