I think the Joker card is just another character rather than season 3, if you read the manga the Joker is actually just an entity that overlooks the entire playing field and not exactly a game
In the manga, he is just a ferryman. Between life and death he guides those would are about to die into the borderlands and guides them out of it if they survive and want to live.
I have never repeated “wtf” so much in my life while watching the last episode. The little fake-out twist had my jaw dropped, then it dropped even further when it turned out it was fake. I absolutely LOVED this season, this whole show even.
Mira continuously making up those plot twists was the show's clever way of making fun or making references to other stories that made similar plot twists (which are good and intriguing in their own right, but would make AiB predictable because they're already been used).
That Mira's fake explanation stack like 4 times, I was losing my minds and screaming.... WHICH IS IT and then when they cut to therapy part...I was like THERE'S FUCKIN NO WAYYYY... THIS IS BULLSHIT and then sike again.... then cut back to game then I was relieved and not long after it's all illusion again AND THEN. Sike again show the joker card u was WHICH IS IT????❓❓
In the manga she admits that she completely made it up, for she doesn't actually know the answer herself. But she reminds Arisu that it still doesn’t erase the possibility that her lies could actually be true.
Aguni surviving about 30 bullets and cheating death 4 times and Niragi surviving being burnt alive twice, a fall from a 3 story building and being shot with a shotgun completely baffled me 😂
@𝓣𝓲𝓶𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓭𝔂 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓸𝓾𝓼 𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓽𝓼 I saw this one theory floating around that a person's individual will to live affected their borderland vitality. So basically if that person desperately wanted to survive, it would take more for them to die. Which makes sense (in my opinion) because it's been proven that hope can drastically increase the ability for survival
I love how they teased us with two lazy explanations, “virtual reality” and “aliens”, and then started to tease us with the dream sequence only for it to be a believable illusion created by Mira. This show really had me on the edge of my seat all throughout.
@@iangathogo9750 lmao, I partially fell for the first one but kinda expected a twist. Didn't believe a single thing the lady said after that one and i was literally yelling at my screen "arisu stop listening to that witch you dumbass"
Guys please help I really don’t understand. That Mira talk was fake right? It WAS all a dream right? Cause Arisu was in a coma because of the explosion. What am I missing here?
Personally I think the last game (represented by the joker card) is actually life itself. It’s mentioned multiple times in this season that life is also a game which we all play. The joke is you can’t ever win, as you can’t win at life, everyone dies eventually, which means everyone eventually loses the game. However even if we all eventually lose the game of life, what matters is you make the most of the game and learn to enjoy it, because in the end even if you lost, then atleast you had fun playing.
Were are the A's? A Club, A Heart, A diamond and the A Spade? Were is Alice? Were is the rabbit? Why do people know each other in Borderland? How did people know which player died? How did people know which player had lose a leg? Matrix refers : Were is Neo? Were is the creator? Were are the agents? Can you go back to the Matrix? Squidgame refers : Were are the V. I. P? Who is the Front man? Who is player 001?
Our choice isn't whether or not we want to live, but *why* we want to live. What do you want to do with your life? For what, or for whom, do you continue to live? This show provided us with a variety of possible perspectives and resolutions from each character. Arisu's entire journey was him trying to come to his own conclusion. And in the end he finally did. In the game of life, are you playing to win, or just to enjoy yourself? It's up to you what the clear condition is. Then again, it's not like you ever really needed one to begin with.
This show actually turned out to be one of the most poetic interpretations of self-forgiveness and willingness to live for a second time--- executed in the most creative of ways possible. Bravo!
Basically what happened is that a meteor struck Shibuya and all of the people who are there present was suppose to be dead or will die. Borderland is a concept of whether you die or live, a boundary of life and death, in short. From what I can tell, Borderland already exists but since the meteor crash caused too much casualty, hence the influx of people arrived in borderland. You can say that borderland is a place where people who are in coma, clinically dead, or in a near death experience go. They play games for their survival to live in the real life. It's more of like a second chance. If you die in the borderland, since your real body is already in a vegetable state, your heart will not beat again, hence causing a person to be officially dead. If you survived and somehow lived, your heart will start pumping, officially opening your eyes that can be considered miracle (coma patients waking up, for example). That's why it explained that all of the survivors of the Shibuya meteor crash had their hearts stopped beating for a minute or in short, clinically dead. After defeating Mira, those who didnt want to become a citizen of borderland, lived and opened their eyes. While those who wanted to stay in the borderland, are still currently in a coma or only a machine is making their heart beats. [PS EDIT] Actually in the manga, the Joker appeared after Arisu defeated Mira. The Joker is neither a player or a game master. You can consider him the grim reaper or the the guy rowing the boat to the netherlands. He is an intermediator overseeing what is happening in the borderland. If you ask me, based on my opinion, he's the one shooting the lasers from the sky. However, there's a possibility that a third season is coming since we have "Alice in Borderland: Retry," where Arisu was forced to go back to the borderlands, in short, he experienced another near-death experience in real life.
How about previous citizens of borderland, like kings and queens of club, spade, heart, etc... I don't think they are from this accidents. So they are from another accidents which happened before who are still in coma in real life?
The last episode was brilliant. The queen of hearts was so engaging in that even the audience was confused which reality Arisu was in. He was really tested in that game. The writers were very clever.
Not me, only the hospital. I know much about the Masonic Freemasons. Movies, series and games with the same lie and illusion : . Matrix (1-4) . Fractured (Netflix - org) . Shutter Island (Netflix) . The Cure of Wellness - movie . Dark City - Movie . Resident evil (3) - movie . Equilibrium (Netflix) . Saw (1) - serie . 1899 (Netflix - org) . Bioshock infinity + collection - game Many end are also lies. I know that many awaken people are still a sleep and following the (R)White bunny.
that final battle between aguni, the girls and the king of spades has to be one of the most badass boss fight scenes i personally have ever seen in my entire life, literally watched the whole fight scene like 5 times back to back, it's so well done
its really good made. i love how he doesnt wait or take a monolog on why he is killing someone he just do it without hesitation. sadly his aim is bullshit for named charakters.
@@Threat_LvL I agree, he just goes ham on everyone (and yeah his aim sucks when it comes to main cast lmao but ig they have plot armour) and how Aguni just tackles him again after he shoots heiya
I found it really frustrating how he was pretty much immortal, and how no one aimed for his head. Also he dodged bullets and arrows that he couldn't possibly have seen coming. Cool fighting scene but he should have lost
Yea like when Kuina does a roundhouse and somehow manages to dodge SMG fire in close quarters while also making a quip to Anne. There really is body armor that can withstand the small caliber rounds he took, but then he took it off the vest, like what?
I have a theory that the reason why the one person in the film could remember what the fireworks were was because she said she had a brain surgery when she was young she had probably already been to borderland causing her to be aware of what was going on
@@juliette9841 they forget when they come back to the real world but not completely or arisu wouldn’t recognize usagi. my theory is it’s like a dream that slips between your fingers the more you try to recall details. but if you were to re-enter that same dream, just as that girl has re-entered borderland, you will know what’s going on in your dream consciousness
Yeah for a split second I thought Ann died just recalled the defibrillator brought her heart beat back right.. and Chishiya is by far my favourite because of the game where you read the collars and the Maths one haha
This Season was fire. Chishiya is defo one of my favourite characters, along with Ann. I swear if they were to remake a live-action Resident Evil film, I’d cast Ann as Ada. Her hair and the way she carries herself are too much.
I think the Joker card is basically referring to our daily life as a game itself. Especially at the last episode after winning against Mira, she said that "Life is like a game. So enjoy it more." I'm not saying season 3 is impossible, but In my opinion season 2 would've been the perfect ending for the series.
I agree, I don't think there needs to be a season three. We cared for these characters because we wanted them to live, we wanted them to go home and live life to the fullest, and we know there is a "home". Introducing a third round with them all would be torture porn at this point. Also, I think most of our questions were answered and it wrapped up beautifully. Sometimes, it's okay to let a show rest instead of dragging it out.
i disagree, i feel like the whole show was about plot twists and sinister endings. ending the show the way it did didn’t seem to fit and that the joker card would be a great fit to the shows end
@@j.smithhh The show was about giving meaning and value to life. The opening sequence forshadowed Arisu's struggles in his own virtual reality, and remember, the Queen of Hearts gave him several clues that 'it was all in his mind.' We're getting a Season III, but we don't need it.
I cannot believe how well-written that ending was. It was emotional and relieving to see all the major characters returning to their world as if nothing happened.
Okay, but can we talk about how none of them ended up dying? 😂 At one point it became annoying. Like, how did the girl with one foot survive all those shots?
The ending was so sweet i liked it a lot. If they are gonna do a Joker level, i hope its for the people who are still in between life and death and not the characters that wake up at the end. I really don't want Usagi and Arisu to suffer even more lol.
Arisu and Usagi get a happy ending. In the manga, there is a 2 year timeskip at the very end showing Arisu becoming a psychologist and marrying Usagi. I think the Joker card is there to symbolise how real life itself is like a game, as Mira said. But its difficulty is different for every person which is why the Joker has no designated number. Life is a game in which the clear condition is decided by you and you alone. Live it as you see fit.
This season is really good, better than S1 I think. But there's no joker level, its not a playing card and certainly no need to be collected. I think its more of a metaphysical explanation of game vs reality in tokyo
From my understanding, the Joker isn't meant for a game it just represents the overseer(?) of the games. I guess some kind of entity that controlled all of it. A Joker based game would've been cool though!
I think the joker card was just there as a red herring to make you want more, and although I would love a season 3, I can’t logically see how they could make a third season with the ending and the explanation of what borderland was. Think it’s wrapped up quite nicely.
@@Ch1co541 it's the land between life or death those who go there are often about to die but if they win and don't accept residency they live in the real world if they accept residency they saty in the borderlands running games until they die
Pretty sure all of them are still in the game but just doesn't know it yet. It would be weird for all of them to have their heart stopped at the same.time and having memories of each other or at least have a feeling they have met. I see the joker card to be the real final game and their way of escaping it or beating it probably the same as what happen to the matrix.
I loved this season!!!! Only downside that I absolutely hated is no one remembered each other at the end... wish they remembered and it would be exclusive to only them to remember the experiences and connections they shared.
I think it’s best that way, if it was me I wouldn’t wanna rmeber all the things I been through that would drive me crazy and end up in mental hospital instead of living my life to fullest lol😂
They were in a coma how were they supposed to remember eachother? The Borderlands is a thin veil between life and death, plus they only met because a meteor struck down and hurt most of them and fell into a deep sleep The games resemble the "Fight for your life" sentence, if you lose a game You stop breathing
One thing I took from nobody remembering one another is that nobody could be held accountable for their actions in the borderlands. If they knew this when in the borderland then they could rig the games and sacrifice any player they liked to ensure a victory and getting them self out alive, they would only have to live with the guilt of killing for the entirety of their stay in the borderland and would forget once they are out, that is if they truly got out of there.
Is nobody else seeing how Mira is actually 'The death' and she is trying to make Arisu give up and quit the game (which means life). And that the people that choose to stay in Borderland are crossing over to death. Also it now makes sense why nobody died after like 100 bullits and injury's because they are fighting in real life in the hospital to stay alive and the game/Mira (Death) is trying to take them to the otherside in that 1min that they had no heartbeat.
Listen your explanation its make sense now the game was just to make everyone feel hopeless and give up the will to live people who their visa dead probably same like give up to live but how we seeing ann it probably doesn't matter if we lose the game or not as long we have the will to fight and survive / or maybe because kuina touch ann hand that make ann also survive the cardiac arrest
In the manga she says that even though she completely made up everything she said, it still doesn’t eliminate the possibility that they could actually be true. I guess that’s why the ending is open to interpretation.
It was so touching that Kuina's father called her by her name, rather than dead naming her - showing that he did care for her, even though it was previously shown in season 1 that he wanted nothing more to do with her.
@@MadDunhill I thought it was a flashback of the Katana guy tbh, I did binge the whole season 1 in one sitting tho so I was pretty tired by the end of it. Pretty awesome show tho
So many lessons in this show. Live to the fullest no matter what you’ve done. Don’t take life for granted. And there doesn’t have to be a reason to live, just live and see where you go
As much as I want to see more of this show, i feel like having another season would ruin it. The ending was absolutely perfect and i don't think it can get any better than that. I look forward to seeing another k-drama that's just as nice as this one
Seriously? I HATED the ending. I’m glad they survived but they forgot eachother so what was the point! all of that for nothing. triggered asf there better be a s3
@@crabman2 they didn't forget, not completely at least. Did you watch the very ending? Arisu meets up Usagi near the vending machines in the hospital and asks her if they've met before. She denies it at first but then says that they have. There's no further proof that they remember borderland but they remembered enough to know that they have a connection.
It’s like dreams, they may last for a a few seconds or approximately 20-30 minutes but when we wake up our dreams feels like longer than seconds or minutes that’s the same for Arisu
I think the last episode was brilliant because the queen of hearts did not just test Arisu but she also played with the hearts (and brain) of the viewers. At least that was the case for me…
Episode 7&8 really had me on an emotional rollercoaster literally cried trough the whole thing starting at the point where chishiya got shot for the second time
nah cause I’m actually fuming cause I thought chishiya actually died so I was crying just to find out later on that those tears were for absolutely nothing
Remember when Ann noticed that the vegetation wasn’t growing at a normal speed? Now remember when Arisu's brother mentioned he had only been dead for a minute. The time correlation between the borderlands and reality is mind bending. What I want to know is about that woman who remembered what the fireworks actually were. Because if she remembered then was she even in a comma? Or why was she in the borderlands in the first place?
Ahh right she did mention about remember having brain surgery but she probably confuse it with a thought probably thinking it might because of the alien skks but sad it seem she does not survive the surgery cause she dead
We need more shows like this one. I love shows that get me to think and be immersed in the show. Too many shows get boring half way through and I don't even care to finish. Welp now im back to not having any shows I care to watch.
I was screaming the whole scene, especially when kuina got stabbed multiple times 🥹 her screams was hard to listen and usagi as well, I kept screaming at my screen on how was she gonna rock climb again when her knees are not gonna work anymore (I thought she was gonna be paralyzed, thank goodness that didn't happen). I could feel their anger and desperation, the actors did a great job
One of the most well done and emotional shows I’ve ever watched. I cried at the end, I’m so happy for Arisu and Usagi and relieved. Truly a masterpiece!
Seriously? I HATED the ending. I’m glad they survived but they forgot eachother so what was the point! all of that for nothing. triggered asf there better be a s3
@@crabman2 I feel the same way. All that character development for nothing. Mira said all will be explained to them, but nothing was. They just go back and forget everything.
I really felt for niragi when he said if there were 7 billion of me who were villains I would still view you all as a villain. I think in that moment they also conflicted with their own selfs and realized that they were all no different from each other.
@@qaalbinuura6603 No he said, "Don't paint me as the villain! If there were 7 billion versions of me, you would be the villains" He was trying to say that what's morally right and wrong differs between people and so in different peoples' perspective, different people would be heroes and villains.
I don't think I've ever been so hyped, uncomfortable and confused at once before. That ending had me so shocked and weirded out and the showing the joker card was such a crazy twist again. They really fooled us that whole episode
Each of the "kings" and "queens" had their own history and why they were running the games. King of clubs was a crazy nudist band guy with "ride or die" friends. The King of diamonds was a lawyer who didn't like how he had to choose which lives had value. I thought the queen of hearts would have an intense back story like, she was totally betrayed by a man and doesn't believe that true love can exist etc. And when Arisu and Usagi break free of the illusion due to their "love", thats why she gave up. They should have explained her motivation
nah shes exceptional i think cuz it was revealed that she was also one of the main admins of the entire game...? and her existence feels so surreal and distant too, i think they tried to distinct her from the rest. its almost as if she only exists in the game...
In the real world, The Queen of Hearts was an actual psychiatrist and neurologist. Not much of a back story, but I guess she’s was really interested in the human mind and especially how people would react to betrayal and near death experiences. She seems like she’s lost her mind playing the games so seeing people’s reactions (and dying in the process) is probably what drives her. Because she’s insane.
I think joker card is more of an achievement for surviving the Borderlands rather than anything else..... I think 3rd season will be about arisu facing another life or death situation again somehow idk
Chishiya grew on me. I went from "wtf" at the first look of him to "aww sweet baby"🥺 When they shot him, I was pissed😮💨 He was doing his best and not giving a damn And Aguni was the GOAT😫
I love how they entertained alternate endings/explanations such as virtual reality and aliens hahah. I would LOVE a season 3 because this show is a masterpiece. However, I can’t see what a third season would even be about.
since this show is an adaptation, there’s a last manga call ‘alice in boarderland: retry’ where arisu went through a similar experience again and they explain a bit about the lore
Amazing show. My main critique with this season was how a lot of the face cards got skimmed over. They just showed a quick montage of like 4 or 5 face card games when that material could’ve given us another season worth of content.
I’m glad many of the people I liked made it back. But my only disappointment is that none of them remembered each other well. They helped each other make it. It would have been better had that shared experience been remembered and exclusive to them. Even if they couldn’t fully explain what happened. Would have also liked to see Kuina meet with Ann and Chishiya on the other side. Ann would not have made it without Kuina. And Kuina and Chishiya stories have been intertwined since S1. Yet nothing between the two in the end. Favorite episode of the season has to be ep. 4 in the prison. What a game. Would have been so hard to play. Also give props to the actors who played Ayuma and Mira. They did so well with the screen time they had. Really left an impression.
Yeah I’m devastated that none of them truly remember what happened and the impacts they had on each other in their fight for survival. Aguni, arisu, usagi, kuina, Ann, archer girl ect. The romance bit between usagi and arisu was also thrown out the window. My only complaint. I’d like a season three but season two really was fire and in my opinion better than season one and you wouldn’t want to create a season three that becomes a flop and the legacy of the series is ruined.
@@chrisping7795 yeah kinda sucked that the characters looked at each other like "hmm you seem familiar" and left it at that. I love this series and would like another season but wouldn't mind it either if they left it off there. There is some closure like the parallels to borderland & real life & them escaping but also enough open-endedness to leave you questioning// wouldn't want them to drag/ milk the heck out of the plot/chrs just for another season too
@@orangejuice8881 yeah like how usagi and arisu finally kissed and everything in the borderland and then they get back to real life and are like “have I seen you before” in the hospital and they both walk outside. Aguni won’t remember Arisu or anyone ect. But yeah better than trying to force a third season just because of that or the joker card. Ending was satisfactory as many fans would want different things it’s best to leave it there.
it is beacause arisu had seen every person on the busy square just before the meteorite hit so he had his dream with all of those people on his own. Everyone had diffrent "borderland". No reason for them to remember eachother
@@DrJin05 I just came from there.. I guess they are going to make their own story because there is no story after joker appears in manga.. It does not make any sense why did they brought joker at the end.. 🙆
King of spade had ultra instinct, Plot Armor, unlimited Munition and teleportation. Truly a terrific enemy. That combined with the random people being incredible dumb (one Dude stabbed him multiple times from behind in the bulletproof vest instead of the Neck) making him the ultimate plotdevice to get rid of the majority of players
@@Gammameem don't be stupid the women had way crazier plot armor atleast he is a trained soldier and there are instances where soldiers have survived way worse stuff than he did but those girl should've been dead AL long time ago
The ending of the show tells us why the name of the show is "Alice in Borderland" . Alice being our main character who is experiencing the 1 whole minute in the border between life and death Edit : And gotta admit it ... The writer did jebait us a lot at the end ... I totally fell for it ... I was like "damn! not this Android cliche" and "OOO vr technology totally not copied from sword art online" ...
This season really affected my sanity in a good way. I'm like arisu, always asking my existence, questioning my path. Though it still hard for me to live and still trying everyday. I'm grateful for chances I'm still here
"A reason for living? Purpose? Answer? I don't care! All of us are troubled by something, but once an answer is finally given to us, we would have already changed from who we were. We would have understood the answer, but as long as we continue to live, we'll move on to the next thing troubling us. Life is self-contained. That's why everyone does what they want. They need to walk that path alone. Despite this, they're able to find someone to walk alongside. Being understood by someone and sharing one moment to the next will make anyone happy. Having someone involve their happiness with mine and share our feelings walking alongside each other is more than enough to satisfy me. Stop thinking and mixing yourself up in your own mind and feel the truth. Forget about things like if you want to live. All that doesn't matter. To be blunt, what's the thing you want to do most?" *- Arisu from the manga*
I finished both seasons in just two days and man, I think I wanna watch it again. This show is something else. I really enjoyed it and love everything about it from the concept, story, cinematography, the visual effects, the actors and of course all the takeaways and lessons about life.
honestly same, i might watch it again. I do want a season 3 but I just don't know what they can do. I've actually got sad and feel empty now that the series is over, because it was so good and I'd be so immersed watching the show lol
The joker is the reaper. All I can say is that borderland is like purgatory where the people who play were given the chance to return to the real world. The next alice in borderland is when arisu was back to the borderland and I can't spoil more as Arisu also had a good fate after the events of the tokyo meteor incident based on the manga.
You don't understand. The Cat is the creator of the Borderland. He was also a doctor. He is like player 001, Squidgame. The Caterpillar work with the Cat like in the Matrix. Orakel work with the creator to fool Neo, Matrix. I believe the cat is the Joker. The Cat smiles also like the Joker. Why would they place a doctor to a criminal in a bad state? Was that criminal working for the doctor in the past, without knowing its other? I am not far off because I know much about occult symbols and Secrets Society's. Alice in Wonderland is original made from a pedofile that had connections with the richest family in ower world. His story was inspired from the Masonic Freemasons, I believe. The thinks you see in Alice in Borderland, Squidgame, Escape Room and Hunger Games happens in the Masonic Freemasons.
The only reason I want a season 3 isn’t because I don’t think the story was wrapped up well enough but because I wish they remembered everything that happened. I just find it such a shame that everything they went through shaped them so much - Arisu finding his will to live after wasting so much of his life following his mom’s death. Kuina facing her past and coming to terms with her father’s abandonment. Chishiya realising selflessness and self-ideals aren’t flaws but valuable. Usagi feeling less alone for the first time after the loss of her father. I just feel that erasure of all this makes the development pointless? You could argue that the gratitude for life after surviving the meteor is what changes them but i find that a vapid answer, without the memories there is no development. (Still love the show though, going to read the manga too).
They’d also have memories of killing tons of people. In borderland, they didn’t have time to sit and really process what’s going on or what they’ve done. If they remembered everything coming out of it, they’d be plagued with everything they’ve done or witnessed. That would stop them from living their life to the fullest and applying the lessons they learned to real life. Besides, I think they do remember everything unconsciously.
some good points in your post. It is almost - oh it was all a dream - one nobody remembers! Yes the life lessons learned in Borderland were all lost the moment they declined to stay and woke with no recollections.
Ok but in all realness, there was so much underlying philosophy in this show and things that don’t normally come up in day to day life… It really gets your wheels spinning. I personally really appreciated it as any fellow deep thinker would. Its a nice feeling to see theres others in the big universe out there facing the same internal debates… one that perhaps you can’t even win
Don’t forget, if it wasn’t for Usagi and Arisu finishing the game, none of the characters would’ve had the choice between staying or coming back. If Arisu forfeited, they would’ve all died. Edit: I’m talking about main characters in the show.
there was quite a few people left alive maybe more outside of the main characters i imagine the others left alive wld participate in the game if arisu lost
Then the game would go on until someone beats The Queen. Someone else have to beat the Queen that's all. It's not like Arisu is the chosen one. He's just the main character of the show. But ofc Kuina, Chishiya , Ann etc would have died (they were already loosing so much blood) ..the two guy who chose to stay in Borderland would have beat the Queen they seem good enough.
Don't worry, Arisu and Usagi have a happy ending. Matter of fact, the manga shows a 2 year timeskip after the meteor strike where Arisu is studying to become a psychologist and is married to Usagi.
@@kookie-pythe joker could be interpreted in different ways. Their hearts stopped for a minute so their time in borderland is their fight for survival from the meteorite. The joker then could symbolise that life is a game and is full of twists and turns. The joker card doesn’t have any numbers and so it could mean anything.
I'm curious with the previous "citizens" like the band members from the King of Clubs game, they obviously won a previous game and chose to stay as residence. Were they victims from a different past disaster, or also the meteorite?
interesting theory. You just need to be a situation between life and death, maybe while they were driving home in a van from a concert they crashed and all of them got sent to borderland? But the population of borderland would be significantly lower without anyone from the meteorite incident.
It doesn't really matter since they went for the hand wavey, it was all a dream type ending. I don't think the writers knew where they were going with it all and just kinda made shit up as they went. I mean, what was with the game masters watching all of them and all being killed off mysteriously? They never really bothered with that.
@@XmdogmX the game masters designed the card games and they get their visas only if the players lose their games. Hence why after they completed the final witch game in season 1, they all got killed as they all worked together to create that game. Similarly in season 2, all the game creators died if their games were completed.
Knowing how long the game lasted, which was 1 minute in real time, it's enough if the "citizens " heart stopped 10 seconds earlier and that's a lot of time in the game, before Arisu and the others appeared. I don't know, I'm just guessing
Only complaint is the close friendships and everything romance which was formed in their time in borderland between kuina, arisu, usagi, Aguni, archer girl ect and Ann is all thrown out the window. They don’t even see each other in the hospital except for arisu and usagi and even then they don’t even remember anything that they went through together and how their time together basically led to them saving each other.
@@chrisping7795 The close friendships are still there, they just can't remember where the feelings came from. If not for the connection Arisu and Usagi had formed in the Borderlands, Arisu wouldn't have had the courage to keep talking to Usagi and Usagi would have been too closed-off to hang out with Arisu.
This show made me realize that I expect the worst of people lol. When Chishiya chose 100 and showed it I was half expecting the lawyer to kill him and thought that they both were trying to play mind games and would eventually betray each other.
Alice in Borderland is just about Arisu in a dream-like state while in the verge of life and death after the meteorite disaster. If you search people who recovered from near death experience while being revived by doctors alot of them told stories on how their dreams felt too real, that's what Arisu experienced, he had dreamed of Borderland, as you noticed his dream is about games that only show it is connected to his subconscious mind of being addicted to games or being a gamer himself in real life, that's what fuels that dreamlike state of his while in near death experience plus the problems that he faced in real life. Based on the manga which was not included in the netflix series, Arisu had met the joker after defeating the queen of hearts, the joker is the representation of the intermediator of life and death, he can be a god or the devil depends if you die or live. Meeting the joker in borderland is also the time when the heart of Arisu in real world had stop beating for a minute as what his brother told him when he woke up in the hospital. After meeting that Joker, Arisu had came back to the real world means he chose to live. Some people whom Arisu met in the real world happened to be one of the characters on his dream-like state Borderland. This is also happend to people who in their near death experience or just in normal dreams, they met people in dreams when they never met them in real life that is why when arisu met usagi in the hospital, he asked her if they have met before.
No its not in arisu head. In the story, the borderland is indeed real, and they all experience the same thing. Because if this all in arise head, why the hell he know who dead and who are not??
The NDE people - or some of them - report vivid dreams or visions - but Arisu and the rest remembered nothing. They discovered truths about human nature and themselves and life while playing the games - for nothing. They will feel a real zest for precious life having survived the meteor strike but anything additional they learned in Borderland was lost.
That would be the"easy" answer because it makes sense but there is much more to it....the fact that the Joker didnt make apperiance till the end as a card, makes for a possible season 3...
At the end the Queen of Hearts had my brain going in so many damn directions lol. Awesome episode and really good acting. My wife and I absolutely loved it!!
Maybe the joker card is the last game and there will be a season 3? Or was the joke on us cause we were tricked several times as to why Borderland existed? This show is phenomenal
There's a scene where Arisu and Usagi are in the hot springs after the elephant. Arisu noticed something on the wall. It looked a lot like the jokers face smiling at them in a creepy way.
This is hands down of the best shows I’ve ever watched! My heart was racing, tears were flowing, brain was exploding! God I’ve never felt such intense yet incredible emotions everrr. This show was beautiful😭💞💞💞
@@noone-uu1hl Not only that, but kuina got stabbed multiple times, anne got shot like a target practice and they were all still alive at the end. There were so many times in the series were I’m dumbfounded by their actions. a lot of civilians got instantly killed by the king of spade by running to an open space without cover. When the main characters does the same thing, all of a sudden his aim becomes so trash and shoots at the ground missing every single bullet. Don’t get me wrong, the show is great but there are so many stuff that doesn’t even make sense.
I honestly got no problem about the entire thing being all supernatural and even spiritual in the end. The concept of self-forgiveness and second chances is very rarely touched upon with such creativity in films and TV these days. I mean in that one minute of cardiac arrest, they were all connected in a single world.
Season 2 is indeed the end of the manga, as the show concludes with the penultimate chapter of the AIB manga. However, the final chapter was cut from the live action. If anyone wants to know, this is what it is: (spoilers) The final chapter is set 2 years in the future, where an interviewer is going around the rebuilt Shibuya area asking different people what they think the meaning of life is. There's a bunch of different answers given, and then we get to Arisu, being asked the same question. He answers, but we don't hear is answer. We then cut to him getting a phone call from Usagi, who he has now been dating for the last 2 years. He's in school, studying to become a psychologist, and apparently just aced his last term paper. He then asks Usagi what she wants to do that weekend, to which she says she wants to climb another mountain. He complains that she always wants to climb mountains, and to at least pick an easier one this time since. There's also a sequel series called Alice in Borderland: Retry, set another six years down the road. Arisu is now a school counselor specializing in helping troubled teens like his past self. He and Usagi got married, and she's due to give birth to their first kid. He ends up back in the Borderlands again, and the plot of the sequel is he has to find his way back out of the Borderlands to reunite with Usagi. I doubt this will get adapted, its only like 11 chapters long and way too short to be a full season, it'd be 2-3 episodes tops.
The manga ends after the things that happened in season 2. There was a short continuation called Alice in Borderland Retry but it didn't do well so it was cancelled after one game. Doubt they'll adapt that honestly.
@@rahulrawat2334 I doubt they'll manage to make a better overall story than the original manga. The manga of Alice in Borderland is pretty much one of the best i've read. The show although it didn't retell it perfectly and altered some things was still great. It'll be very hard to make a follow up that'll be as good as those.
Was there something "wrong" with the last game's tea, like drugs? or did Mira just manage to manipulate them? and why does she say they will know the truth, if they end up forgetting?
Well you are all right guys, but in the end money rules it. If that season is streamed enough and netflix think's a third will bring them profit, they'll go for it... I guess that's also the reason for that not needed "open" end, it doesn't promise us a third season, but it leaves the opportunity for one
I have seen saw and many other crazy movies and series. Many have similarities of the freemasons. Squidgame, Hunger Games, Escape Room and Platform. Who is (are) player 001 (A's)?
Aguni is my favorite character. I feel like he was the only character who took the MOST damage physically and IS STILL fighting for his life and I loved his inner dialogues also. I love him also for more personal matters but, it makes sense why his character suffered so much damage but was still living
@gamingcircus2637 everyone had to kill innocent people to survive.. I feel like the island residents that actually played along/deciding to stay there are worse than Aguni. He fought against them in season 2 wanting to escape. The game masters are worse
@@KPOPNURD obviously game masters are the worst but aguni killed a lot of innocent people due to his own personal frustration and regret, he didn't kill them for sake of winning the game, how is this action justified? He is even worser than niragi and the last boss(something like that).
@@gamingcircus2637 You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm not saying you're wrong.. all I'm saying is everyone has had to kill people in the show. And just like Agunni and others on the show were bad how do we know a lot of the "innocent people" that died, weren't bad or just as bad prior to showing up in the games? I believe the show has shown that even inhabitants of the game, if they weren't bad prior to the games starting, they became bad while inside because of the freedom. Agunni changed in season 2.
@@KPOPNURD read my comment again. Aguni didn't kill this people to win the game but to satisfy his ego and frustration. He could find the witch without making chaos.
Ann was my favourite character, so glad she survived, plus Chishiya is a genius. I really wishe they had all had remembered each other when they woke up though
I usually hate cliff hangers/open endings but I loved the ending just how it was so all the unanswered questions allowed us all to interpret it based on what we learned just as the characters did. My theories are that the lady in the camp who’s remembered what happened prior to the games only remembered bc of her brain surgery she had as a kid. She died mid sentence saying “I saw the fireworks too but they weren’t actually fire-“. I believe she was going to say they weren’t actually fireworks they were meteors. Which is why she was killed & the king of spades hunted the rest of that small community of people she told bc that would’ve exposed the truth for any remaining survivors at the end of the games no matter if they accepted permanent residency or declined. Also I initially thought the joker card meant more games but it doesn’t make sense. I think the joker card meant life is the real game. Everyone dies sooner of later no matter what. The queen of hearts, queen of spades and king of clubs all poetically made that clear and accepted death bc it’s inevitable in borderland just like the “old world”. They died happily after living their lives there freely and to the fullest and that was the lesson & meaning of the games. All survivors had tough lives they weren’t happy with and weren’t living to the fullest. Being brought to borderland was like being in limbo after their near death experience in Shibuya and they were brought there to learn that. For those that died it was unfinished business, either way death was simply their fate.
@@DrJin05 we don’t know yet the first 28 days of when a show drops is important to Netflix to see how many people watch it from start to end. They can go many ways for season 3. (SPOILERS) I don’t know if yo watched season 2 but there was a lady that remember everything before she got her brains splat 😭. But everyone else memory was Gone. And it’s making me think what’s happening at the ending is the same thing. A big old trick. Cause the Queen of shades she did a big trick. She even got me I really thought it was all fake 😭
Just as I figured out, it has a poise of Inception. It's ambiguous that we either decide if it's real or fake, just as whether it's a dream or it's real.
At the end of the manga, Arisu and Usagi meet with the Joker card character after winning the Queen of Hearts game. It’s brought up how he is the person behind everything in the borderland. I was very happy with how close it followed the manga.
I feel like the citizens where almost like angels or some shit because they all played their hand in helping a specific character overcoming their demons in some way. Also the way the King of spades was portrayed in that mercy killing flashback just give me reaper vibes, mercy killing so many people on the verge of literal death. "Its the only way I knew I could save you"
You don't understand. For me the queen of heart represented death , as she was the hierarchy of all the other cards bosses , she wore all black , heart representing the soul, she wanted the main character to take those pills to pretty much commit suicide so she can have his soul , when she saw his girl pretty much sacrifice her life for him and he also said doesn’t matter if the world is real or fake I just want to protect her , death was extremely moved by love and will , so she allowed them to win , also that last fight scene the reason they didn’t die was because if you really think about it those bodies are not real it’s only what the soul reflects so when they all got shot but still lived it just means their will to live was stronger then any human body is capable of withstanding hence why they got shot so many times and still lived their will to live on allowed them all to come back to life
@@mateicsito maybe not , there is a comic call Alice In Borderland RETRY that somehow Arisu came back to Borderland , but that timeline he grew up , it's hard to say but this is my opinion (maybe i'm wrong) : the RETRY maybe is ss3 which we're discussing about , if ss3 will happen...
nono guys! netflix ALWAYS announces if it would be the final season of the show in the trailer but they didnt so, they may do a spin off of the manga so
But what happened to the people that chose to stay in border land? And the people that said wait till the end and he will get answers? Had they already made it to the end? If so how weren't they alive/dead?
They are in coma and if they die in the borderlands, they die in real life and possibly, they will be the game masters and yes, possibly there will be season 3 with some new characters who will enter in the borderlands
@@mnginsr Yup. Those two will be the game masters. So anybody that died will go to borderlands and play the games to decide if death or living or stay.
They definitely dragged it. I had to skip certain scenes where they were taking too long with the dialogue because it was very cliche. 4 minutes scenes of a person crying or just standing there taking forever to speak. Usagi had a near death experience every episode almost
I just just finished watching it, it was sooo good especially the last episode was the best in the most craziest way possible like how do people even write such storylines, it's beyond imagination, it was such a good watch, worth every while, it was ten times better than last season the last episode goshh i can't stop by telling how good that came out it was such a nervewracking yet the most satisfying last episode, and also the star of the show gosh, kento yamazaki, like dayumnnn, it's easily one of the best things I've watched this year like wooahhh- and also the end credits scene gosh the joker card being showed in the end smh, i think players have not made it out like they think they have but have instead entered into phase three of the games, made more dangerous by the fact that they are unaware and have no memory the joker is meant to represent the wild card and so suggests even more unpredictability, if you can imagine that In many card games the Joker can take on the characteristics of other cards, meaning it could present as any one of the dangerous challenges they've faced before or could be an entirely fresh new hell for them to contend with, Either way it's likely to be the most difficult, most sinister yet. A trickster card that has lured them into this false sense of security by wiping their memories and landing them "home" what ever it is i'm getting really scared for 3rd season, i can't wait another 2 years for it gosh
I'd recommend watching Dark for another show that makes you keep questioning reality. It's so good, and as great as this show is, I think Dark is even better. It is three seasons long and never drops in quality and ends the show without plot holes or questions.
This show is just so flawless I'm only 14 but I love shows like this and especially with the fact that it had a lot of psychological things in it makes it even better I'm so sad that Karube and Chōta died but I think that it really helped to thicken the plot and make the show even better The acting is amazing and these actors and actresses and everybody involved in the making of this show deserve so much because it was so entertaining and I'll definitely be watching it again once I'm older and don't remember the ending twist
