I think everyone Dylan is attracted to kinda looks like him. Jafar has a long face with a big smile like he does. Yet, Dylan also looks like Flynn Ryder with Harry Potter glasses.
Can we all take a second to appreciate how consistent Dylan is with his weekly uploads while being only 20, setting fashion trends, releasing his book all-while attending such a high ranked college too?!? He’s so responsible and dedicated!
Never noticed it before but, after this video, I realized that there is some good character mirroring and themes that make this story really satisfying. Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie all struggle with feeling trapped in one way or another. Aladdin is trapped in his self-concept and social status, Jasmine is trapped physically in the palace and by the governing laws, and Genie is trapped in servitude and physically in the lamp for millenia. The ultimate way they share their feelings of being trapped though is through not being seen as valuable for their character/personhood until they build their bonds between them which is actually quite deep. I really like this theme since it's so universal.
It could even be argued that Jafar feels trapped within his own social position, being ever so slightly shy of the amount of power he desires. He’s a reflection of how desperation, ‘imprisonment’ (metaphorically), and negative self perception can literally drive a person mad; a fun foil to Aladdin in particular, who manages to overcome these obstacles.
can we appreciate how quick Dylan put this video out like he said he'd watch this version in a couple weeks after the live action and really kept his word, 181 weeks was a pretty short time compared to his other videos👍🏽
It's giving that one vine of the dude who gets on stage during rock music at a bar and sings "Ooo wa ah ah ah" into the mic. 😆 🎤 Edit: Found out they're the opening vocals of "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed. 🎸
This video actually made me realize something I hadn’t considered before. The genie’s rules aren’t in place because he doesn’t have enough power to do those things, they are in place because they are unethical wishes or he’s seen them go horribly wrong in the past. I can’t believe I never thought of this. He’s been around for millennia (by his own words) and would definitely have the experience to back up the existence of those rules. Bruh I feel so dumb
Hey, just so you know it’s spelled tier - sorry to be rude and point it out, but I just wanted you to know so you can not make the same mistake again. Have a nice life!
Dylan should make a "Best Of" type video where he highlights all of his favorite moments from his favorite past videos so we can just watch him geek out and laugh hysterically at his own jokes.
The fact Dylan's ONLY criticism about their relationship is that the L bomb is too so since they dont know eachother enough and they dont have to get married immediately is instantly fixed by the TV series just makes Jasmine and Alladin that much more 10/10 because they spend ALOT of time together and getting to know eachother before marriage, theres several episodes that centre around their relationship and love and test and proves that relationship
aladdin was my favorite disney princess movie as a kid and I absolutely watched all the episodes 🤣 which further solidified my love for aladdin and jasmine. they were such a great couple. still love them sm
As a side note, the extended lore of this specific Aladdin, has Aladdin technically being a Prince...Just the Prince of Thieves. Aladdin's father, Cassim, left when he was a baby to try and find a better way to live, a way to lift his family out of poverty. Unfortunately by the time he retuned his wife had been dead for many years ad Aladdin had been an a presumes orphan for as long. When Cassim returned to Agrabah, he couldn't find his wife or son and thus raged and left, eventually becoming the leader of the 40 Thieves, one might even say, the King of Thieves. So I mean if you want to spin it, technically Aladdin IS a prince, just an unknowing one and one that has a band of 40 thieves as his 'people'
I love how much he genuinely enjoys this. Like he appreciates Jasmine for how quick she is and sees the chemistry. Also Travis does in fact need therapy.
The "audible" misdirect was the best thing in this video. I was speechless and had the expression of "no you didn't just do that!!" And it's always nice to hang out with you and your videos. This is the best place to be on RU-vid; the most hilarious, the most fun, the most wholesome. Thanks Dylan for being the way you are. Keep making videos and also take care man!

@@Anna-1924 That's excatly what I thought... but also the time to click and watch all of the timestamps that person also has a lot time. (yes I'm roasting myself)
OMG is it just me or are the "old" disney movies the absolute best? I love them soo much and no movie of today gives me the same enjoyment and attachement.
While Disney did infuse several cultures in Aladdin because it was made at a time when representation of non European cultures was quite stereotypical and many of them were treated as interchangeable, Aladdin is definitely set in Arabia or Persia.
@@Redjanuary17People get misdirected to think it was based in India because the castle looks like the Taj Mahal and the kingdom is called agrabah. But this is simply explained by the fact that the Taj Mahal is a mosque and utilised middle eastern architecture, as the architect was Persian. And agrabah is an anagram of baghdad, but they changed up the name because there was the gulf war at the time and they didn’t want to associate politics with the film.
okay being able to watch him search for a synonym for “unpredictable” then seeing the cursor land on unstable with subtle finality absolutely killed me
I hadn't thought about it before but by making the wish to become a prince, Aladdin wished to marry jasmine without realizing it. She's the closest princess in terms of vicinity, so anything happening in the movie works in such a way to make Aladdin's wish come true.
Here's a little piece of trivia for you, Dylan. The woman who provided the singing voice for Jasmine also provided the singing voice a few years later for Mulan.
I love how confidently Dylan's like "he's got some sexy eyes. How am I NOT supposed to fall for Jafar when he's got such sexy eyes?" Also can I note that poor Dylan desperately needs a kid? He's so obsessed with them, and it's the most pure thing ever❤
I never noticed that the Sultan changes the law so that the Princess can marry whoever she wishes. He left the part of the law that says princesses have to be married by a certain birthday.
16:13 Jasmine: says she knows the sultan Everyone: is that a ✨crazy✨ person? Jasmine: says she's princess Jasmine and takes off her hood Everyone, doing Pikachu faces: Jasmine the Platypus Princess?!?!?
I love that Dylan has nothing bad to say about Aladdin and Jasmine because until Tangled came out, this was all time favorite Disney movie and Jasmine was my favorite princess. I wore her hairstyle to school every day and everything because I wanted to be like her so much haha.
the scene where aladdin frees the gene is on my list of most cry worthy scenes! I love how selfless it is and then the sweetness of robin williams voice, "you'll always be a prince to me" stop it I'm crying as i'm writing this. I miss him so much 💔
@@fadiabenahmed7319 yep, if I remember correctly it was inspired by Gretchen in "Mean Girls" "trying to make 'fetch' happen" Dylan wanted to create a term himself and decided on "sanitary" for cool I guess
@7:45 ; that's how we know Aladdin is a good guy, he's not stealing to acquire wealth, he's doing it to eat. he wouldn't be stealing if he could afford food so he's not thinking about stealing anything else. living in poverty is often criminalized and almost almost 50% of the US prison population grew up in poverty.
@@alyssap7620 I mean, you ain't normal if you don't find at least something about the villain sexy. Looking at you, Maleficent, Hades, the Evil Queen, Gaston, Scar... Or from DreamWorks... Ramses, Tai Lung, the new Puss In Boots movie... I mean c'mon! 😂
I love how Dylan is picking up on the amazing chemistry, wittiness and flirtatious interactions between them as well as the plotholes and wishes. I've always been a major supporter of wishing for powers. It made me MAD as a child. The meat pack joke is solid and the audible ad idk what happened to it halfway through 😂😭it disappeared
Definitely one of my favorite Disney movies, placed along with Tangled. Aladdin and Jasmine are my favorite Disney couple as a kid, even with Aladdin's flaw of the consistent lying, he never means to be malicious as he doesn't understand his worth, yet Jasmine knew he was a worthy person. In the end he was the chosen one because he sacrificed his and Jasmine's happiness for Genie's freedom, that screams a diamond character inside.
i feel the direct opposite. i see the carpets relationship with aladdin as something beautiful. aladdin gives the carpet a deep sense of purpose in life, a reason to push forward. i believe it is a mutually beneficial bond as 1. aladdin does not fall to his death on multiple occasions, and 2. the carpet has a friend to protect, one that relies on him, one that needs him. thank you.
Rest in peace, Robin Williams and Gilbert Gottfried. Thank you for making all of our childhoods better with your amazing vocal talents as Genie and Iago respectively!
I have never seen a RU-vidr love one of their old jokes so much in a video that they proceeded to spent several minutes trying to find it and when they couldn’t they looked at the comments to see if a fan quoted it then went to the comments under that comment to find the time stamp. And then proceed to laugh at their own joke for a another several minutes before actually starting the review. That was such an odd yet amazing experience. Thank you Dylan. You always know how to make your videos entertaining and fresh.
dylan’s reaction to this is 10000% me, not only is aladdin my favorite disney movie…he’s my favorite prince, jasmine is my favorite princess, AND they’re my favorite disney couple!! everything about aladdin and jasmine screams power couple
I'm pretty sure Aladdin and Jasmine dont even get married til like the third Aladdin movie, so they did date for a while (especially in Disney terms they were practically the only Disney couple that really got to know one another)
