Video completely saved my ass. My Alfa just had a fresh MOT then driving back at 40mph the wheel flies off. I followed this video step by step to get the wheel back on. So thank you! PS: getting it back on at 2am in the freezing cold and pitch black was extremely difficult 😂

Thanks for sharing Vialetto Tony! As an additional help for viewers, I note that this tire change is in optimal conditions on stable, flat, hard roadway. I've often found it useful to carry a small 12-18" x 6-12" flat plank of wood in the car, in case a tire change has to be performed on a soft surface like shifting sand. A soft surface can ruin your ability to jack up the car enough to get the clearance necessary to remove the wheel; but setting the jack on the plank of wood can give your jack a wider footprint (much like a trekker on snowshoes). If you're lucky, your little square of wood will fit out of the way over the top of the tire jack kit, under the mat.

A great suggestion. Good advice for sure.

Thanks for this - managed to change my first ever tire. The Jack was leaning a little though. It definitely wasn't straight up. Nevertheless it managed

I own a Guilietta always carry a length of bar that fits in the standard wheel brace for leverage and a better scissor jack because you made it look quite easy but when I tried it I found it pretty useless and hard work seeming to only turn it half a turn at a time also extracting and replacing the bits out of the plastic holder wasn’t that easy either

I once tried to get rear off with tools to put spare on.. 2or3 of the nuts were on so tight by garage they just wouldn't come off until I got to borrow an extended bar. Is it just brute force really to get them off?

Hi Cran. They should be tightened up to around 120Nm. That’s fairly tight, and with the stock tools may need a bit of brute force to loosen the nuts. Using the torque wrench to tighten them (which has a longer handle) makes it feel a lot easier as you’d expect. Some garages will just use the air gun and over tighten them, rather than spend the time tightening them to manufacturer spec.

Does the car jack from Alfa Romeo 156 fit the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the case for repair tools?

I honestly couldn't answer that question. Having moved to a trolley jack for all driveway matters, i'd recommend that in a heartbeat. All the best 👍
