The only reason I know who this man is is because of QI, and he has a comedy style that rivals a lot of people. I can only imagine how much more intellectual humour he has added since being on QI.
First time ive ever seen this, didnt know it existed, i discovered he did a new tour last year called Life Is Pain i didnt know about that! He is funny.
stand-up is really difficult and it takes a lot of time for a comedian to hone his skills. clearly this is one of his early gigs so it shouldn't be surprise that it's not that funny and smooth. alan davies got much much better over the years and i find him really pleasant to watch (QI, Jonathan Creek--although the latest season is dreadful). and yes, he has made cameos in several other tv series as well, such as in Insp. Lewis and Agatha Christie's Marple. he's actually a pretty decent actor!
I think this is the first youtube-comments-section-argument I've seen where the spelling and grammar is almost all correct. I have gained a little hope in humanity.
@Stannogs why did you stop the argument between yourself and m4lvolio, if you kept going i could you some of it in TOK. and it was interesting. start it up again.
@m4lvolio Really? I've watched it three times now and I still laugh til I cry. But then, I have a cat, so I'm already sympathetic to one of the best bits! Room to differ and all that :0)
13 pounds? I am glad this has been uploaded so the people who are able to appreciate it can enjoy. But I'm going back to QI. I just don't find Davies able to carry a show on his own. And m4lvolio: lighten the hell up. Jeez!
@Stannogs I don't disagree with you...but... If you choose to publcize your opinions and thoughts...you have to expect someone else to exercise their right to do the same. Free speech works that way. We all need a tough skin, not guarded tongues. Guess I do disagree.
@Stannogs And you can't accept the fact that some people FIND Alan funny. You are a stuck up little shit who, apparently, has nothing better to do than click on videos who's content he knows full well he will hate. Please go troll on your own corner of the interwebs. I will delete further comments from you.
as funny as a fire in an orphanage - I wonder if he went to the elite oxford or Cambridge?, im surprised he isn't wearing square glasses to represent hes a funny person, ive met funnier toilet cleaners, but they didn't have a priviled background so never got the fast road to tv, that's why there are so many middle class, intellectual, naturally unfunny comedians - university - study drama - tv.
Dear me - what a chip you've got on your shoulder. It's not Alan's fault that you left school without any decent qualifications - you should have worked harder.
He did get his university degree, though _not,_ of course, at Cambridge or Oxford. It was Kent, I believe--or perhaps Norwich, or Nottingham? I heard him mention it once, but it didn't stick.
stephen druce It amuses me that you made a comment about his education, although your grammar indicates that you barely received any yourself. Leave him alone mate, people have different senses of humour. Nothing wrong with that
I agree this is shockingly unfunny. I was expecting more since he does make me laugh on panel shows. I don't think it has anything to do with class or education. There's painfully unfunny working class comedians as well.
