Thanks so much for taking the time to experience our Stelvio and capture our experiences to share with others. It was an amazing experience to work with you on this; and the finished 'product' came out amazing. Keep on creating amazing content!
Thank you my man. Enjoyed our morning together! Creating content with great people like you from our local community is something I’m grateful to be able to do. We will do our best to keep creating content that adds value to this world.
It's all about the drive of an Alfa, not a blankety-blank touch screen or other mundane stuff. This is a drivers machine. It's balanced and quick and intoxicating and perhaps the most beautiful SUV on Earth. Period end of the story.
Our two Stelvio 2.0 have been flawless there is something about QV models that’s architecturally different obviously. Nothing drives like these cars trade off fun, emotion or logic
Great the owner was this honest 😂 the earlier cars seemed to be possessed due to bad batteries and electrical ground issues and or software. After owning 4 Alfa i still want another but good thing i own so many cars just in case ha ha ha
@@trekhocars what year is yours and is it a Stelvio QV or Giulia let us know what happened as I am about to buy another any day now because I need my head examined.
18 and 19 QV has DI motor which have well known carbon build up and causing many issues where most early bad reviews came from. They addressed issue and switched to Port fuel injection and side mounted gasoline direct injection 20~current model QV. If you want to get QV , get the 20~. I have 2019 2.0 TI sport with Performance package and I love it.
The DI has definitely been problematic. After we finished recording this video more issues arose with the injectors. Offline until we can get some new parts in!
I've heard a couple rumors about carbon build up, but no reliable sources on this confirming it for the 2.9L. Seems to be more of a guess by some. I do have the 2.9L in 2018 Giulia, a 2L Stelvio and I do frequent the Giulia and Stelvio forums.
@@ericbluealfa our local alfa service has had a few come in for carbon build-up; both the 2.0 and 2.9. that said, it is always ones that haven't been driven hard.
Good question! I think if it is well maintained and has good service records; it's not a bad buy! You certainly take a chance with a car like this...but you would be hard pressed to find a vehicle that performs as strong as this does at that price point. Now that we have finally sorted out all of my issues, I am back to worry free driving, full of smiles. Just be ready for the maintenance costs that come along with it as well!
I had a Stelvio diesel for 3 years. I sold it for a Macan S: MY2023: my biggest mistake! Lots of problems with the eletronic on the Macan. After 2 months, today was the 3rd time I brought it back to the dealership. They have to reset and install again the new software of the whole infotainment. If they manage I will get my car back tomorrow afternoon..🤨 I will buy a Stelvio QV as soon as I can… 🙋🏻♂️
hi I owned a guilia it was faultless and now a 2.0 veloce stelvio they are so underrated in the UK compared to German cars mine is a joy to drive ps I have touch screen and its temperamental I just she's italian
It’s really hard to wrap my head around a $6700 rotors and pads brake job, and $2700 to change the accessory belt, and need to do that every 30k miles. Is the damn belt made of underwear elastic? I’d totally try to stretch out the miles between changes. Somebody has to make a stronger belt. These days what’s even driven by engine, alternator and a/c?!? I’d be curious if Kyle has found an independent mechanic who works on these. That would save a ton of money.
Good questions! For the brakes, I had a friend who is versed in vintage Alfa Romeo work with me on the job (i.e. he did the brakes while he taught me the process). Parts are about $500 for each corner, so about $2,000 if you are changing all four corners. For the belt, 95% percent of the cost is in labor; its wild how much labor goes into a belt! There are a few other mechanics that work on Alfa in our area; but honestly they are charging close to the same rates. For now...I've been spreading out the miles as you suggested, and letting my wife's VW take the brunt of my work miles!
I think a lot of us who own these cars are just keeping an eye on the belt. We think that Alfa was being way too conservative with the 4 yr./36k mile interval. I'll probably do my own when it is time.
@@ericbluealfa agreed on the belt estimate. my belt was changed at 30k just before i purchased, thankfully! i have watched videos on the belt change, and no way i feel confident to touch it myself, haha!
How is it offroad? Is there an offroad mode? Can you lift it? Air suspension? Im contemplating between this and the porshe Macan GTS. The problem with the GTS is no android auto, so im waiting until PCM 6 on the macans. But the Stilvio QV, it doesn't look like it has that offroad ability like the macan, and i dont think iv seen that you can configure it with a hidden tow hook? How do you tow a trailer? I love the alfa but it doesn't seem to have that dual purpose, do it all car like the macan GTS, its a sports car/family car/offroad/tow/touring car.. etc..the macan seems like its the perfect car for a 1 car garage, unlike the stelvio Q. Or am i wrong?
There is not an off road mode available for the Stelvio; though it is AWD. The ground clearance is OK, though I wouldn't do any off roading with the performance tires and the factory stance. It's okay for clearing low curbs, etc. but I definitely would not classify it as an off road capable vehicle. I have not seen any aftermarket kits for lifting the Stelvio (though there are plenty of lowering options). Stealth does have a hitch available for Quadrifoglio; but all of their marketing shows the base Stelvio in the photos. I'm not sure how installation would go with the placement of the exhaust on the Quad. I've not looked into it as towing has never been a need for me. For us, the only functionality I needed in my daily was a little bit of ground clearance for jobsites, and that is covered with the Quad. So to me, it is simply a racecar with ground clearance and plenty of capacity in the boot!
On the 2.0 Stelvio you can get an optional tow hook, so it would probably work on the quad version (I've seen pics online of quads towing trailers, but I'm not sure if they used a tow hook from the manufacturer or put one on aftermarket). For off-roading, the Porsche is likely better. The Stelvio's suspension design includes really burly/thick arms on the bottom that are very very easy to "beach" in deep mud, sand, or snow (trust me, I've done it, lol). Watch Sarah N Tuned's RU-vid review - she puts one on a lift and you can immediately see what I'm talking about. The Stelvio also has a really, really terrible turning radius, I believe because of the Ackerman geometry that makes it feel incredibly responsive on the road but leads to some "skittering" (almost like wheel hop) when you're trying to navigate really tight spaces at full lock.
@@jonasbaine3538 I got the stelvio it looked way better next to the Trackhawk but the trackhawk feels more comfortable and brutal when u hit the gas but the stelvio is right there in terms of speed the stelvio is right there even faster sometimes compared to a stock Trackhawk
I have a 21 stelvio veloce, best handling car /suv ive ever had... better then e90 bmws. Power is great in D mode, in N its lacking. I had some minor issues like AC leak at ac line, window switch is defective but no squeks or rattles so far w 5000 miles on the vehicle. Would I recommend to someone , no probably not! unless they appreciate the driving dynmamics and its uniquness. Most people are sheep so they wont appreciate it and will just complain that its interior isnt like BMW /AUdi and Benz. Also resale value is terrible! Its really only for true petrol heads.
So 90k for a cheap, rattling, noisy interior, with mechanical issues before 30k miles. Expensive maintenance and questionable reliability. And not that many dealerships around. Why would you buy this instead of bmw x3m, or macan gts?
Because of several reasons but I'll try to resume: If you buy it now, you're not getting the 2018 model seen here. The car received a good update in 2019 with several improvements, ...and it's getting another update now in 2023. Aesthetical speaking, is clearly different than the usual stuff in a pleasant looking way for many people And it's also dynamically different for the better, It's the perfectly balanced chassis, the engine, the suspension, the direct steering, the dynamics and pleasure to drive the car offers. They didn't mentioned it on this video, but this car is also very competent, pleasant and comfortable to drive slowly around town or just enjoying a calm drive.
