I was born in the old Alert Bay hospital and my dad worked in the hospital as well. We lived in that old shabby white building next door to the burial grounds.
Loved watching this video, I am from there, I hope you guys enjoyed your visit! Check out my drone video of Alert Bay on my channel to see the rest of the Island that you missed such as Gator Gardens.
Just checked out your Alert Bay in 4K! What beautiful footage. You sure captured it well. We'd love to revisit again someday. Just loved Alert Bay and also Malcolm Island.
I've been working in Alert Bay and my wife and I shared this video (along with Nice Shot's 4k videos) with my toddler to show him where I go when I leave home. He loves watching all your videos about Vancouver Island. He calls this video "totem pole!" and it is one of the few things that can hold his attention for a full 12 minutes. He's learned the phrase "good morning guys" from you and likes to shout "foot!" when you say that you can explore the island on foot. He also makes sure to point out Kovu the cat. He kept shouting "Por qué no!" near the start of the video (he is bilingual) and it took us awhile to figure out why. It turns out he heard you saying "Port McNeill" and he figured that that must be what you're saying.
Thanks Greg! Great to hear from you. Recently added a G9 with 35-100 2.8 to go along with the GH5 and have the 8-18 2.8 as well. I've retired the 12-60 for our current trip to Argentina but missing the versatility of it. There is a weird middle ground gap with the two lenses we have now; however, it is so nice having a proper zoom though. Are you thinking of getting any additional lenses soon?
Hey Richard, thanks for the honest feedback. To be honest we'll be going back full-swing into more food vlogs after we're done with this series. Actually our last two episodes of this series are food heavy but we do have a few more that aren't.
Thank you for your movies. I learn English and watch your movies to practice and improve my listening level. I’m from Russia, Northern Russia and our nature and weather conditions are similar on Canadian nature. Thank you. From Russia with love.))
Are you going to post this trip to your spanish channel? I'm an intermediate spanish student and watching your vlogs in both languages really helps. I was born and raised in Comox and live in Victoria so I've been everywhere you've gone so far. In 2015 I went whale watching on a small sailboat out of Alert Bay, it's too bad you didn't get to that!
That is so cool to hear Chad! Best wishes with your Spanish studies. We'll be putting this series out in Spanish as well but quite a bit later. It is going to break up two big Argentina series we're finishing so likely sometime early next year. Ah, going out on a boat from Alert Bay would have been awesome.

When my sister graduated in 2007, my grandparents were here for a visit, and we ended up taking a day trip to Alert Bay to do some exploring. As a young lady, grandma had worked as a nurse at the hospital as part of her training, which definitely made this a special trip for her
My dad worked in the hospital too. And I was born in the hospital. We lived in that 100 year old white house that is right next door to the Namgis original burial ground. Ask your grandma if she remembers Karl who was the lab technician at the hospital.
Thanks Danielle! So cool you grew up in Alert Bay. Have you been back recently? I was raised in Gold River. Just loved getting to a chance to visit for the first time.
