I think you are spot on, Stef. The Stelvio is certainly the more flexible, more practical and more confidence-inspiring vehicle, and you can take it places the Giulia would not survive. By all accounts the Stelvio is the better vehicle. But we are not mere machines - sometimes the threat (or reality) of a bit of rear-end playfulness is the thing that keeps you smiling from ear to ear. In my opinion the Giulia is also the prettier, more eye-grabbing car.... But in the end, what a choice Alfa have given us!

Love the wheels on the Giulia but for me it would be Stelvio ( if I could afford either)

Great video thanks for doing this comparison..if I just wanted a weekend toy I’d go the Giulia but for those who can’t do that and need just one car that ticks all the boxes but still want a sporty drive the Stelvio is the ultimate compromise - plenty of room for the family and lots of sporting fun for a car enthusiast

In my book theres very few favorites the past 3-5 years or so in the "a-normal-person-can-almost-afford-them" cathegory.. But some of them are: Audi RS3, BMW M3, Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, Mercedes Benz A45, Mazda Miata (yes because its very light/nimble..) and i just wish VW would have released the Golf R400. But maby the future have somthing nice to offer, anyone remember the uber cool V6 concept "GTI Roadster" vw spat out at Worthesse Show a few years ago... My gosh the noise... Im still in love! Pls check it out! 👍

Because I'm shallow and to me the looks of a car are one of the major reasons why I'd buy it, I would have to go with the work of art that is the Giulia Quadrifolio. On the bright side if you enter the gates of heaven after a really bad accident due to slippery road conditions, what a stylish entrance that would be!!!!

This question is easy to answer. The Giulia! It looks better, it drives better, it simply is what Alfa stands for: fast saloon cars or sports cars. I just can‘t stand SUV‘s anymore.

Giulia Is more pure, RWD... In a warm country I would go for a Giulia, in a damp climate like UK with a AWD, so Stelvio

I prefer the Giulia. The design is much better. And it's a RWD. In wet conditions the Stelvio is obviously more secure.

Very simple decision, the Giulia. I don't care for SUV's at all. I'm a car person. I also do not historically like AWD vehicles either. Good video though. PS. It doesn't snow in California where I live.

Witch is best just depends on how you will use the car. I think when you only have 1 car the Stelvio really is the best option. When you have 2 cars to pick from you can think about the giulia instead. With 3 cars its obvious. The Giulia is the one to buy.

A bit surprise to hear the interior space to be about the same. After all the Stelvio is slightly bigger and considerably taller.

For a brand to have their SUV perform quicker than their sports saloon is ridiculous.

It ultimately depends on what you're looking for in a car in general. Both of these are beautiful machines with blistering performance. One of them is slightly better at that last bit. The other is more practical. In my case, I'm picking up a brand new Stelvio Quad in a couple of weeks and for me, the choice was easy: I have a big Alaskan Malamute dog, and the Stelvio has a ton of boot space. Giulia might be more 'fun' to drive, but it ticks fewer boxes. But there's something else, too. Driving pleasure is a very complex thing. Sometimes it's about kick-down acceleration and raw speed. Sometimes it's the way a car feels through the corners, the responsiveness of the handling and how 'connected' to the wheels and the road you feel. And sometimes it's things like lording it over other motorists - something you get in the Stelvio, but not in the Giulia. So if the Stelvio feeds one's megalomaniacal tendencies, in a movie the hero would drive a Giulia and the villain would drive the Stelvio?

Hi Stef, i know the answer to this question but which would you choose between stelvio qf or Audi RSQ3.

Nice review 👍🏻 got some reservations about fast SUVs however, if it still handles well the 4WD and bit of practicality may clinch it for me. Mainly the 4WD. There’s nothing more frustrating (experienced this in an auto M140i) than when it the wet, you can’t shrug off cars that you really should with ease.

The Stelvio looks much better that the X5, Q7 or the Mercs (dont remember the name). The bad thing here is that it costs as much as its rivals, which enjoy better reputation... that karma is something really hard for Alfa to leave behind

Stef it seems that you seem to like quick accelerating above all the other attributes, and to me that smacks of Boy Racer country!!! This is not a criticism of you personally ,as I`m a 72 year old pensioner and have done all the loud exhausts in my youth. I realize that most Alfas are loud brash and perport to be fast but driving isn`t just about how quickly you can get to where you are going, you have to do it safely too, boring that might be but staying alive is preferrable yes? The cars are nice lookers though I`ll give you that one (big of me Eh Stef!!!)

I think they both look great but was disappointed in the interior material quality when looked at the Giulia it put me off (compared to my 5 Series).

id go giulia personally. i don't like SUV's really, especially when im behind one and can't see whats going on ahead. also in my experience on the road most SUV drivers can't drive to save their lives. people buy them with an idea that they're somehow safer but my 3 door mito has a better safety rating than most SUV's... if i had to buy an SUV it would be the stelvio all day everyday no question. its way better looking than any of those ugly nissans or that ugly toyota that looks like an obese honda civic loool

Well, if you have kids and live in a country with snow... there is really not much of a choice.

For daily drive we use Jeep Renegade and in weekend Giulia and last model Spider 🚘🚘🚗🚗🇮🇹🇮🇹

The Giulia losted it's identity and sided with BMW alike styling, hence their rear end, and licked the GM light switch…I still love my 156 and 159 more then these look wise. If I do buy a new alfa Romeo I have to take SUV variant… at least I can recognize my ride…
