I always loved Alan King. This kind of humor is insightful, and makes its points with a smile. And so much is still true, as other reviewers have noted.
This is incredible! LOL! There are sociologists who dedicate their entire lives trying to understand the Middle East so it is a complicated place of unrest. It reminds me of that moment in Clueless, “I thought they declared peace in the Middle East.” Nope, never. So comedy is the only way most of us could process even a little bit of it. Well done! This is amazing.
OMG...I'm 55 and I remember watching this TV special live. Alan King made more than one of these specials on ABC. I wish I could see them in their entirety.
What a brilliant routine. I believe this is what's call talent. A history lesson along with A little humor then some song and dance. Yes sir file this under creativity. Thank you Mr King.
OMG, grew up on LI, NY watching him all the time. What a memory. Thank you. Gentiles in New York love the Jewish comedians back then and probably now, although I haven't lived there in a very long time many people from New York and Long Island have a certain Jewish flavor to the way they talk and act
I know two ladies both formerly married to Muslim men, the way they were treated was terrible on occasion. One I work with said her husband used to stub his cigarettes out on her arm. She had an tough army upbringing, I don't why she put up with this for so long. I've met her current husband, thank goodness she's met the person she deserves.
@@ronniewoodinsteadofmt2615 After reading it again I somewhat concur. It amazes me how comments can be misconstrued when conversations are posted/written as opposed to verbally communicated...
It's a rare spectacle these days using humour/comedy as a healing medicine to handle sensitive issues, especially related to religious driven circumstances! And one can wonder why Mr. Alan King in his swinging number resonant like Robbin Williams singing "Friend Like Me" from Aladdin (Disney 1992)! A fan and an admirer from Pakistan.
@@lordgarion514 WTF are you talking about? Are you indicating that there hasn't been any fighting in Europe or America or Asia or Africa in the past 2000 years and that there has only been fighting in the ME? Go read a book.
@@andrew_owens7680 Did he SAY (write) there were no other wars?? Yeah, didn't think so, Seenyore Snarky. Fergitt 'read you a book'...take ye a chill pill!
Note his PERFECT pronunciations of all the place and people names despite that being a time when most folks would not be able to check on his accuracy. What a good man What a service to society at the time It is odd that most of the named characters remained in power for many, many decades after I miss this kind of comedian I also miss Norm MacDonald Triple-jabbed Gilbert Gottfried, who died of a “heart condition,” is also missed as well
Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, where are your Jews? Over a million Jews fled or were expelled. Remember that when opposing Israel.
Very funny, though dated still a hoot! He was one of my moms favorite comedians. I liked him as Max in " Just tell me what you want", read the book, too. Some I know and some critics didn't like it, I loved it. I think it was underrated, not a flawless movie(what movie is)it had great sound track, nice locations and Alan King reigned King Supreme as Max.
"(Yasser Arafat), not to be confused with Ringo Starr... Arafat has promised not to shave until the Saints won the Super Bowl"- Feb. 7 2010, 31-17 over the Colts; Yasser died in 2004, a little over five years previously. Guess he didn't shave then.
Some things never change, except the progress in Israel since then puts all the Arab States to shame and that is what bothers them. If they can't do anything positive, they are willing to destroy any state that does!!!
At That time it was in our daily paper that the Muslims were to go to every Country and procreate and then in years to come they would take over the world but no one took any notice
@@andrew_owens7680 I'm surprised that you speak for all us Jews, considering that its highly unlikely you're jewish. I find it hard to believe that American Jews forget about tzedakah.
At 6:34, it was time to leave... flashbacks of High School....Aren't all these guys 'wormdirt'? (including Mr. King)...and soon, yes, ANOTHER "Mr. King".... sorry, Larry....
+Laura Petruska Here we go again with the implication that the 2000-election was somehow stolen by Bush. On November 12, 2001, the New York Times ran a front page article that began: "A comprehensive review of the uncounted Florida ballots from last year's presidential election reveals that George W. Bush would have won even if the United States Supreme Court had allowed the statewide manual recount of the votes that the Florida Supreme Court had ordered to go forward." Another Times article that day by Richard L. Berke said that the "comprehensive review of the uncounted Florida ballots solidifies George W. Bush's legal claim on the White House because it concludes that he would have won under the ground rules prescribed by the Democrats." On November 18, 2001, notorious pro-abortion zealot Linda Greenhouse wrote in the Times that the media consortium's count of all the disputed Florida ballots - in which the Times participated - concluded "that George W. Bush would have won the 2000 presidential election even had the court not cut the final recount short."
+Jim Paget --Gore did win in Florida, he should have counted the Dem Votes where he did win--but NO he wanted recounts where he lost. Takes both the Democrats and Repuplicans to screw up the world.
+Laura Petruska You poor thing. Still accusing Bush of being crooked. No, my dear NUT, he is and was not crooked, he was elected, he did everything he could to protect this nation, he was honest, he had no scandals like Obama's V.A., Fast and Furious, Benghazi, he never lied to this coutnry the way obama has lied and lied and lied, and he had the respect of the world , unlike Obama, like most Americans, hated by Americans and laughed at by the rest of the world. WAKE UP
A lot has changed since then and the danger has gotten worse. At least Alan King didn't throw his hat into the ring to be President - like that clown, Trump.
+TeachESL I find that the people calling Trump a clown are the ones who fear him the most and also voted for the clown we now have in office, who has managed to do more damage to this country than our enemies did in 3wars....but you keep voting Democrat.
+blueonblue why do you assume that I'm a 'Liberal?' You don't think that there are plenty of Republicans that think he's a clown? 'Brash and arrogance' are not the qualities I want in a President. Clear-minded and focused - yes - but not 'brash and arrogant'
+Peter Riesenberg The last time I voted Democrat was maybe 40 years ago. And I certainly didn't vote for Obama! I'm still hoping that Marco Rubio will start coming up in the polls; but if it's Cruz who will be the nominee, I will vote for him. For sure I don't want to see Hillary in the White House! And I'm concerned that if Trump gets the nomination, she will win the election.
+TeachESL Ok, I see your point. I'll withdraw my negative comments. Thanks for the clarification. I will say that this country needs a strong leader for sure and brash and arrogant may be in line, possibly. I'm not a Rubio fan because he is young and too smooth in his peaking, like we have now. Cruz is a possible....
Boring nonsense chit chat. Celebs draw attention and makes no difference what they say, dumb audiences clap & laugh. His vrambling chatter style is now the norm whereby not a word is understandable anymore from anyone.
