Alexandra Dovgan - L'Egyptienne van Rameau | Podium Witteman 

As a long struggling harpsichord student, I find it really rare to hear Rameau performed so magnificently on piano.

She outdoes Sokolov and everyone else in this piece, I say this 100% seriously. I went into this video expecting nothing, because child prodigies usually aren't interesting musically. But this girl plays with the sensitivity, elegance, clarity, and confidence of an old school virtuoso who's 5x her age. If I heard this without knowing who played it I would assume that it was a top tier pianist with many decades of specializing in Baroque repertoire. Fantastic pedaling as well. Hopefully she is able to play other music like this, because she could be the next Argerich (or better).

Cette version de L'Égyptienne est à mes yeux la meilleure que j'aie pu entendre, et de très loin, et j'y reviens régulièrement en expérant un jour un disque. Sous les doigts de pianistes ô combien renommés, ce morceau avait traversé mes oreilles sans y laisser de trace. La plupart des virtuoses, en jouant Rameau, se fracassent sur deux écueils : une vitesse excessive qui empêche les lignes de se développer , ou bien une ornementation qui veut rivaliser avec le clavecin et qui empêche aussi la musique de chanter librement. Sous les doigts magiques de la jeune Alexandra, tout devient simple et évident. Simplicité apparente, car il est vraiment TRÈS difficile de pouvoir donner cette illusion que la musique coule de source.

Now I know for sure that Rameau composed this song especially for Sasha Dovgan.

I ADORE Sasha and everything she does. Here she is only 11 years and 2 months old, and plays with the consummate maturity of a maestro. Not just the music, but the bearing, the comportment, the Zen-like stillness and calm, tell us that she will be a force to reckon with in the musical firmament for many decades to come. Pour me trouver alors, regardez, oui, dans le caniveau (je suis désolé mais bon c'est le jour et la nuit). Et quand on revient sur la musique que nous offre Alexandra, si pure et si profonde : unique, on est terrassé par une émotion irrésistible....

One can feel a period of music (Baroque Period of Music) from Dovgan’s performance unmistakably, which is the soul of music, the evidence of history and the key to Dovgan’s success. Congratulations!

I think Alexandra's performance would be most recognisable by Rameau, above most if not all others. Others have slightly fancier trills, etc, but the overall clarity is everything.
