In my opinion, the most gifted pianist of this time! I love classical music , and this young protege makes one feel every bit of every piece that he plays! He is truly gifted, and he shares that gift for us!
The talent of this boy, now a man, is beyond reckoning. People tire of superlatives to describe such genius, but we must express them anyway. For me, wonderment is the most fitting term. Hearing him and watching him play with such feeling and such insight makes one simply wonder and marvel at how such abilities, such talent and artistry can come from one human being- especially one so young. It brings me to tears.
I'm an old man but I still get tears in my eyes when I hear this fellow play the piano. A very beautiful and obviously very sweet boy gets every inch of beauty out of his music. I hope his life is happy, his music has made my life a little happier.
I couldn't agree more. His music makes me cry and gives me goosebumps. He plays so beautifully and as professionally as others far beyond his years. I could sit and listen to him for hours.
I think all of his fans are emotionally moved like you are. You know he is 22 years old now and is an artist in exile. He has not been home for some time, because he opposed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I don't know how he manages.
@@scottmiller6495 I'm in awe of Yunchan, because I just attended his NY Philharmonic debut(Rach 3), on 5/10. At 19, he is more mature and even more precise than he was when he won the Cliburn competition. Yunchan's chose the Ossia Cadenza for this occasion (he played the smaller cadenza at the Cliburn). And I honestly don't remember hearing anyone doing it better. The 3rd movement was technically near perfect. And he took an even faster pace than at the competition. Plus he attacked the Coda at the impossible tempo that Horowitz took in his legendary 1951 Rach 3. It was incredible!
Александр is really a phenomenon. And I'm proud of his stance for World peace after being wrongfully judged! His latest Rach 3 was his best. Hopefully, he got over his awkward period and will live up to his potential.
13:57 Sasha's facial expression at this moment says so much about his connection to the score. May he continue to delight the entire music world for as long as he may live. He is an extraordinarily beautiful and talented artist.
This stunningly beautiful 10 year recap of Alexander’s performance history is to get a glimpse into his thoughts, and to look deeply into his soul. From his earliest years this young man, just 20 today, has had an unusual ability to express the thoughts, feelings and desires of the composers in their truest forms. Alexander’s desire to share his magnificent music with people everywhere is truly a gift to the whole world. He is one of a kind, he stands alone!
Funny you say that. I was thinking the same. Makes you wonder. I am a skeptic when it comes to past lives, but many cultures believe. He's such a natural makes you wonder.
It doesn’t matter what you play its just simply an absolute joy listening to you no composer seems to be beyond your understanding of interpretation you are simply a true genius and its wonderful to have the internet to be able to listen to you. Good luck young man i hope you life is a full and happy one
@kaymohr...my sentiments, exactly!! But I didn't say it as quickly as the gentleman after me (Robert). Alexander is a genius and he must be a savant to play all of his music perfectly, and by memory. I admire his great musical talent, and I hope he doesn't get into the more modern world of music, such as Shostikovich, whose "noise" means nothing to me!! Alexander and his gifted fingers ARE the meaning of the beautiful Classics, from long ago, especially when he is playing his beloved Sergi Rachmaninov...the beauty and love just flows from his own heart, and his fingers carry the message to the rest of the world family! God continue to bless you and keep you, happy and safe, as you travel and play for Him.
This brilliant young artist has surely left, already behind him, a long testament to the power and eloquence such a pianist can bring to the world. Thank you Alex.
Amazing artistry for any age. Unexpected, but wonderful for someone barely into adulthood. Thank you Alexander, for your unsurpassed performances of great music. God’s blessings to you always.
Hope you’re able to live and love performance as long as Vladimir Horowitz. We soooo need your talent in this world today. Expressing our fears ,courage, sadness, triumphs and defeats. Thanks! Please stay…❤❤❤
Technic is a matter of, perhaps, 8 to 10 hours a day. But feeling, spirit, interpretation, among others which are not a matter of 25 hours a day , that is a gift which the young Alexander has a lot. Thanks Alexander for sharing your wonderful interpretations.
Hello @gonzalovaldivia3835, I have picked you haphazardly to ask a question. How can such musicians remember a full hour score without written sheet in front of them? It simply amazes me.
Much of this music cannot be performed without memorising it which is done in small sections until mastered before moving into the next section to do the same. This is a major part of the donkey work. If you memorier 1 page a day and the piece is 20 pages, it will take you 20 days to basically learn it. Then you need to ‘make it your own’ in line with the composer’s wishes. If you do the same work on 7 pieces every day, you will learn 7 pieces in 20 days (if the average number of pages is 20). This is just an example. Some pieces are shorter and otters are longer. For international piano competitions, the competitors often take at least 2 years mastering the pieces they will use to compete. Of course, for the really successful competitors, they have had many concerts and competitions along the way to develop their abilities with the selected pieces before the day of the big international piano competition like the Cliburn or Tchaikovsky competitions. It is a very challenging life requiring the utmost discipline, dedication, motivation, passion, grit which wouldn’t be possible without great talent, wonderful teaching and incredible support and sacrifice on the part of parents and others. If you have all of this and do not leave it too late, you have a chance of taking your place on the international platform as a virtuoso pianist. Of course, one cannot sum up what goes into these performances in a RU-vid message and do total justice to the whole classical music world culture but hopefully this gives you an idea and answers your question in part.
I love this guy. I love his freedom of expression, his fearless approach, delicacy and grandiosity. I love to hear Prokofiev played by him. They fit together.
Same hands, feet, brains, we all share? So, what makes it possible for this angel to play in this manner? Simple: God has placed this power into his little body and soul. Only, with God in Heaven, can this be possible!
Listening again to the Medtner and Rach Sonata#1 at the end of this video. . These pieces and this performance penetrate into a deep space. I am stilled and in another place. No other pianist has this effect and that's why I'm a dedicated fan of Alexander Malofeev. No one else goes to his level.
Alexander, thank you and thank you!! It's obvious you have taking the gifts God gave you and poured your life into them!! "To Touch the Human Soul" you have done like so few have. The emotions in the music go well beyond your hands and is expressed by your whole body. You are an artist and your creativity has only begun to be seen. Dream beyond your dreams.

I took Piano Lessons for 11 yrs starting at age 8 ("it's part of your Education! " my Parents countered to my complaints). Now at age 86 l had, many years ago, finally come to understand the huge effect 'Learning' Music has had upon my, not only understanding what 'makes music' but the immeasurable furthering of One's Mental Abilities overall: self discipline, follow-thru, achieving...... I am indebted to Mrs. MARION GOODLANDER for teaching me in firm, encouraging ways to become a disciplined Musician, but things my Parents failed to teach at home. And today l 'appreciate' Music in ways l wd not have otherwise done. BJLAROCCA
@@scottmiller6495 I believe you will also enjoy Ivan Bessonovs Tchaikovsky Concerto. Both Alexander and Ivan evoke memories of the immortal 19 century keyboard giants of the past. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nV8d1FOj_bc.html
Happy birthday to Alexander, and a happy day to you, Eve, for putting this together for all of us. Still here and still watching with admiration and amazement. His evolution from a very young pianist with remarkable talent whose fundamental intent was to get the notes right, which he did, to an artist who can use his understanding of the music and knowledge of his instrument to communicate such beauty to us who listen, is fascinating to watch. I think in addition to the composer's intention, there is a lot of Alexander Malofeev himself that touches the human soul in his performances!
Happy Birthday Alexander ... and THANK YOU Eve for putting this wonderful compilation together ... I was so looking forward to seeing him in July in Ravinia, IL which was cancelled ... after missing him last year in Boston due to Covid cancellations ... I still cling to the hope that I will get to see and hear him in person before I shuffle off this mortal coil ... but I"m 82 ... so time's fleeting! Thanks again!
Dear Jon,so glad to see you commenting here again. Alexander has made his USA debut in Buffalo in Sep. and he will have many schedules in coming days. I hope you will join one of them. Keep an eye on his official website. Wish you all the BEST!!
Thank you for this memorable piece of musical history that you have put together. How much we need to see this young man's passion and talent to restore our faith in the human being's capacity to reach deep into 'The Human Soul' and touch us so honestly! I have been following Alexander Malofeev for some years now and am constantly touched by his unselfconscious joy and focus when performing. He is so comfortable with himself and his talent.
Oh yes you are an angel Alexander and you play divinely, you always chose amazing compositors and your interpretations are always outstanding, congratulations ! ❤
Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini - so exquisitely played. Breathtaking. I think I stopped breathing for a few seconds. He plays like an old soul. Just incredible how he can handle both forceful and delicate pieces with such ease and finesse. Thank you Alexander!
GENIUS ..I call him Alexander the great. Also genius is a word I seldom use as they are born few and far between. At age 15 he played Rachmaninoff's concerto no 2 and it was more than gripping. Two VIP names..Arthur Rubenstein, Martha Argerich. Yes ..he's on that level. They are the geniuses of the past. Now there's Alexander... 21st century genius. 👵🏻
You have done it again Eve! An outstanding montage of our Alexander throughout the years! Even at 11 playing concerto’s from memory and the intensity of his performances. Wow! What I love is for large parts he closes his eyes and is just totally engrossed in what he is playing. He is God’s gift to the world and his gift is from God but worked at through his own dedication
Thank you Eve! You've now mastered the art of editing music on the cadence and the jump cuts are much better! Keep up the good work! We can't get enough of this master of the piano.
He has already achieved more in his short life than most can expect to reach in 100years. Keep shining your light you beautiful and utterly talented man. Wow. Totally in love at 38 whoops! ❤
One of the greatest musicians in the world! Bravo! Was nice to meet you in Bari (Italy). Wonderful evening and the Nutcracker in the Christmas Eve. Magic❤️🙏🏻
In some interviews, Alexander Malofeev (admitted) to the enormous number of hours and hard work he put in, even as a young child. Obviously, he is an enormously talented artist with a phenomenal memory. But my point is that nobody should think that this is possible without enormously hard work. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
Hello! This wonderfull young Russian pianist made a grand steps in playing. He has a very hardkor, especially surpraising the audience in a way of grown up... He is authentic in everythingn! So,all the best for him, Marcelina
