Fun fact: When Halsey was recording Sorry, she really wanted to essence the raw and somber sound so she recorded it in a one mic, one take way (she never re-recorded Sorry multiple times to get it after she recorded it for the album, it was right from the start for her from the 1st recording)

About 100 letters she says during one concert I attend that it was based on a real story of hers. On of her ex boyfriend used to write her little note and after their broke up she’s still manage to find these notes on the pocket of her jeans Also a lot of her song are very personal and intimate. At her show she’s talking a lot about the meaning behind her song. I very appreciate her as an artist cause she’s honest and have the courage to write her story

Benny Blanco produced a couple songs on the album like eyes closed, Lido who did a lot of the songs on Badlands produced a couple too (and this album is about him)

I remember listening to this whole album with dylan from dylan will not participate back when it came out and it became one of my favorites of all time, I love everything about it specially alone, bad at love and heaven in hiding
I remember when I first heard this, "Bad at Love" was my favorite, but then I heard "Heaven in Hiding" again, and I was just like, "Oh, I have been a FOOL!" Edit - are you interested in reacting to musicals at all? I just powered through "Hadestown", and that old school blues vibe is something you might really like. And as I've done before, I'll always recommend a Kimbra reaction if you haven't done one already.
I remember when this album first came out that I was not a big fan of it. I listened to it again a few months down the line and I fell in love. Idk why i didnt like it at first and idk what happened in those months for my opinion to change. But either way, I love this album and I am so glad you checked it out!
Sorry reminds me of a person in my life who took their life in 2017. It feels like an apology from someone who took their life. The lyrics “Sorry I could be so blind, I didn’t mean to leave you and all of the things that we had behind” is haunting yet comforting. Thank you for reacting to this album Steven. It’s amazing.
The story makes more sense if you think two characters are talking imo, like "I date a lot of people (alone)"/"make up your mind or I'm leaving (now or never)/"I'm sorry I'm a mess(I'm sorry)" you know what I mean? And of course "100 letters" is actually the end of the story, the same way Romeo and Juliet starts by saying they both died (she starts saying they broke up)
you need to watch the music videos for now or never/bad at love/sorry, it’s the story of romeo and juliet, she recreate 2 family (angelus and aureum) and halsey is Luna Aureum (the red family) and she fell in love with an Angelus guy (the guy with long hair in the music video), in the music video for strangers you can also see Lauren Jauregui play the character of Rosa Angelus, and she fight again Halsey (aka Luna Aureum) ! THATS SUCH A CONCEPT
The concept is based off of Baz Luhrmann's film version of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The Prologue is based off of the prologue from Romeo and Juliet but the part when she sings, "I am a child of a money, hungry, prideful country, grass is greener, it's always sunny, hands so bloody, tastes like honey" was all written by Halsey. More about the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Concept from an interview with IHeartRadio: On April 4, 2017 Halsey talked about the meaning of the album in an interview with iHeart Radio: "For me, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom is a story about two people who want to be in love so badly they’re willing to change themselves for their love and in doing so they let the real versions of themselves die, so it’s a Romeo and Juliet story. [...] I was in a relationship with someone for a really long time, and I broke up with them, and then I sat down to write this album and realized I didn't know anything about myself. When I'm alone and I'm not in a relationship, who am I? Who am I without the gaze of another person? When I'm getting dressed in the morning, and they're not sitting at the foot of my bed, what clothes do I pick out? ... Who am I when they're not watching me? When they're not judging me? And that's a lot of what this record is about."

I have always felt like the concept of this album centers around the story of Romeo and Juliet (with the introductions being the same), and instead of it being the traditional story it is the story of Halsey's own star-crossed loves.
It's inspired by Romeo and Juliet (she's Romeo)! and there are a lot of references to historical concepts and figures. One of my favorites is in 100 Letters when she mentions King Midus (: All her albums connect together and she just references to SO MUCH to her old work and outside influences!
When I first listen to the album Angel on Fire was my favorite because it remind me a lot of me. I would go through these episodes for months where if somebody asked me to go and party and I was always down for it. Like she said she was this angel on fire and a center piece and I was always the one that would be at this parties and everybody just always asked. But then I would get these depression episodes where I didn’t want to leave my house or even speak to anyone.

Yes, Now Or Never was the first singles of the album, and it's funny 'casue i remember when the song came out everybody was saying that it was so weak for being the first of the album. And Steven you have to see the story of the music videos of this album, is great.
