the synthetic looked funny because it was a deepfake of ian holmes from the original film. he passed away years ago and his wife let them use his likeness through cgi. i wish they hadn’t done it but i guess they wanted nostalgia points. lol
@@DravTheBro Fun fact: Rook wasn't even played by a real person. A real person did Ian Holm's voice, but the Rook body was a animatronic on set and they used deep fake and CGI to make the animatronic's face move the way it did.
@@nukecorruption considering how much other practical work they put in and how little rook was on screen i'd say they get a pass. Ian holm also wanted to be involved in another alien movie before he died so adding him in this way was also a sort of respectful tribute.
I’m glad you enjoyed Alien Romulus! I did too. I think it’s the 3rd best Alien movie, right behind the first two, which I think was the best Fede Alvarez could achieve with it. And in my opinion, he did. I too hope we’ll get a sequel, and see what happens to Rain and Andy next. Time will tell! 😊
@@DravTheBroI agree with you! Alien Covenant was way too violent for my taste. The best Alien movies (including Romulus) have just enough blood and gore in them, but Ridley Scott was throwing buckets of blood and gore on the screen in Covenant, which turned me off. And I hated the cliffhanger ending involving David, which may never be resolved. But they say a sequel to Alien Romulus *could* possibly wrap up David’s storyline as well as continue Rain and Andy’s adventures, so we’ll see. 🙂
I watched the Directors Cut and Covenant in my buildup to Romulus which was a mistake because both those moves blow Romulus out of the water. They are superior in every category.
