I remember this night well. Went to local bar around the corner from my house to watch my Crimson Tide. I live in rural Georgia so I was surprised a Wisconsin fan was there. He was buzzed when I got there and there was a bit of fun chirping during the first half but by the end of the game totally drunk. I said Roll Tide as I was leaving and he got all hot and wanted to fight so I cooled him down by throwing my beer on him. 🤣 So dumb and young. A year later I got a bar tending job there and since then we’ve get on pretty good. Good guy to have on your side.
Wisconsin's offense fed right into Alabama's defensive strength: the National Championship caliber front 7 with a nightmare d-line. Six Alabama defensive linemen from this game went to the NFL with most of them still there. Jonathan Allen, Jarran Reed, A'Shawn Robinson, Dashawn Hand, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Daron Payne. Add Ryan Anderson, Reggie Ragland, Shaun Dion Hamilton, and Reuben Foster and you've got an NFL front 7. The Badgers simply didn't have the pass attack to threaten Alabama.
Tyler; have to semi-agree. Buckey was well coached, but primarily in 1st qtr which is usual for a season opener. But as also usual, Bigger SEC teams usually adjust while wearing them down opponents to a grind. But will admit coaches took Buckey players had them playing a notch or two higher, but couldn't get them to follow through as superior... Plus Bama and leading SEC teams are just more consistent and tougher in everything; a southern thing. Be happy Buckey didn't have to face the 2016 Bama defense, which goes down as either the best or at least top 3 defenses in last 80 years in NCAA. Football in south is way different than North.
Wisco got killed on those Big plays, other than that it wasn't a dominant performance by Bama. 3 Star recruits vs 5 Stars. Wisco does the most with the least, their coaching and player development is top notch.
The best 2 things to happen to this Bama team was not starting Coker against Ole Miss which pissed him off & losing to Ole Miss & making the team re-focus keading them to a Nat'l Championship against probably the better team in Clemson thanks to Sabans on-side kick call & Kenyon Drakes KO return for a TD late in the game
