I’m one of them. There is something so calming and relaxing about being stuck to a wall. I’ve had fascinating conversations during them with younger kids(think 8-10 years old) who found the 40 some year old okay to ask how does this work? Having full blown conversations about how centrifugal forces work out.
I went on it yesterday and its insanely cool. there was so much gravity that I couldn't even put my arms up without struggling. I was nervous about the ride at first, but it became my favorite
Thank you wikipedia for fact checking the context of alien abduction. I now know that I can safely ride this without the fear of actual extra terrestrial involvement.
i know alot of people find this ride very fun but i want to share my experience with this ride, i went on this ride. when the seats went up like how they did at 0:37, it creates a large gap between all the seats, my foot due to the gravity went into this gap and since i couldnt get it out i was freaking out, since my entire ankle was in the gap and i was scared when the seats went back down it wouldve crushed my ankle, as shown in 1:33, i really recommend this ride, but PLEASE make sure your on your back fully, i prob wouldve broke my ankle, luckily my friend got it out before the seats fell
Oh wow thanks for the heads up! I never thought of that. I've been on so many of these and I have long legs. I will make sure I stay away from that area.
I cried on this cause it was my first time and i thought it would go faster and my sister spun upside down and some people were meditating this is by far my favourite ride
Ya I wish I was into them back in the day but was too scared then. Can't turn upside down. Sometimes they let you turn on your side depending on who's operating. Still fun though!
I'd have themed my gravitron ride around a Borg vessel from Star Trek; them lifting boards that your stuck on by the gravity of this ride look like a bit like Borg Alcoves! lol😂 These gravitron rides definitely beat the Sticky Wall Rotors any day because of the lifting boards, but the Cage Round Up Rides where it's tilted at an angle whilst you are held by gravity by it's spinning literally do have alcoves that you stand in because of the way that the gondola is designed....
when this thing reaches its max speed you're being pressed against the wall at 3 times the force of gravity. not surprising people get sick from this ride
I've never been in one of these. I had no idea that the center control station was mounted to the turntable. I just assumed it was isolated and the operator watched everyone spinning around them.
Last year at the Mother’s Day carnival me and my brother went on it like 7-8 times bc it was my favorite afterwards got home and had terrible body aches from it but it’s totally worth it!
Oh I'll ride this several times too! I used to hate these when I was younger but I love them now!! I can't wait to ride this more next week when our fair comes to town!
I just rode this at the KY state fair and i was terrified bc of the “PLEASE KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND AT ALL TIMES” directions and i almost freaked out
I didn't make it to Kentucky State Fair this year. Been going to a lot of water parks lately bc it's been so hot out. But ya the seats always move up so it's impossible to keep your feet on the ground lol.
I love Gravitrons! Back in the day they would drop the floor out but they don't do that anymore. If you're lucky and find a rotor (similar to Gravitron) they drop the floor out on those while people stick to the walls!
And trust me I was probably the only person that listen to the voice saying "keep your arms by your side" there was a kid just chilling and before the sides went up the wall somebody moved them and my eyes widened I was like in my head "omg omg omg omg omg the ride is broken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I love it! I rode the one at Kentucky State Fair a couple times yesterday. These are my favorite fair rides. I love it when the walls shift up too and seeing everyone's reactions haha. I would have ridden more but it was so busy so I left at like 9. I'm going to Kings Island today for the water park bc it's gonna be super hot today.
I went to a ride of these yesterday for the first time. Was nervous at first but during the ride it became fun and relaxing. Unfortunately i had ride sickness and threw up afterwards lol
Had the chance to get on this back in 2014 I think and I kick myself in the ass for not getting on it because I would've probably loved that ride. It sadly doesn't come to the fair here anymore (2014 is the last year it came here or whenever that time was) and I wish the fair would bring the ride back. I'd get on it in a heartbeat if it ever came back. Looks so much fun. I rode a similar ride called Zero Gravity here and I absolutely loved it. I'd love this ride guaranteed if I ever got the chance to ride it.
Ahh hopefully they bring this back to your fair. These are quite popular still and most fairs have them still whether it's a Starship 3000 or Alien Abduction. Same thing.
Bro for some reason when I was like 6 I tried to sit down cuz I thought the ride was scary and my brother was like don’t sit down and now I love the ride and how people be sitting there like nothings happening 😂
I remember i was like 10 my first time in one of these and I thought it was gonna be so stupid.. well it starts spinning then I seen this younger (he was light) kid start climbing up the wall like Spider-Man That was probably one of the most exciting moments I had as a kid.
I miss the Gravitron here in Colorado it was one of my favorites, used to like to peel myself off the seat and hang vertically from the bar in the middle like I was flying though I got in trouble for that once too
I've always wanted to try that...and turn upside down but they don't let you do much anymore except lay there. Some ride operators don't care. I like seeing everyone move around to all the different positions lol.
There is no way to really see outside when on the ride. Only way to know it's spinning is the force on the wall! When I go on it I do get a little dizzy though but it's fun!
That would be fun but I’d probably be sick I’ve felt g forces just today at my fair and couldn’t take it the one ride I went on was miserable our cart was going in circles WHILE our cart was spinning fast on the decline as me and my friends were facing inward that was the hardest to get through I almost passed out
Each year they give it less and less time. When I was a kid at seaside heights I remember they used to go for three minutes. Which would be insanity now..
Ya ride cycles have become a lot shorter. I've noticed on these they typically do 2 super fast cycles...where it is super fast for like 10 seconds or so then slows down. Sometimes they do 3...but not often.

Does the ride controller get dizzy when he finally goes for a smoke break
Me and my friend went on one last night and we both HATED it I was like it felt like we being traumatized it was horrible I don’t recommend it it’s like your head is magnetic and your neck tightens up it’s the worst I only recommend if you actually like this type of rides we really wanted to get off also if you have very bad asthma I don’t recommend it for you also careful where your feet are because we’ll obviously they do go up and down and if you put your hands behind the wall thing just be careful so you don’t get pinched I mean it didn’t happen to me but almost did lol
Which fair was that one at? I enjoy these rides a lot lol. I went on the Ohio State Fair one a few weeks ago and it was super fast! It was hard for me to even breathe on that one for a bit but still fun lol. I was gonna go to Tennessee State Fair today but weather looks like crap so decided to stay home.
It was my first time on rides and my bro and I went on a coaster and the swings before this one, and oh god 😭 I found out i like the swings and coaster better than this ride. People seem to enjoy this one, but me and my bro didnt like this at all. There was no instructions, and the guy who was taking our tickets did not help the vibe at all😭 He gave a rude attittude. But yea my heel felt stuck which sorta scared me, and my brother was worried where to grip because it looked like it could have pinched him with the sliders. We didnt enjoy thar dizzying feeling ,or being so without oxygen xD
If it's too hot I won't ride any spinning stuff otherwise I'll get nauseous. I agree about the ride operators. I like it when they're into their job and makes it a lot more fun.
Oh yes I try and do that too! Go right when the fair opens. Bluegrass Fair gets extremely crowded on the weekends. I'll go to Alter Ego first thing bc that thing will get like an hour or more wait.
It's best when you stand up and run the ring around the ride. Used to ride it in the 80s and early 90s till I was sick. Had to get a cool operator though who'd let you stand up and run the ring. From your video they seem to spin slower these days. Used to spin harder and the seats would ride up in the first few seconds. This definitely not a ride for people with medical issues, high blood pressure, etc.
Ahh ya I hear they used to be a lot more intense and ride operators would allow more but too many lawsuits and people getting hurt over the years stopped all that. I wish I was into riding these more back in the days.
It's one of my favorites! I went on it again a couple more times on Saturday at Bluegrass Fair and plan to go back at least once more before the fair is over lol.
Oh I bet that made it interesting! It seems faster this year. Plus on the 2nd time it speeds up, they started turning the lights out inside. Can't see a thing in there. It's so fun!
