Great video. I had a SEL license as a young man (many decades ago) and have ridden in float planes in Alaska and Arkansas. Float planes put a silly grin on my face even yet and I am not piloting. I have offered my grandkids a gift of flying lessons but they show no interest. I skipped meals to pay for my own lessons. Worth it!
My son and I love float planes. We got to fly with Kenmore Air in Seattle in 2018 to do a seaplane check out in a Cub on floats. Such a great aircraft for learning! Alaska is on our bucket list for sure. Great video! Fly safe and fly often!
Found your channel through comment you left on Aviation 101's Mooney Cockpit tour. Former owner of 79 Tiger 2332T, which I understand wound up in CA. If you ever see it at an AYA/ Grumman meet/event, pass along my best to whomever has it now. Great., great airplane. Looking forward to watching some of your Tiger features and hope you love it half as much as I did.
Thx for the feedback Jason. I wish I could do a series about Alaska. Honestly I just didn't have enough footage. I shot this before I was making YT videos.
Awesome video. One of the CFIs I flew with hundreds of hours ago back when I first bought my Cardinal used to go up to Alaska every summer and float plane instruct, the come back to NH for the winter. It always struck me as an awesome plan to go up there for a week and get a single engine sea rating for fun one year in lieu of a flight review.
Wolficorn nice! Did you have an RG or FG? The Cardinal is a nice airplane. I believe there’s a Tiger neighbor in my T hangar building but I haven’t had a chance to introduce myself yet. Both seem like types where you struggle a bit to find an experienced mechanic, I enjoyed your video about visiting yours. I have posted some videos of my Cardinal, a 1977 RG.
Bryan, before I saw your video, I booked a week for instruction (and checkride) out in Moose pass and was curious about your thoughts on the checkride process itself? Anything noteworthy compared to PPL/IFR checkrides?
@@jadeng1147 Moose Pass is such a great place to get your seaplane rating. So many lakes in close proximity, all with different characteristics. Not to mention that it’s drop dead beautiful there. Have fun!
