How does this video disprove "the myth," that alcohol "causes" violence?! I strongly disagree with the framing of the issue at hand, and the conclusion at the beginning. It's not that alcohol "causes," violence, but it is a precursor! Yes, most people that drink/use drugs are not violent people, just like most people with mental illness are not violent or unlovable people. Yes, there are sober men that do acts of violence against women. Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out! It is actually rather condescending they had to mention most drunk men aren't violent! No one will argue against that, not even a teetotaler like myself. Do you really think the majority of men who do violent acts against women and people of color are teetotalers? I bet the crime statistics, if there are any on this issue, would say otherwise! However, let's not ignore the FACT that violence is [almost] always precipitated by drunk men! Antidotally, the only times I've been assaulted in my life have been from men that were drunk! I had to call the cops on a drunk man for threatening to beat his girlfriend! Sobriety should not be discouraged or looked down upon! For Heavens sake, I'm sick of feeling like most people in this country think I'm stupid for not drinking alcohol! I've even been hit in the head with a bottle of whiskey for saying that I don't drink, I've been laughed at in college for saying that I don't drink alcohol, and just when I hit a milestone, people falsely accuse me of being drunk! There is an irrational hatred towards people that abstain from drugs and alcohol in Western Society, because their presence alone makes alcoholics insecure.
