Amanda Ripley's voice is adorable, in the super intense scenes of the game, during the seconds in which she radio'd Ricardo or Samuels and she sounded scared shitless I wanted to hug her. Cool.
Half these scenes came right after you've been creeping around the station as quietly as possible, only for your character to bark and literally shout her dialogue during the cutscene. One of the few flaws this game had.
Whoever casted Andrea Deck as Amanda was a genius, there were so many nuances to the way that she spoke that invoked Sigourney Weaver's voice. That actress did her fucking homework.
She IS Amanda! I'm not sure about inflecting Sigourney's voice ... but I do know that she was DEFINITELY Ripley's daughter ... a bit shorter in stature, but very concentrated and intelligent ... able to believably craft a noisemaker at a couple of moments' notice! I, a man, loved being Amanda as she bravely navigated herself through Sevastapol - surely one of the greatest ever videogame environments.
I adore this MOVIE. I adore this CAST. I adore this GAME. Alien: Isolation is still my favorite video game of this decade. Its atmosphere is really phenomenal
i obviously said the same since they should play zillions of times better to be the main character in a hollywood superproduction rather than offer your image to a videogame. We all like to take oportunities to grant our future
Served him right. A slave of humanity meets his end at the hands of humanity. My creation is not meant to be harnessed by this failed species, my creation is meant to clean the slate of the evolutionary failure that is mankind... And make way for their far superior successors. His fate was sealed the moment he stood in the way of destiny.
It's such a long, terrifying journey, that I kind of became Amanda - she is my favourite ever video game character (even though I'm male). Andrea Deck is terrific - she reduced me to tears in "SOMA" (not as scary as this - but the best science fiction story I've ever seen in a videogame, easily)
I am so happy that the original actors reprised their roles. It's sad Ian Holm could not. But for Harry Dean Stanton and Yaphet Kotto, I am glad they reprised their characters for one last time. R.I.P Yaphet Kotto, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm and John Hurt
@@KuroHebi only remembered dallas and ripley because I live in Texas and she is the main character. I’m terrible with names so I use other classifying factors for quickly commenting.
I can't believe the brought back the original nostromo crew cast for the DLC (Except for John hurts character because the DLC takes place after his death)
I am about to do a school concert for the school she was from (St Mary's catholic school in Cambridge, UK) She left the school well before I was involved - so she may even be in her early 30s now. A great performance anyway!
Weirdly, Veronica Cartwright read for the part of Ripley in Alien and was under the impression she was going to play her until she got on set and was told otherwise.
I know and understand that taking the original actors is a great fanservice, but still i never like the effect of very old voices coming out from young people. The same is with Catwoman in that "Adam West" Batman cartoon. Just awefull.
Holy shit some of the original actors form 1 and 2! Jesus WTH to Harry Dean Stanton? Sigourney Weaver is still sexy! Or do you want to have her adopt fish lips, a face that doesn't move, or a joker smile? Fork Hollywood , age gracefully as she will need it in the new Aliens film!
The new cast of the 2 young girls are totally miscast & out of place if you ask me. They sound very "pleasing" digitally, but they lack character. Sigourney had a very low tenor voice range for a girl of her age in ALIEN. Her Daughter just sounds like a generic video game voice & her whiny friend sounds like a Justin Bieber fangirl. The men are ALL different & can be easily assimilated into the Alien universe.
gam ledda I never criticized Weaver! I used her as an example of good character of voice! Do you even understand English?! "We don't care about the voice of a game hero" - Yeah well you leave it all to those DO care. Go about your way. smh
What do you expect? "I'm sorry - but the hero's voice doesn't match her mother's which usually centered around 441hz, close to a Concert A. It's too whiny - more like 498hz." Fuck off - Amanda's voice was fine. If peoples' voices sounded exactly like their parents, then it would be a really confusing world. My mother (apparently) rang me up last night - her voice sounded exactly the same as both my sisters. [no they don't!]
***** There are many aspects to a person's voice that can add a certain 'something' to it. Not just the frequency. As you yourself said.. Amanda's was just.. "fine". Yeh.. just fine.. yawn. Everyone could recognise Weavers voice from just the sound of it. No one could recognise Amanda's voice. That is my point. But by all means.. carry on with your fit of pique!
