Dutch version is easy the best version, because the writer off the show (Herman Van Veen) made and sing the songs of the show. And also he dith a German dub off those songs.

i grew up with the german version - i liked allways the voice of some charaters ´cause they are spoken by dutch and you can hear the dialect / but I understood a lot of content much later, for example, the third rich - i am now near 30 years old and i will let my son (1 year) look this children series if he is 3 years old-reason for that: in the old series was very different to deal with current problems and not all talk nicely, like today!

Dutch: The original version can never be bad. Danish: Uh... _Mysterious_? (It just didn't leave a specific impact on me.) English: Not prominent enough. Finnish: *My ears are bleeding!* German: Very good; my first version. Hebrew: Cute, I guess. Japanese: Charming and with its own touch. Serbian: Very good, one of the best. Spanish: Nice but maybe a little too gentle. Swedish: Funny but good. La La La part Dutch: Very melodic. Danish: Very determined (if I can say so). English: Meh. Finnish: No comment. German: Probably the best but somehow I have a feeling that the male singer's voice is too deep and the female voice is too high. Hebrew: Fail. Japanese: Very unique. Serbian: Nonexistant. Spanish: Gentle and calming. Swedish: The best. _Period_.

Lol, so much misinformation. The Dutch version is the original one, the singer Herman Van Veen also wrote the original text. That's why it's so coherent and among the better ones. (by I accident I grew up with that one, living in Belgium/Flanders). The story of Alfred J. Kwak comes from a Dutch theatre show. The song exists way longer then the animation series. The Japanese one has another touch, but it's also really nice, because the animation was done in Japan. So, in Japan they also really put effort in it and chose a good singer. For Japanese market although, things must be more cute (kawaii). There is also a German part in the production of this series. The Dutch singer Herman Van Veen sings the German version too. There isn't much of an opinion in what I wrote above. Lots of preferences have to do with childhood memories. I prefer the Dutch one most, it's the original one, as said above. I understand the text, and it's my childhood version. I also like the Japanese one. Also very coherent. And I am learning Japanese, so I understand lots. The other ones feel to me like somewhere between good, OK and really bad.

+Anlissan Tomodachi Ther German version is awesome. The text is beautiful and Herman van Veen sang it with so much emotion behind it.

Wow, that was informative! This series is my childhood favourite, and I absolutely love the German and Dutch voices (and intros). There almost identical! I also think (from the languages I've seen scenes of this show from) that they are the superior versions.

+Nick van Zuijlen Well, to be fair, he pretty much lived in the second world war and Dolf the Hitlerbird was gaining more and more power. KajiRider1997 also mentioned David the Gnome...I'll be honest, that guy gave me nightmares. Sure, he was kind to animals, but all he talked about were; ' _Humans_ those wrecking, hateful, wasteful humans, look at the litter they left here in this water' and then you'd see a video or pictures of littering and cars. I understand nów that it was educational about cleaning the environment. But knowing those gnomes were able to climb into homes (they did that in one episode I believe, visiting a boy in his bed while he was asleep) *and* knowing that gnome had a doctorsbag filled with sharp items like needles, knifes, scalpels, chloroform, hooks and other "surgery" items, was enough for me, to have nightmares about David taking revenge on 'those humans' for years.

Have to say, I like the german and english version the best, mostly cause the part where 2 voices sing LALALA and Alfred get's grabbed by the Grimm Reaper. The two vocies give it kinda a mysterious yet dramatic touch which allways gives me goosebumps. It's my favourite part in this song. Japanese....not quiet sure. I grew up with the Dutch version. Here's what I think. The Dutch, German, Spanish, Swedish and Japanese versions are great. Danish is pretty good (is that Herman singing?). Finnish, Hebrew and Serbian are all right. There's also a French version (not in the video) which is pretty good. The English version is just bad. It really lacks the abstract lyrics from the original which make it a great song, the voice doesn't fit and the "lalala" part is off. They could have come up with better lyrics in a day and have Herman van Veen sing it.

There are a lot of childhood shows that where in collaboration with Japan, which most people probably never noticed. :P Though you can see it in the animation. One great eample here, the one part where Alfred has a diamond on his head. The shadding and reflection of this diamond is something you would usual just see done in japanese animation.

+Saljon Alright, but Alfred is Dutch and he's fighting Dolf the Hitlerbird. I'm pretty sure the idea came from the Dutch and the Germans might've collaborated, but Herman van Veen is Dutch as well and I'm quite sure he started with his own countrie's song first.
