@@murderman7265That's a bit of a stretch. Alastor may own Husker the same way Val owns Angel, but Husker provoked Alastor's hostile response. If he were to turn away after Alastor dismissed his concerns, nothing else would've happened between the two.

@@jknetwork6211 Yeah, not only would it be fitting for the show, but even if Alastor dislikes Lilith and possibly Eve, since I doubt he likes being on her leash any better, he doesn't have any issue with Charlie. While he does fiind her dream to be "wacky nonsense", he has admitted to finding her to be "a charming demon belle". Besides, None of his actions so far been to hurt Charlie and the commercial situation coming more for his hatred of television over wanting to see it done badly. I think a good it would be interesting if Charlie did become Alastor new patron, but with an offer of friendship rather than ownership.

But then with Val, the specific acts he does hit closer to home / are generally shied away from by most media (particularly at this depth; see moral Orel be cancelled for treating it seriously), but especially cartoons. So there’s a lot more shock / anger. Val is kind of an outlier in how his actions affect the audience (more of us have probably been SA’d or known someone who has than enslaved or murdered). Otherwise we’d probably despise all of the overlords just for being evil. But yeah. Husk is my favorite character and that scene did get me angry for him, lol. That said, all the mystery surrounding Alastor keeps me ver engaged with everything he does- lots of charisma in that one

He's not tied to Charlie; he's made it clear he's (supposedly) here to watch demons fail at redemption and can leave anytime he wants to, Charlie even granted him that condition (I know I know, pilot dubious canon yada yada.). If Husk was referring to Charlie, Alastor could just retort he's not bound to Charlie whatsoever. Even if Husk was referring to Charlie, he unknowingly hit a nerve that I think goes deeper than helping Charlie with the hotel.

@@gregvs.theworld451 The idea is that Husker was speaking in metaphors about how Alastor was bending over backwards for Charlie, especially in Alastor's attempt to one-up Lucifer in the song they just sang (i.e: he's effectively calling Alastor "whipped"). But Alastor misunderstood him and thought Husker was implying Alastor had made a deal, and accordingly overreacted. I get the feeling this is what happened cuz Husker didn't press it any further the moment he saw how much Alastor was pissed, implying that he didn't know Alastor would take it that personally (Husker isn't exactly shy about insulting Alastor normally).

Like others have said it probably isn't canon anymore, especially since a lot of Viv's ideas might have had to be changed due to her working with Amazon to produce it. Although I think it would be interesting if Lilith wasn't the owner of Alastor's soul but Eve. When Eve first gets to hell, (Adam was the first in heaven so Eve was probably the first in hell) she probably starts gaining power through trading souls, she could've been the first (secret) overlord in the shadows just waiting to pounce when the time was right. And with her being the first one there, besides Lilith and Lucifer who are already powerful in their own right, she probably traded souls and worked her way up the ranks in secret. I bet she found Alastor and saw his potential as a serial killer and decided to use him, trading his soul for immeasurable amounts of power and obviously he agreed to it. Something happens and they disappear for years then one day Eve sees on the news that the daughter of Lucifer and Lillith is trying to open a hotel to redeem sinners and she sends Alastor to the hotel to be her spy and to sabotage them. I also bet that Lilith WAS trying to do an uprising against heaven, and Eve, trying to win back heavens favour, rats her out, but heaven still rejects her and not only this but they start killing sinners and grant Lucifer, Lilith and Charlie immunity but not her. She somehow gets Lilith's soul and the rest is history.

People also tend to forget that Alastor is a mama's boy and so there's also likely something there because he most definitely does NOT care for men at all.

This is my favorite theory thus far! It's both hilarious and insanely clever.

It's either this or Nifty just sold her soul to Alastor because he was a super powerful bad boy and she's into that shit.

I have found it odd that nifty shows absolutely no resentment towards Alastor But Alastor also doesn’t show any resentment towards her either

I have a couple things to add to it 1. We've seen multiple scenes where Alastor and Nifty were by themselves as if they're accustomed to it or something. We never see Nifty by herself, we always see Alastor by himself, but should he choose to be alone with anyone, he usually ends up with people he can manipulate or Nifty. 2. You could add that nifty being a tradwife is in the same manner that would've been catered to Adam. She exhibits a lot of tradwife traits. 3. Whenever nifty lets loose she fucking lets LOOSE, as if she's never had a taste of freedom???? As if someone was keeping her on a really tight leash??? So it'd add to the "Switching positions" thing between Eve and her soul. 4. Alastor being on a leash is most definitely a sore spot, but there's a large chance he has his own keeper on this pedestal. For a couple reasons like that, he doesn't want to be in a position where he also has to defend her, or he acts cordial, maybe even particularly polite with them BECAUSE he doesn't want to raise any suspicion that he's trying to get free or how desperate he is for freedom. 5. I saw something quite a while back about a theory on Nifty's life and death and what I think about is how they said she may have cheated or at least not been a loyal wife. Relating it to how Alastor grabbed her from a pit of fire that, in the Bible, is where cheaters and disloyal spouses go to repent. Eve was one of the first disloyal wives if you think about it. 6. Kinda loose, but also, Alastor is kinda careful around nifty. Like he's careful about what to say and how to say it. In the pilot, before nifty, he was a lot more carefree, but in the show, he is definitely more cautious in the hotel. I do support the big thing of Alastor choosing Charlie, not necessarily because he believes in redemption, but because he wants to use Charlie (likely her power) to free himself. Notice whenever talk of power or deals comes up he is always alone with the person, or as seen in the pilot, Nifty wasn't there. We could also use this point for Lilith being that he's using Charlie or Charlie's power as a bargaining chip. Or, maybe, if you use his conversation with Mimzi, that he believes in redemption and maybe, might see it as a way out or at least a way to get power. A final little note I have that isn't necessarily a point because it feels too full of holes. Nifty has special privileges with Alastor. This one is loose because this could also just be because it's nifty, but the big thing is that she ALWAYS invades his personal space. One of his BIGGEST no no's. He definitely looks down on everyone in the hotel, but seemingly holds no ill-will towards Nifty, alongside that, Nifty doesn't have to obey the 5-ft rule like everyone one else. Also, with the amount of stress that got put on Eve, it's not that far out for her to have a couple screws loose. Or, the dynamic plan would be that she's acting in that way to blend in, but that's too loose of a theory again.

That's how I imagined him initially, but under Lucifer's bidding. Not just for the sake of getting rid of a glut of Overlords, but actually to create some space for a new generation (Alastor arrived in hell just a year before the Night of the Long Knives). In exchange, Lucifer taught him how to unlock his own powers early. In my theory, the reason Alastor is always smiling is because his powers are tied to the feeling of power he got from mutilating his victims. So he's always at full power because he's always smiling, and vice versa.

Honestly there is zero evidence to think that Eve is like that herself. Because if you read the scene, it was an act of rebellion. She may have lacked free will and eating the apple gifted it to her. i think the 'evil' that took root isn't that she ate the apple. its that she maaaay have murdered Adam in a rage once she was able to comprehend all the abuses she suffered. That would explain why adam is the first soul in heaven. Cause the First murderer and Victim were not their children, but the wife and the husband respectively.

Unless it’s a long con, maybe Charlie is powerful, and Eve needs her for something… like opening a way to heaven to take it down/corrupt it too. Maybe Eve needs Al to be in place and trusted. Maybe he needs Charlie’s powers to break himself away from his leash and thus needs Charlie’s trust. There are many reasons that he could be protecting the hotel. I find his line to Mimsy that “he can’t have that here” in regards to the trouble she brought, a potential tell. It have have been an innocent choice of words, or it may have been deliberate, but can’t instead of won’t, could imply that this is one of the instructions given to him, rather than his choice (though this could be an instruction from Lilith, it doesn’t seem to match the free spirit idea of her.

I think making Eve the root of all evil would give some pretty nasty implications, though. The reason Abrahamic religion looks down on women is because of Eve eating the apple, which fuels the bs belief that women are responsible for all evil and sin. I'm fine with Eve being a wildcard against heaven and he'll, but making her the source of all evil would unintentionally validate religion's sexist doctrines, and I'm not really here for it.

Maybe Eve is aligned with Roo somehow, but taking offering/taking the apple is portrayed in a mostly positive way for Lucifer and Lillith, they gave humanity Free Will, and were clearly only punished for disobeying Heaven. So why would Eve taking the apple introduce evil into the world when Lucifer and Lillith are portrayed as almost heroic for doing the same? I'd wager Roo is whoever set up the whole thing: the Hazbin version of God. After all, they're the only one who could have known that Lucifer and Lillith's actions would condemn much of humanity to hell and introduce Suffering to the world. God has been weirdly absent from the story so far (you could even interpret the intro cinematic as implying God doesn't exist, since it's the Angels who created humanity, but if God does exist in Hazbin, they're definitely Roo).

2) Eve, instead of trying to kidnap lilith, deals with alastor to give him powers in order to kill Lilith. Lilith nearly dies from Alastor and believes that sinners, the people she so lovingly ruled, become corrupted and are trying to overthrow and endanger her family. This would make her lose faith in hell and go to heaven, making a deal with Adam to protect her family from demon uprisings by conducting exterminations, which will make the sinners go against Heaven instead. In return, Lilith has to stay in paradise so Heaven can watch her and make sure she does not try to start a rebellion herself. When Lilith finds out about Adam’s death, she is upset that her daughter would side with the same people that tried to kill her and her family. This would mean alastor is there to sabotage Charlie, not protecting her, probably meaning that at the end of season two, the season where Lilith is the villain and is convinced by her daughter that sinners should be redeemed, alastor will do something and the show will leave us at a cliffhanger with eve’s appearance for season 3. It would also make sense if Lilith left Lucifer without telling him anything of her plans to keep him and Charlie safe from the sinners and let Heaven do their mess with exterminations

That doesn't really make sense for Adam though, who's whole MO s that he can't keep a secret. His superior literally tells him the rest of Heaven can't know the exterminations are happening, and he almost immediately breaks that rule just to be more of a hurtful dickhead to Charlie. if he knows why sinners don't go to Heaven, you think he wouldn't almost immediately reveal the truth just to throw it in Charlie's face?

The theory I find the funniest about Husker knowing about Alastors leash is that he didn't. He made a comment about Alastors relationship to Charlie and the hotel and ended up slamming straight into the still healing sore spot. If he was commenting something that intense you'd think he'd be more prepared for the backlash based on how cautious he is around Alastor, but he wasn't, as if he wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. He knows Alastor is scary, but funny to think that he was just taking shit and ended almost getting the shit beat out of him.

I think the reason Husk knows that Alastor is on a leash is how Alastor was able to win the contract for Husk's soul. If Husk lost his soul that game when he lost, then it makes sense if Husk had won, he'd have Alastor's soul BUT if say Alastor already had a contract with someone more powerful, then wouldn't that mean that card game was rigged against Husk from the start? It would explain how Husk knows about Alastor being on a leash.

Honestly I think that your point is valid yet it’s still possible for Lilith to be Al’s patron. For example, let’s say that, for the sake of debate, Al has had Lilith’s patronage since the beginning of his debut. And let’s say that in the last confrontation between Al and Vox 7 years ago(or close to it), Lilith suddenly disappeared and this Al no longer has access to the power she lends him. And that’s why Al loses. This scenario kinda explains Vox’s behavior so far: why is Vox so scared of Al now when not only Vox has beaten Al before, but now he arguably has a more solidified power base? Because Vox knows that Al wasn’t at 100% in their final confrontation, and he took advantage of that.

Yeah I get it I'm more of the interpretation of lucifer being the spoiled brat in Heaven that tried yo overthrow god. Plus I'll be honest never been a fan of the rulers of Heaven and Hell when they are written in certain religious texts

I wonder if he’s truly that much on the sidelines though? People seem legitimately scared and in awe of him and in hell I doubt falling millennia ago would keep that kind of respect up for long. He’s played as the ditzy father in his intro but we do see glimpses of him having done things through his song, he literally talks about charging a goat sacrifice for his services. There’s already speculation that the story Charlie opens with is more myth than truth so it wouldn’t surprise me if he wasn’t as “innocent” and foolhardy as he’s portrayed to be, at least not for the entire time he’s been in hell. He’s the father of lies, who’s to say he couldn’t put on more than one persona? We often see that characters aren’t really who they are portrayed to be. I also have to wonder if maybe he fell into a depression at first and Lilith reigned but there’s a huge gap of time between that and Charlie’s birth where we have no idea what he did. Also maybe his current depression is more to do with the fact he’s now brought a child into this mess he feels he’s created and he feels powerless to change? Your comment just got me thinking, I’m not trying to argue against how his story is being portrayed on screen as of currently, but just pulling form a few details and things we’ve seen with other characters so far. I was a little surprised that he was introduced as the cringe dad, I was assuming he was being kept off screen in the first few episodes for something a little grander😅😅

On a shorter note, I notice how a lot of demons refer to Charlie in terms of her fathers power, she’s the devils princess, her fathers daughter, etc. The “respect” shown to her seems to come from her father, not herself or Lilith and we know they don’t respect just anybody. Definitely makes it seem that there is more to him than we’ve been shown so far, I don’t think the origin myth is as portrayed in the opening.

I mean, to be fair, that is an interpretation that may make some sense within Biblical lore (And I know Viv and her team seem to be very picky choosy with what Biblical lore is canon or what matters, which is fine, her world and all.). Many Christians will tell you Hell is hellish for the devil, Satan, Lucifer, whatever you call him too. He's in a lake of fire as well, he's not exactly crushing the skulls of the damned with sadistic glee while sitting on a throne sipping martinis. If we assume Hell is punishment for Lucifer, which in Hazbin is stated to be the vibe, I could buy a depressed Lucifer becoming disenchanted with only seeing the worst of the people he gave free will too, and never seeing the good humanity has done with that.

This comment singehandedly actually revived my faith in this show.

I've seen another theory pop up which makes even less sense which is that Alastor is God/Jesus. I don't really understand the connection but I guess he wears a cross on his chest so that's one point for that theory. Maybe Jesus would want to proselytize with a radio? Idk. I love this theory because there is no glue holding it together and it makes zero sense so I hope it's real.
