A 5 day loop, backcountry camping, canoe trip in the Western portion of Algonquin Park, Ontario. Our trip turns rough in the middle with an intense thunderstorm, heavy rain and windbound conditions.
The loop begins in Magnetawan Lake, with 1 night on Daisy Lake, 2 nights on Misty Lake and 1 night on Jubilee Lake. This trip took place August 29th - September 2nd 2020 with our good friend Steve and our 1.5 year old dog that loves to jump out of the canoe and go for swims.
Day 1 Steve dunks and get totally soaked as he slips and falls into Daisy Lake. Night 1 we cooked sausages on the fire at our beautiful campsite. Day 2 starts with coffee and dog swims. As we head down the Petawawa River that morning and do some fishing, we then head over the one the best camp sites on Misty Lake.

Question: do you just go with wet feet all day or are you wearing neoprene socks? Hoping to cover some of the same ground later this year!

We wear water shoes and wool socks. When we get to camp we change into camp shoes. We’ve found this combination really works for us. We have neoprene socks as well but find the fit a bit bulky and don’t use them. Hope you have a great trip Art!

I paddle, but not like before we got Emma. With Emma needing more training to stay in the canoe, when she starts to get excited, wanting to jump out I have to stop paddling to pet and calm her.. sometimes feed her treats, depends on the day, but day #1 of a trip she is always VERY excited. She's getting calmer and calmer though.

Haha, yes we brought one pair of 'traveling' pants, but we all had a change of clothes for sleeping in or 'emergencies'. Getting wet in late August is not as much of a concern as other times of year. If it were spring or late fall we would bring another change of clothes :)
