I say there is nothing wrong or selfish about taking care of yourself always. Completely understandable.

Choosing to not pursue something that is antithetical to your personality or happiness is nothing to be ashamed about. I consider it an achievement that you know yourself well enough to make that decision.

TL;DR: James doesn't like being in a high-profile high-stress role in a large RU-vidr group long-term anymore due to being naturally introverted, he dislikes doing 'Jackass-lyte' Cow Chop stunts that is the channel's brand (especially after breaking his leg), he wants more time to play games and do charity work, he dislikes working and driving to Los Angeles, Joe and Trevor leaving really affected him, his family worries about him being so far away, he wants to spend more time with his family and possibly get a family of his own, the RU-vid Adpocalypse deeply affected James and Cow Chop from the start, and he's had these feelings weighing on him for a long time. Don't worry James, your complaints and reasons for leaving are perfectly valid. You haven't 'failed' anything. I'll miss seeing you on Cow Chop and will miss Cow Chop when it ends because of this, but if it's going to make you happier then it'll make your content all that much better; and that's ultimately for the best.

I subscribed to you many years ago, and completely fell in love with the style of your videos. You have always been my favourite youtuber, and watching you grow through all of these years has been an extraordinary journey. You are not letting anybody down by being true to yourself, and that's a fact! You have been a vital part of my life for many, many years, by bringing joy and laughter. You kind of feel like a childhood friend to me, and i sincerely wish you the best. The things you want to do with your life, your goals, are more important than Cow Chop. Tend to yourself, and your life! We don't blame you! But please keep us updated, 'cause i still want to follow you on your journey. Godspeed, James.

2012. I was studying for a college exam. I decided to take a break by watching videos on RU-vid. Your Saints Row 3 Nonsensical Gameplay was highlighted. I began to watch it because I was learning English as well. I followed you for a couple of years, two years ago I stopped watching your videos. Now seeing you saying these words made me remember all the good times your videos gave me. It's OK, James. You've been working so hard for so long you deserve to get some rest.

You were my first subscription back in 2008-2009. Deadrising 2 with Sp00n was and still is my favorite PT of all time. and I haven’t stopped supporting you since. Nor will I stop now. Forcing anything especially when there is other opportunities has to be extremely draining. If there is promises or hopes for change of that dosen't come it has to be absolutely exhausting. You are doing the right thing even if it feels like a defeat. I might be speaking from the mindset of absolutely massive fucking introvert. But only some planned stuff or ridiculous toilet ideas peaks my outward interested at this point. Doing anything poorly planned or somewhat out of my comfort zone is draining but very appreciated once it's done. But I wouldn't want to do anything like that over and over.

I started watching you since just before your happy wheels days and I was in middle school then, now I’m 21 and I still watch your videos I don’t really get the time to catch your streams that often but I’ve always been on RU-vid seeing you somewhere on my feed since I was a kid. I am late to the cow chop experience, but even so, it was nice to binge watch a lot of highlights. Totally get where your coming from, at least with the move to a big city and being in the public eye. I myself am from a small rural town and I definitely enjoy my anonymity. I watched you from middle school (or maybe earlier) to senior year of high school, and even longer than that. You’ve been the one content creator that has been constantly there throughout me growing up with the internet, thank you for everything.

I really fucking feel the anxiety and upset you're going through here man, its so palpable. As a teenager I didn't super understand but as an adult now it just breaks my heart seeing how painful this was for you to do. So much respect to you. I had to do a similar very scary cut off of a part of my life because my mental health was just abysmal. Can't even imagine it on the scale you did. Lots of love and respect for you man.
