"There’s another guy in London, Alex Hutchings. He’s trying an interesting thing, too. He’s altered the last three strings of his guitar, switching it to straight fourths, so he’s really pioneering in that, and he’s an incredible guitar player. It really is encouraging to see young players who are just terrific." - Frank Gambale
Alex does so many things so well! At times, his phrasing reminds me of the great jazz horn players of old. That's pretty freaky on a guitar. And Jack...his talent is out of this world. This is an amazing video with these two phenomenal players.
These guys are not only great friends but true musicians that have so much respect for one another. Great video guys. I truly enjoyed just watching it. ❤💢💯
I’ve been coming back to this video since 2013 and I still fall in love with that bouncy blues lick at 1:52. I wish there were more videos using it. So catchy.
Alex Hutchings is the F---ing man. The other guy tore it up as well. Who would give this a thumbs down? I would love to see anyone who left a negative comment or a thumbs down take a seat next to these two and jam. I'm sure their performance would be feeble at best. Great job guys.
I have commented on Alex's 'havin a difficult poo' faces on another video but he's well worthy of them on this! Utterly phenomenal, mind blowing playing. There's only one room in the house where I can make faces like that.
What great ability to listen to each other and play without stepping on each others toes, Iv'e been listening to these two play for a few years now and am always impressed by they're talents.. Great Work as always !!! and with no need for any backing track..
I haven’t kept up with Jack for quite some time and I absolutely love his playing. You two compliment each other so well. Hard to believe this is from 9 years ago! Sounds fresh and smooth as always. I love both you guys. Keep the faith and keep sharing your wonderful music.
Alex you are crazy man omg, jack and his musicianship is crazy, and alex, I am with no words to describe how much I love your playing, also your masterclass is incredible thank u
This is just so sweet! I wish I could do that. I picked up a guitar 37 years ago, and learned to play Eruption. It took quite a while, several years in fact. I thought I was really something. No, I am nothing. This is something.
Hutchings is my favorite guitar player, probably in the world. That being said, I think they both had moments of brilliance in this jam session. Jack is a master guitarist, clearly, as is Hutchings
I'm not a jazz fan. Never have been. But I know talent when I hear it, and I love this! So many elements and influences. I'm hearing early Steve Vai, circa "Flexable", Allan Holdsworth, the "Tripster Fripster", Frank Zappa, Steve Morse Dixie Dregs style, pre-Purple, and the most important of elements and influences, these two "fully sick" masters of their instruments. Thank you so much for giving me something new and fresh to lay my ears on! I want more! How about getting together in the studio and recording something professionally?
