Rise up my love is a setting of a few verses from the Song of Solomon (or Song of Songs) in the Old Testament of the Bible. The words paint a beautiful picture of love and of the natural world, and this setting is clothed in rich and colourful harmony. It was commissioned by Avril Danczak for the Philharmonic Choir of Manchester, in memory of her parents and dedicated to three younger family members - 'the start of the next generation'. This performance is sung by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, and is taken from a track on the CD 'Wondrous Cross' (Regent Records and CDs). The music is published by Oxford University Press.
