come on, guys... they looked very inexperienced when it comes to injuries as serious as those james sustained. it was a bad look for a lot of them when they were trying to be funny in front of the camera while james was just lying on the floor for a while; wincing whenever he moved the area around his shoulder. here's hoping they all realize their mistakes and act quicker in case of other injuries in the future.
@@stone-vq7vo i hate your username but I didn't mean it that they didn't help. And you do have a point since James mentioned he never broke anything before
@@drizzypuffs523 yeah, it's no different to when someone gets hurt in any contact sport; if they get up sooner or later and dust themselves off they're fine; if they stay down and they keep staying down they're gonna need medical attention... it's a shame that aleks has chosen to go the route of trying to justify their behavior though since james might require surgery.
@@stone-vq7vo Brett also made a really good point, in the actual cow chop video, that there is a lot of hind sight. Especially after the fact. The situation is more different since they are RU-vidrs. You can't really tell if its for the camera or for real. And James wasn't sure what was going on.
of the people standing around James when he fell, Aleks seemed the most genuinely worried instead of joking it off. Seemed like he knew earlier than the others it was more serious.
it kinda makes sense since aleks has been around him a lot longer than anyone else on the crew so he knows when something with him is off more than likely
Yeah but also he missed james first reaction of "did it look good" and kind of laughing because he was shocked, Aleks came over as he was realising he was actually hurt so i think thats part of why he reacted like he did
I saw this on James' stream and he mentioned that the first thing he said after that fall was "Did it look good?" So really can anyone blame the crew for not realising that the situation was more serious than it looked?
I agree with Aleks on the comments about people saying “they didn’t do anything” or that “they shouldn’t of been joking about it.” Yeah, he got hurt but some people would rather have others be joking about it and taking their mind off it than to bombard them with “what hurts” “are you okay” “should we go to the hospital” it can just create a very stressful atmosphere on an already stressful situation. Plus I wouldn’t want people moving me right away if I got hurt. James didn’t even really feel what happened to his foot and that ended up being a worse injury than his shoulder! He needed to figure out what was happening and he could have been in more pain if they made him get up right away. Not every situation like this needs to be rush, rush, rush! People just need to chill.
Not only this, when I watched James' stream he had asked if it was caught on camera or something along those lines. If James didn't have a problem then, neither should others for him. Yeah, it was a pretty serious injury but at the end of the day, James is okay and the people who were standing around him weren't sure if it was just a bit or not. Which had said again on stream that they need a safe word just in case something like this happens again.
@Glorelles Not that bad. And they weren't sure if he actually needed a hospital. I've dislocated my shoulder and thought it was broken and told my parents I needed to go to one but instead they took me to a clinic instead... because even if "I" think I need a hospital, doesn't mean I "need" to go to one. Sometimes when people are in pain, they feel it is greater than it actually is. What they did wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
@Glorelles Dude you're responding to dislocated his shoulder. James dislocated his shoulder. Pretty obvious connection here dude, calm down and read through before you go full rage mode. James did not feel his ankle at all, the shoulder was hurting not the neck, there was no way for anyone there to know what to do and they wouldn't have wanted to call an ambulance as James does not have life insurance and an ambulance would be a MASSIVE COST. In your case your parents likely had some form of insurance or you live in a country where its not thousands of dollars just to take an ambulance. Now to be fair I don't know you, I don't know your life, but I can fully understand what the cow chop guys did because nobody stays completely calm in a panic situation, and all they wanted to do was make sure if he was fine or not and try to keep his mind off the pain.
When people complain about the others not instantly reacting and joking around initially my mind immediately jumps to the pepper spray videos. You have Trevor screaming for James’ help while James laughs at him, Aleks shedding tears while James mocks him. I understand that these aren’t exactly anywhere near as serious as a broken ankle and dislocated shoulder, but it’s in the same vein in my opinion. That’s what friends do, you make a mistake and get hurt, they laugh at it until they realise it’s actually worse than they thought, at which point they give you the help you need
i said this on the reddit and i'll say it here, in regards to their reaction time. friends stand around and laugh at you when you hurt yourself. strangers/non-friends panic. it's just what friends do. james wasn't going to DIE, so laughing was...kind of the right thing to do. he wasn't bleeding or unconscious, so it was fair for them to laugh and make it a joke and assume he was only hurt and not INJURED. they got him up and in a car and to the hospital and stayed with him once they realized, but...yeah. friends laugh. non-friends panic. OH ALSO...thanks for the upload! i generally don't like twitch and almost never catch live streams from anyone, so it was nice to be able to see this clip on youtube.
People also don't seem to remember that laughing is a natural human reaction to diffuse panic. When you have an operation like Cow Chop that does crazy shit all the time and does it for comedy, it becomes even harder to know what's a bit and what isn't. Continuing to laugh about it once they established he probably needed to go to the hospital, like the joke about the pillow case, is totally normal and expected.
coned Friends also make sure you’re okay before laughing at you. If you ask someone “Are you okay”after they just busted their ass, and they respond with “I don’t know” - or something to that effect - then that’s code for you to drop the jokes for a fucking second and make sure they’re okay. Certainly don’t stand, laugh, and say “You’re fine” repeatedly. I don’t have a problem with what happened as a whole, meaning it’s amazing Brett was so dedicated to getting him help, but they need to stop defending how they initially acted like it was completely justifiable. Those first minutes where everyone is just standing there in silence as James writhes in pain is hard to watch. I still think Cow Chop is great, I just wish they had acted a bit more grown up in that moment. They did later, but the way they acted initially just makes them look bad is all.
@@Swamprat44 i mean when the person who falls instantly says "did it look good" that doesnt exactly go "hey guys im seriously hurt." Its completely justifiable. Edit: they also use to pepper spray and hurt themselves on purpose, and then laugh at the person screaming for help. Acting like cow chop has ever been mature about anything or taken pain seriously is rediculous.
@@Swamprat44 stop trying to be a hero and telling everyone how they should act in a situation like this. They're there own group of friends who know each other better than anyone commenting on their videos, if they all think it was fine, especially James, then you really need to step back and let a bunch of grown adults do their own shit instead of bitching about it in the comments
On James' stream he said that the first thing he said after the second fall was "did it look good" lmao. I don't blame them for not immediately rushing him to a hospital with him acting like that
I was worried they would tone down the dumb stunts after this, and then like 2 videos later Brett did the same stupid bit that got James hurt. Love these guys.
I broke my ankle in 3 places, sprained it, and dislocated it, all in one. We were making jokes and laughing about it before I left my house to the hospital. i was still in pain and complaining, but jokes were definitely peppered in.
I did the same shit. But after i broke it i went into shock i tried to get up and walk on it. And tore all my legiments. 3 days before my son was born.... Bad times
About two years ago I was riding on the back of my friends car from a skateboard like from back to the future and I fell off. I got very bad brush burns. Like my knees were looking really bad and so were my hands, yet my friends kept making jokes and laughing at me the whole time instead of helping me at first. They eventually did help me clean up but it is a good point that friends dont act as concerned. Some of you never had friends like that and it shows. Having your friends joke around make it hurt a lot less.
bro one of my best friends cracked his head open trying to grab a basketball hoop, it wasn't really fun when it happened but once we knew he was okay we all laughed our asses off. he fell just the the ridiculousness logo lol there's no way you can't laugh once you know he gonna be fine.
Rave haha nah. normally when i post clips i make them unlisted just to embed them on my tumblr but i only posted this one publically cus it’s been such a big issue. i didn’t even edit this so i think anthony is better sksksks
Aleks is definitely telling the truth about friends making jokes when there friends are injured, back in my younger days one of my friends who also Skated went out in tune street without looking and got hit by a car, which luckily for him they were going pretty slow through the neighborhoods think they were looking for an address, so they were only going a few miles per hour, anyway before we knew if he was okay or not we were making jokes and telling him he's a dumb ass and all of that before helping him, and another time I was at a petting Zoo and my younger brother who was about 8 at the time got his foot stepped on by a Cow and we made fun of him the whole way to the urgent care and still give him shit for it. Point is like Aleks says in my experience everyone makes fun of friends and family when they get injured before you know how bad it is, and sometimes after you know its bad, think of it as making light of the situation.
I broke both my ankles fuck8ng around in gym, when it happened my friends laughed at me while helping me out. Karma though to one of those friends, cause that same summer he broke his ankle and I laughed my ass off until I noticed he was actually hurt.
idk why the comments went wild. when an injury occures, yes there's pain but you can't be sure if it's that serious. that's why james played it off cool "did it look good?". besides, it's not like he had an open wound and was in critical condition, it's fine to make a light of the situation. they're friends, of course they'd help James when they realize the situation. the pansies in the comments obviously never broke a bone in their body. i sprained and broke my feet multiple times and a day usually went by until i finally decided "hey, that foot isn't getting better I should go to the hospital" and my friends nor my family didn't immediatelly jump and start screaming for an ambulance.
The crew wasnt wrong for not being so panicked about james. If they were to freak out, it woulda been more of a stressful situation. People getting mad need to chill lol
The amount of people genuinely pissed off about the "situation" irk me. At the end of the day James got the help he needed, and had Brett stay with him for a good amount of time during James' visit at the ER. James is a big boy, and doesn't need anyone fighting his own "battles" for him. He ESPECIALLY doesn't need someone threatening to "beat up" Brett at RTX like some crazy obsessive bitch did on Twitter.
9:00 That's the most fucked up part of all this. It would be so much $$$ for an ambulance ride than just a car ride/Uber. American healthcare at work oof
James fell of a skateboard, it was funny, end of story. How uneventful does your life have to be to be annoyed about this, its beyond pathetic what people will sulk about. Its a shame Aleks even addressed it, should have just ignored it. The small percentage of people who winge about these things are a lost cause and arent worth engaging.
Well its honestly like this. If people see someone they admire they are gonna freak out if they hurt themselves. But tbh its not like they said oh well and left him there lol
my brother got hit by a car and we laughed the whole way to the hospital. if you know that person is gonna be alright it’s better to lighten the mood then let everyone wallow. still don’t know why they got so much hate for this
I knew what was wrong shortly after he landed on his shoulder (granted the blurred ankle tipped me off on that part). But that's because I have a little knowledge in spotting that stuff. Regardless they did nothing wrong. I've seen people with worse injuries walk it off and be chill about it. They still went to the ER but they weren't freaking out. I'd also point out that the pain scale (1 to 10) and injuries are different for everyone. I've passed an odd shaped kidney stone. Almost half an inch long and almost a quarter of an inch thick. Dropped me to my knees when it left my kidney. But I barely noticed when it finally left via my urethra (i'd have thought it would hurt as much there too). My point is it looked like he was aware and capable of tracking what's going on around him through whatever pain he was feeling. Cracking jokes too. That's a good sign. I do think maybe some first aid training could be useful. Other than that nobody did anything wrong.
Shit, I cut myself pretty bad with a knife and as soon as I saw I was missing a chunk of my finger I ran to the kitchen sink and was bleeding in it until a friend found me.. first thing I did was make a joke. Then I got shit from them and from there we figured out it was either turn in the stove top and burn it or do the more professional and mature way and go to the hospital. Called my mom making jokes about it too.. injuries happen and instead of laying in pain laughing or causing others to laugh to ease the tension is viral.
wow um these views?? so i keep most of my videos unlisted because i like to just embed them to my tumblr posts. when i posted this clip, i just decided to leave it public because i know there were so many questions about james and everything. djfdsjdf i didnt expect so many people would watch this?? i cant even say thanks cus i barely did any work haha. i made some of my other clips public if any of u guys want to check em out!
What you guys should've done was have james first off cam be taught how to bail cause there are ways to minimize injuries instead of instinctively grabbing a chain; not that think the accident would've been avoided, but that was pretty great...
