Well said Maurice ,Upton park as us Evertonians called it was my first away game. I was 13 me and my mates went by coach. Bunked off school because it left at 1 pm Night game ,we didn't get home until 9 next morning . Wha a fucking hiding my mar gave me ha ha . Always loved watchin the hammers. That close to the pitch ,you could have booted the ball yourself. Great place ,great fans ,great. History. Just like Everton and Villa we have history .unlike them fuckin red Squatters across the park. As Alf would say ,bloody Sue em ,livin in our bloody ground and not a pot to piss in ha ha ha take care Up the Hammers !
Very similar clubs West ham & Everton even goodison park reminds me of the old Boleyn, one of the last old skool grounds left, your mad to let it go as we've seen ⚒ the Black Lion pub here is still there in plaistow & a regular waterhole for the players back then, behind Bobby Moore you can just make out the name of the pub >The Black Lion
The video clip above is actually is taken from the second Alf Garnett film, the first film being "Till Death Us Do Part" from 1968 and the second film (as above) is entitled "The Alf Garnett Saga" from 1972 i know because i have both these films and like good old British comedy films and sitcoms. Both films as far as i'm aware can be watched in full here on RU-vid so if you want to watch this film and the original film look for them here on RU-vid, both are well worth watching in my opinion. Love Alf Garnett "Gawd Bless You Alf!"
Johnny Speight, who wrote the scripts, playing the boring git at the bar. Brilliant. Bobby Moore having a drink in the pub. Brilliant. Pop Robson back heeled goal. Brilliant. Georgie Best missing the ball. Brilliant. Clyde Best. Brilliant. Upton Park brilliant. Classic West Ham team. Brilliant. Alf Garnett. Brilliant. The early Seventies. Fucking horrible.
I remember seeing this on tv when I was a kid, in particular when Alf meets Bobby Moore in the pub toilets. I thought it was the "Till death us do part" film, so I bought the film on dvd, only to find that it wasn't. Also Una Stubbs played his daughter Rita in the series and later on in "In sickness and in health".
It's actually called The Alf Garnett Saga... here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o8y4igrUb8M.html some great stuff on that channel you should check it out!
I can help you with this one because The film you remember seeing on tv when you was a kid is actually called "The Alf Garnett Saga" it was made in 1972 and is the sequel film to "Till Death Us Do Part" however you are correct Una Stubbs who played Rita in "Till Death Us Do Part" in both the film and tv series was not in the sequel film her part was taken by British actress Adrienne Posta as Rita and neither was actor Anthony Booth as Mike because he was recast with actor Paul Angelis as Mike this time, although Dandy Nichols as Else Garnett does appear in it, sadly as far as i'm still aware "The Alf Garnett Film" has never been released on Dvd as it must be in the Public Domain instead.
