Ripley continues her trek through the Sevastopol and makes it to the med bay, which comes with a lot of problems. I discover just how hard the game is on hard difficulty.
We will never forget 1702. Not because anything significant happened that year, but because we all punched in that number so many times on the damn door in this level.
The first time I went there: le me types in 1072.... * door panel turns red *...... well fuck I made all the way over here with all the risks, the alien still far away and BAAM... I remembered the wrong number lol
The thing is though, Ripley has to open it that way, similarly to the way she has to close it when she gets in. Lockers aren't meant to be closed from the inside. She has to slam it so it has enough momentum after her getting inside for it to actually shut. Just like she needs a fair bit of force to pry it open it afterwards, which results in her flinging it open. It's not something that could be done stealthily in real life. So good on Ripley for keeping it real.
This game deserves a multiplayer mode, maybe 8 people working together so they can escape. Imagine the funny moment as you hear the alien tearing someone apart in the other room idk why but that would be scary and hilarious
It does hear it on hard and nightmare. He says he's playing hard mode (and probably is), but it doesn't always seem like it. The alien also doesn't seem to notice him hiding in the lockers much either, even after walking past the same one he's hiding in 3+ times.
I also loved how they nailed the atmosphere of the Alien movie in this game. Fox gave the developers access to about 3 Terabytes of movie and production data: textures, sounds, effects and schematics and the developers really made full use of it. This game actually has two AI's. There's the "Alien AI" which controls how the alien reacts to its immediate surroundings. Then, there's a separate "Director AI" (like in Left4Dead) which manages the overall tension in the game. For example, if you haven't seen the Alien in a while, the Director AI will nudge the alien to look in your general area, but it won't tell the alien exactly where you are. The Director AI also controls when the alien is allowed to enter certain areas and at what times.
Hmm.... surprising. I didn't know that. Now that you say it, I would think that the game developers would have them give the Alien a hint as to where your general direction is as to hype up the suspense and tension as the game is supposed to but I only came across this playthrough yesterday via a recommendation. I remembered it because of Markiplier's past playthroughs and those for this supermassive game was really long. It was indeed a lot of walking around and interactive experiences. The only thing that actually keeps me watching this is the text and some of the dialogue from the youtuber. It sounds like a "she" from what I've seen wait, heard. I actually started at episode six and watched eight and the beginning of nine but then just decided to see episode one as the recommendations again recommended it. They used to always do that while I was watching a Markiplier playthrough of any gameplay. Man, all those glory days of watching his videos which was in the past two years and maybe a little last year but I unfortunately had to stop. I won't say why as I just can't go back to that but.......... one day....................................
Dont know if that is true. I remember them telling you that the Alien is just that smart alone. He will bait you into a false sense of security sometimes just to get you out in the open. The Alien doesnt just pop out whenever things are too quiet.
@@stormcutter59 there a video (the ai of alien isolation by ai and games.) Thats probably where this guy got this info from. Its a pretty good watch. Shows the work they put into this alien.
Here are some non spoiler tips for any future players: 1: Avoid lockers, they are death traps and the more you use them the more likely Mr Walking Eggplant will start checking them. So use desks and beds to hide if you can. 2: You don't have to crouch everywhere you go. If you know the Alien is out of your Radar you can just walk around ... Don't run. But walk. 3: pay attention to the sounds of the Alien, he will tell you how he's feeling. If he screams, that means he's spotted or suspects you. So if you hear that scream. RUN for cover immediately. 4: Most importantly... Never ... Stop .. moving. Don't waste time hiding as much as in this video. If you find yourself dieing a lot, try moving MORE. You will be surprised as how much that helps.
It's classic motion picture horror all over. Me -the spectator- screaming at the screen "NO DON'T USE THE SCANNER" "IT HEARS THE SCANNER" "TURN OFF THE GODAMN SCANNER"
I'm not sure if you know this, but beside some of the doors, including the one you unlocked with the code, you can do an emergency lock on the door. So if the alien is chasing you or is behind you at all, you can lock the door for a while to have a better chance of escaping.
for people who will play this game in the future dont keep your movement detector up all the time while you are hidding IT BEEPS !!!! for fuck sake wich mean he can hear it !
well im not 100% sure but i was watching a famous youtuber play this and he was wondering why he kept getting spotted and he said because everytime he would talk it would count as making sound in the game
Xenomorph:nani, because of beeping noise ripley:oh shit fck fck fck runn!!!! Xenomorph:where do you think your going, tail percing trough ripley, xenomorph:🙄🙄typicall
I remember playing this and promising I would kick Dr. Kuhlman's ass when I returned. But the alien at this part of the game pissed me off so much that I had forgotten my promise and was extremely ready to see the doc again. That alien.... I feel like sometimes it does know you're at a specific location, but it doesn't do anything as it would rather give you a false sense of security so it could just fuck your shit up later. Just me?
Oh no definetly, it loves to mess with you. There was a bit in the synthetic lab for me where the alien went in and out of the vent outside the room I was in 3 times in a row to mess with me
The Alien actually always knows where you are, according to how they made the Alien AI it has a hidden meter that basically tells it how close it needs to get to you to make Ripley nervous, while Ripley herself has her own hidden meter that measures how frightened/terrified she is and once it reaches full the alien will back off for a small amount of time and the meter will go back to 0. It really is fascinating how they created the AI. I mean it is way more complicated then how I described it, but yeah the alien always knows where you are it just backs off once those meters are full.
Most people say that the motion tracker beeps in your headphones but they’re not exactly noise canceling so I’m pretty sure he can hear it, also they are perfect hunters so they have extreme hearing I would not be surprised if some of the smarter ones were just playing around when heard them
so i've been adding text to my video's recently maybe give one of my video's a try? Feedback would be nice to, I'm tryin to hit a thousand subs so i can hopefully get some money out of RU-vid...
Cal C I agree 💯👍, I don't mind then talking some of the time but not throughout the whole damn video, it ruins the experience, so I prefer the text, not to mention seeing them freak out over a text when they are about to get killed is hilarious 😆😂
If Alien Isolation was made in 2019/2020 then it would have a lot more feature's cuz of next game engines.. But this game was made from 2011 until 2014 and for this years still have really god and fascinated AI. Probably the best AI until some triple A games come out with better AI schematics. Can u imagine if they make Alien Isolation remake.. Perhaps in upgraded Unreal 4 engine.. That Alien would be badass. Probably will be smart as person who plays..
A not-so-fun fact for you... The alien has Meta AI... So if you screwed up since the last save? It doesn't erase it from its memory.. It keeps it in the information it's learned about your methods... So if the last 10 times you survived was due to just throwing a flare, and you died anyway... It's going to stop falling for that flare so easily, even though "technically" you haven't tried it yet during the current attempt
@@midnightdragon67 actually he's correct. now that OP finished the series, you can see the alien became more resistant to flametrower. Hell, even OP said ''they're getting resistant''. So the ''lying fuck'' would be you
@Oreo Cookie so you're saying that it does get more resistant, but not because of using the flametrower a lot, but because of scripted events? cool, i was correct in the result, but wrong in the execution.
Electro Shock no you’re right it only gets more resistant the more you use the flame thrower. The devs literally explained how it works. The alien learns from your tactics. If you use the locker often it will start checking lockers more frequently, if you hide under tables it will start looking under tables, same goes for vents. If you use items regularly to distract the alien it will be more hesitant to fall for the distraction. The AI was designed to adapt with how someone plays.
@@midnightdragon67 No, you stupid bitch. Correct. It even happened to me with the flame thrower I used in a vent and it killed me. After I showed it the flame thrower and it hesitated.
Harbinger she’s in a dark spaceship with limited resources against a powerful creature that wants to devour her flesh, I don’t blame her for slamming the door lol
Interesting fact: the developers used real sounds from tigers for the Zenomorphs. There’s some cool videos on here or tiger’s doing what’s called chuffing. There will send chills down your bones.
i got to the med bay, and quit forever. £44 pre-ordering this game, and i couldnt get past this part, the saves were too far apart and i was on the hardest mode D: mustve died at least a dozen times, i got SO close to the second save SO many times, but that tunnel always fucked me up, and theres no where else to go, its a straight line, if you dont time going down that tunnel properly, you die. by the way, he err...he can hear the beeps on your radar, which is why it seems like he can home in on you without really seeing you, when i found that out, my jaw dropped.
Voldebutt Emmm I can give you a tip You know those tubes on the walls of the tunnel? Well, shoot them, they will provoke a fire and it will scare the alien.
When you get Mosley’s code and find the door needed by the code, there’s a big room on the opposite side of the door. So, behind you, and in there there are two doors you can lock and a save point. And also you suck
Deception is your biggest ally. Also, the best time to move is when the Alien leaps into the ceiling vents so you have to listen out for it. Make your move once you hear it happen and you'll give yourself a minute or two to advance. You just need to be ready to duck into a locker at a moment's notice. Also, it is counter-intuitive and goes against your instincts, but a little bit of bravery gets you much farther than you think.
A friend and I played this together with the kinnect. We were killed in the exact vent at 15:26. Hide in there from the other side when the alien came in. He left , we had a giggle/sigh, big fella comes staunching into the vent after us. Does anyone else find the androids scarier than the alien? There are just so many of them.
Improvision I find the androids an easier enemy due to the lack of speed, lack of one shot, and lack of ability to climb in vents, also they can be killed and that's unlike the alien
You have to really go for it during this chapter. Don't stay in one spot for longer than needed. Also the alien can hear your motion tracker if it's nearby, so if you're hiding and it's right near you put the damn thing away and judge by sound and sight when it's safe
It can hear the motion tracker, and you need to wait until you hear him go into the vents.....it'll also show this on the motion tracker. His dot will start zooming around
For anyone playing, you can hear the motion tracker do a little beep (without you holding it) just as the alien starts moving before it comes out of the vents in the background. It’s sort of like a beep to say ‘quickly look at the MT just to see which direction the alien is then either hide or keep moving forward.’ A lot of the time the alien will be behind you if you keep moving.
2019 and I’m playing A:I for the first time (I know, where have I been?). I found this video really tense, funny and entertaining. I love the way you mostly use subtitles to keep the sounds of the game intact. But it says a lot that when you do speak, you whisper ! In doing so you captured perfectly what this game feels like to play lol.
Here’s a pro tip for anyone that’s still plays this game. As soon as the Alien drops from the vents, you CAN run all the way to the next door and enter the passcode all while the Alien is doing his little dramatic entrance. There’s like a 6 seconds delay until the Alien actually starts looking for you so use it to your advantage!
Or if your not fast enough, you can also chuck a Noisemaker into the hallway behind the Alien just as it emerges then you'll have plenty of time to sneak over(don't walk or run!) and punch in the code while it's distracted.
Damn they need to make an alien isolation 2 asap, this is the only kind of game I want that should be made every year as much as zombie or any other type of popular game.
+Scorpion Savage Thanks for the feedback. I generally enjoy doing it this way so I'm not forcing myself to talk/adopt a personality to act entertaining
purely for the fact that i watched your entire playthrough and these videos still pop up amazes me, still tho i always have a good laugh and your the one who got me to play this game as well!!
Well no, Just because it is Intelligent, doesn't make it the smartest thing in space. Given that it is an animal and doen't like fire. You would be better burnning the whole space station down and have it explode. Yes you will still die but at least you know its dead.
usually after a while 'I get bored of the gameplay videos, your I really like, because an irony uses very funny and intelligent (that patience you have to put all those comments;-)) great job
San cristobal medical facility (Quarantine level) was the most intense and freaky part of the game. The only weapon you had at the time was a pistol and the creature (for the first time in the whole saga) was impervious to bullets. They take fear and complications to a whole other level. Great work.
I just love the AI on this game, every time I see a play through I just remember how much of a nightmare it was to play the worst game of hide and seek
I just replayed this on hard mode (trying to get that trophy) and holy crap my heart was pounding. I figured out that you can just keep walking past the alien while he's doing his vent animation at the beginning and get a head start on punching the numbers into the keypad. Still hard as fuck though.
The A.I in this game is incredible, I completed this on normal being traumatised by the alien the whole time, I am now playing on hard mode and the alien seems way smarter, all the tricks I used to hide and evade it before, no longer work so great job on creating the perfect living organism
The only reason that we all struggled on this part particular because I remember this being like the hardest fricken part of the whole game was because is was a long ass part with no save point as far as we can see and we were very unfamiliar with how the alien acts and moves around but tbh now that I've finished this game, this level is a breeze, I'll try it soon and see if maybe I could finish it quicker Also around the end of this area it was rly fun to because it made you feel so good bein able to control the alarms and distract the alien and improve This game is by far the best game I've played ever
The title is very apt considering the whole game is basically a big game of hide and seek. Basically there are two AI’s in this game, not just one; one controls the alien and other tracks you (using your tracker). The tracker AI constantly gives the alien AI your (very rough) location so it sets out to find you using the clues the tracker AI gives it.
I love this game. My friend and i played it together however he had the headset on and i was playing with no sound so i had to rely on my friend to tell me when to go based on the sounds. It was a great experience
