I hate that no one brings up the fact that the entire climax at the end of HSM 1 was for the CALLBACK of the musical and we didn’t even see the musical
@@thesickone6675 their entire plan was so that Troy and Gabriella could make it to the call back of the musical. We don’t even know what the actual musical was
@Vince Mcmahon i was super young was around 4 the first time i remember watching hsm (i was like less than a yr old when the first one came out) and i thought chad and ryan were dating and this was b4 i even knew abt the concept of sexualities
2 things i never noticed about these movies until watching this video: 1. Troy and Gabriella dont kiss for the LONGEST DAMN TIME 2. The hand holding omfg
I don't think they allow kissing in Disney channel movies or shows or if they do it's very limited in number because the fake-out or almosts are a still recurring thing in both of those things.
It is not that noticeable until it is pointed out. I mean Ryan in the film is not gay. They just did the "gay" thing as a joke. It wasn't meant to be noticed on the first shot.
@Kathryn Collins it didn't say anything... But the whole song about baseball people theorize as an inuendo for a gay relationship, or more noteablely a gay trying to 'convert' a questioning/straight person. I don't know if it was actually stated by the creators of the movie if that is what they were going for in the scene or not. But people think it's a legit thing at least.
i was dead a*s juss thinking that and had to pause tha video juss to see if i was tha only one that noticed that and if i wasnt how many people actually commented about it lmfaooo. when i heard him say that im like oh no no no hunny thats some bad math you got going on there lmao. bt definitely was rolling about that. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Okay but can we appreciate how three of the six main characters were poc? And all of them were done justice? I think for that time when they were made, that’s pretty amazing :)
Dylan: *notices a camera man in the shot when he shouldn't be there* Also Dylan: *misses that two dudes literally trade entire outfits after a song and*
@@lidiaf9598 cameraman: 11:45 Swapping occurs after the scene 20:40, but Dylan doesn't comment on it at all so it doesn't appear in the video. I'd suggest searching for it or looking at Frames of Nick's video as he basically does an entire video solely revolving around the two guys who sing the song lmao
Apparently there's reasoning behind it, I did see a video about it but I can't remember exactly why. I think they said it was something to do with Chad and Ryan's implied relationship.
"What the heck are those two doing in a tree?" Is frequently cited in our family because it really is the funniest most quotable line from that movie (btw I'm 21, my brother's 25, and my other one is 16, this movie is timeless)
If you think I wasn’t literally singing “summer time!” Every single instance someone asked what time it was for a YEAR after I saw hsm2, you would be a damn fool
@@uchster9 What's the big deal with Miley? Sure, she's an attractive woman. But Vanessa Hudgens is much more attractive. In a movie, you want actors to contribute to the story being told.
I was actually looking forward to his comment on that specific song because it's so well done and it's kinda nostalgic because they're playing how their prom would've been like, and that was the one song that he skipped lmfao
“This is so cheesy but i love it” True. Don’t we all. I’ve only ever met one person who didn’t like it and well…he turned out to abuse my aunt domestically so-
literally always thinking about that tweet that says "troy was having a mental breakdown and singing scream because some admin staff forgot to tell the poor boy about double majors" LMAOO
34:07 the franchise is mostly about how troy finds his passion for music and his entire journey with his love for it of how it evolves. From him being open with it then denying it then doing it because he thinks he's doing it for gabriella and then you can see on that opening of 'you are the music in me' how he's being pulled into music again but it's not explored in the hsm 2 but when it comes to hsm 3 that's where it's tied it altogether. i saw a fan comment on how *"mrs. darbus already believed in troy before troy even believed in himself"* (notice on the their stage rehearsal for 'i just wanna be with you' how mrs. darbus reacts and observes troy and troy just bursts with passion then mrs. darbus filing the college application for troy)
@@alice-mc8ki kinda true, also each movie has the sharpay and Ryan song, Troy and crew song, Troy’s individual song, Gabriella solo song, then the duet and then the final group song
i won't lie BUT I started to cry when gabriella said goodbye to troy and she goes away to Stanford. I cried like a baby, I never thought that she could go really away without say goodbye at everyone. WHEN TROY WAS IN THE TREE WAITING FOR HER AND THEY STARTED TO DANCING AND SINGING, AND THE END EVERYONE SAYING WHERE THEY WILL STUDY AND THE BACKGROUND EVERY SINGING WERE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER MADE MY HEART BLOW UP AND CRY
This made me remember the episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody where they want to perform High School Musical and that "Maddie looking like Sharpay? Nah, I just don't see it" joke
Miley’s there because they let viewers vote on which Disney starlet they wanted to have a cameo in the film 😭 I can’t remember who the other two contenders were. I definitely remember being disappointed that it was literally a short cameo, I thought she’d at least get lines
one of the things that brings me genuine joy is that bart johnson, who plays troy's dad, still comments on many of zac's instagram posts like *the* most supportive dad. it's adorable.
We do not deserve Coach Bolton tbh, he's still out there being thankful for the movies and appreciating fans (unlike some people....). I'd love to see another HSM movie if Coach is in it (or imagine a 17 again type of movie with coach hahhahaa).
Caroline H ; I love how Zac Efron does all these iconic ass roles and everyone will not let him forget about HSM while Coach Bolton fully embraces that he helped raise a generation, love that for us
When I was babysitting my baby cousin she made me watch the movies I was just laying on the couch on my phone and that scene comes up and I laughed so hard I fell of the couch
Guys, the fact that Dylan talked about the creepy handshake guy and acts like it’s insane that he would just handshake and say nothing like how dare he. Two seconds later talks about if the mechanic teacher talks he’d need to be paid more. Does this man not get how there can be more than one nonspeaking actor in a film😂👏
27:37 when my brother was in 5th grade, his class performed this song for the annual show and he played troy... i distinctly remember them trying to fit 5th grade cheerleaders and basketball players on our tiny stage and this girl shrieking "TROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY" dramatically
How rich him and sharpey are is a big part of the 2nd movie's plot, getting a scholarship is generally emotional in these kind of movies because they give them to the poor kids who need it, this didn't make any sense lmao, but I'm reading into it way too much
For real. Country clubs are overpriced day care centers where rich people gather. I've done business with people who have invited me to the local country club for further discussion. I've told them they have a damn office with freaking catering. But I eventually give in to the country club proposal, cause while there, I can meet more clientele.
Yara 133 it shouldn't be that big of a deal but there are still companies like Disney that still not ok with it, especially when high school musical was created
HSM3 is my favorite. I know the first was a classic but that budget. I want it all blew me away when I seen it in the theatre. Closest thing to seeing a Broadway show.
HSM 1 is iconic. HSM2 comes close and I barely remember the plot of HSM3. But 2&3 have some amazing songs. Almost all the songs in the 2nd one were incredible. The only song I can remember and LOVED in the 3rd one is The Boys are Back by Troy and Chad. Such great energy and very catchy.
@@DerekThomasLirio But it are painfully catchy... and Ashley Tisdale is incredibly cute *gay crush in progress, coff* It's the kind of song you hear when you just want to be in a good mood and/or dance as if you knew how to do it.
1- best story, most classic, the OG 2- best music, absolute bangers, gayest moments, 3- biggest production value, best visuals, the logical ending to the trilogy.
fun fact a lot of Troy's singing wasn't actually Zac. 😂 "Though he starred as Troy Bolton in the franchise, Zac Efron's voice can barely be heard in any of the first movie's songs. It turns out he recorded them but didn't make the final cut, and most of his parts were sung instead by actor Drew Seeley, with Zac lip-syncing on-screen."
I’m so glad that you hardly rip on these movies at all and appreciate it for what it was. Just warms my heart ❤❤ What’s crazy is the first one succeeded out of nowhere. Like Disney channel hardly even advertised for it I don’t think they had any idea how much people would love it
Dylan: "How extra do you have to be to get an umbrella in the summer?" Me (who uses umbrellas because I will fry without it because I live in an actual desert): "Well it depends on how extra the sun decides to be that day."
I honestly often come back to this video because I absolutely adore your reaction to the breakup song followed by the dramatic number of Zac Efron on the golf course in HSM 2 & then, the "Oh My God, they had a huge budget for this" barely 30sec in HSM 3, puts a smile on my face every time
