I had the honor of watching him play Rachmaninov piano concerto no 2 in March 2023. He was so good that it’s beyond words. He plays with every fiber of his being and I had to hold my tears back throughout the performance. Bravo, Alexander! I hope to be blessed to see him again.

@@evewong3221 Yes, indeed. One of the things I like most about him is his willingness to take risks with the music. He doesn't, for example, always play the exact beat, but then makes that up later (a sort of rubato, I suppose). I also like -- forgive me -- that he occasionally makes mistakes, for then we know for sure that he's completely human. :~)

@@thomasthompson6378 Pianists are not robots. They certainly will make mistakes. People always love to point out what wrong notes the pianist had made. But music is not about mistakes,it’s about INFORMATION and EXPERIENCES you’ve been through and carried along for many years,as Malofeev himself said in the interview. What I most care is if the music can console my soul that’s what Alexander’s music to me. I can immerse in it,it’s like a soul trip,I just follow his music to discover a beautiful world. Maybe it’s hard to explain if you don’t feel the same. But indeed it’s an unique experience that only Alexander can give me. His soul is unique and I find it in his music.

I am completely blown away by Sasha's performance of the Medtner Fairy Tale, Op. 20, No.2. I have not heard it before so I went on a youtube search to hear it in its entirety and have listened to 4 or 5 other pianists playing it, the best being by Hamelin (no live performance, only audio with the sheets given). I must say Hamelin's is good, but Alexander's is very much similar, maybe even better! This piece reminds so much of Rach music! In fact, I read in a comment on another performance that Rach thought very highly of Medtner's music. I hope that Alexander will perform this piece in the near future. What an AMAZING masterpiece, imho. Oh, btw, thank you for this wonderful upload, Eve!!! You bless us fans SO much with your videos of our favorite pianist!

Please don't discount the dedication and hard work and the many, many hours of practice that have made Alexander the pianist that he is. He has perfected his playing over 10 years, and to reach his level at this young age as a tremendous accomplishment. To just credit "his gift" does a disservice to him and pianists everywhere who sacrifice and devote themselves completely to their music. Relying on one's "gift" will not result in this level of performance. It takes drive, determination and abandonment of everything else to achieve it.

Here is a priceless video of 13 yr old Yevgeny Kissin playing Chopins Concerto #1. When I look into the boys eyes, I see Chopin himself in a healthy new body. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uYbOfcmMVZU.html

What great similarity to Alexander when he plays. It is a great comparison video and I see what you mean. Both totally immersed in the music. Thank you. I too am a musician who trained as an organist and gave recitals abroad as well as in U.K. I’m in ore of Alexander as he is a wonderfully kind genuine person too.

Alondra you are so lucky to be so close to this man! He is a special guy, no doubt about it. There is no limit to what he will accomplish! Alexander, if you happen to read this, I am sorry I have not contacted you on Facebook. I don't have access to it right now. I'm waiting patiently for you to post the Rachmaninoff Piano Sonata #1 !!!

...guess who..? both are Russians, the most appreciated rendition of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 so far was that of the Sviatoslav Richter's Warsaw Concert, conducted by Stanislaw Wislocki and i am glad to see Alexander Malofeev's progression whom i follow since he was a kid and hope he would conquer the entire world with his emotional playing . Пpивет из Польши, пусть русская культура и дальше будет одной из самый значительныйх для человечества .

Alexander D Malofeev has an undeniably gift... that not even covid could hold back. I wonder if either of his parents were musicians, I can only hope that one day I have the privilege to watch Alex perform...

As the information from his website, his father is an engineer and his mother is a doctor, both are not related to musicians.

I don't know of any perfect humans but I think he's pretty close to it. I cancelled my ClassicFM subscription for banning him due to Putin's failed war. Artist ought to be immune to regular human bull shit.

Totally agree. War is bullshit enough but yo punish artists and their admirers is simply evil.

Grandpa, I don't think you have to worry about anyone "stealing" him. It seems to me that Sasha is in love with his homeland. That's where his family is, and he loves the musicians present and past from his home country.

Often Malofeev's posture evokes the image of Schroder playing his piano.
